I have a 20 MP camera but my RAW files are not 50 MB.

It would be interesting to know if they sell better than Alamy. Angela, your images are far too beautiful for microstock. So dreamy and artistic. They should be used in movies.

I have 50 keywords for each image. I am just worried that I don't have them in the right order. For example in the old website I had white background, isolated, close-up often in the last field.

I have just seen on Alamy's new website that 148 of my images have poor discoverability. What to do? Is it possible to change keywords after photos have been accepted? How?
I have not sold one image yet on Alamy. I am slowly getting tired of uploading there.

Robert Harding wants 50 MB files. Unless I got that wrong. My images, converted from RAW to JPEG using LR and quality set a 100% don't have more than 20MB.

Photography Equipment / Re: Sony RX100 - upgrade
« on: February 09, 2017, 16:12 »
I have the M3. No point buying the M4. M5 has hybrid AF. I am hoping that the RX100M6 will get a touch screen. The M5 costs far too much money for what it is. I read that the JPEGs of the Sony A6500 are amazing. Just don't know if I will sell more images of I have a camera that makes better JPEGs.

Thank you Irina. Due to health problems I can't take and edit more photos than that. The Sony RX100M5 has hybrid AF, my camera has only contrast detection. I haven't started taking videos yet. The Sony RX100M5 can record in 4K, mine only in HD. The main problem for me is holding a heavy camera but even more damaging is computer work.

Photography Equipment / Sony RX100 - upgrade
« on: February 09, 2017, 02:36 »
Hello, has anybody upgraded to the Sony RX100M5? Is it worth it? I am taking photos with the Sony RX100M3 because I can't hold heavy cameras. Would I sell more images if I would choose a higher quality camera like the Sony A6300 for example? Is it worth it paying any more money for a new camera? I have only uploaded about 340 images in one year and I really can't do more than that. I edit RAW files but would really love to be able to use JPEGs. Wouldn't that save a lot of editing work?

Tyson, how many photos have you had on Pond5? How much did you charge?

I got an email from Alamy yesterday. You can't upload RF editorial images yet. You will be in the future but they have not mentioned when that will be.

I only took the postcard type of travel images. I only started with stock photography 11 months ago that's why I don't have more images yet. Of course I don't earn lots of money on microstock but my images do get bought. I have not sold one single image, not even an editorial on Alamy.

I am good at shooting travel photos but I am not going anywhere on holidays in the near future. When weather is bad I do food photography . However, the few travel photos I shot are selling well on microstock but no sale on Alamy.

I think I have to stop giving everything to microstock. The volume might be higher but think about a landscape photographer who gets up at 3.30 am to drive somewhere for one hour to take a beautiful sunrise image. And he gets 0.25 dollars. And food photography is stressful, time consuming and expensive even if you do eat the undercooked food later. :-) I only just started uploading at Pond5. I will wait and if nothing sells I will change my price setting according to the image.

Think about it how much Alamy charges for an image. Well, I certainly won't upload for 1 dollar. I am already frustrated about the 25 cent I am getting on SS. I priced all of mine at 20 dollars for the biggest size. Just wondering if that's too high. A unique photo I priced 100 dollars. Actually I felt like setting it to 150 just like Alamy does. Shooting takes time and costs money, editing from RAW to JPEG takes time, uploading takes lots of time and customers want to pay 1 dollar? Maybe they should go and take their own photos and then think about it if they don't value them higher.

How much should I charge for a photo?

Oh wow, then I will stop uploading. I closed my Canstock account and I have stopped uploading to MostPhotos about 6 months ago. Just not worth the effort.

Do photos sell on Pond5? I have not taken any videos yet and have 300 images only. Is it worth uploading them on Pond5? How much should I charge for a high resolution image taken with a 20 megapixel camera? Should the price be the same for all sizes? My images are selling well on SS and Fotolia, but not on DT and not on Alamy.
Thank you very much to all who have helped me so far and answered all my questions. Merry Christmas and a Successful New Year to all of you.

Do food photos sell on Alamy? I have uploaded the same images I sell on microstock to Alamy but have not had one sale yet. My portfolio is small with about 220 images. I also uploaded editorial images but no sale. It seems such a waste of my time. I am doing perfectly fine on microstock even though I uploaded only 290 images so far.

Microstock News / Re: Is it worth uploading editorial photos
« on: December 15, 2016, 10:42 »
I have been doing microstock for only one year. My editorials all sold but only once. I only have taken 23 editorial images so far. If each editorial photo sells only once it's not worth it in my opinion. Do editorial photos sell when they were taken one year ago?

I don't have a problem with new images on SS.

Zalee, you are doing really well compared to me. I joined DT in January 2016. I have 219 images and only 2 sales. My images don't even show up in searches. When I searched for pine, pine cone and cinnamon start all sorts of images came up but not mine even though other images didn't have a cinnamon star. I am doing very well on SS. My food images don't sell. What kind of images do you take that you sold so well on DT? I search for my images, scroll through 20 pages or more and they are nowhere. They do show up when I search on other websites.

Irina, isn't editing videos for microstock very difficult? So far I have only taken photos. I think that's better at the beginning. However I am uploading to microstock for nearly a year now and slowly would like to start taking vides as well.

IStock is a total waste of my time that's true but I am doing very well on SS and Fotolia. I only started a few months ago. I only have 150 images on SS so far. I have 200 on DT but there I have sold 2 images in the 9 months I am with them. DT was the first agency I signed up with.

No wonder I am doing so very bad on iStock. I only sold 2 images in six months. And not one of my bestsellers that sell on SS and Fotolia. The 2 sales I had about 4 months ago. Ever since nothing.
