Newbie Discussion / Re: Fotolia and the Pound
« on: October 17, 2016, 08:49 »
Hello Sharpshot, I don't lump you all together. Sorry if it sounded as if I do. I know the vote result. I can understand the poor people for example in Wales. They all fear of not getting a job or loosing their jobs. I never took one of their jobs. I got one because they needed my language skills. I am now suffering with the Brits because of their vote. I have been here 20 years. It's not the people"s fault that a government lets people vote who have no idea that their jobs are getting paid by the European union. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying every single one was too stupid to understand the whole issue. It's the government's job to run the country and not to dump decisions on people without educating them first or to expect them to be interested in politics. In general, in daily life, I find the Brits more hostile towards foreigners than it was the case when I lived in the country I was born in.

Benozaur, I just read your comment that the Brits wanted the Credit and deal with it. I live in Britain but I am not British. I am from Europe. A few days ago I thought that they thoroughly ruined going on holidays for themselves. I have been living here many years now and they are so horrible hostile towards Europeans and other foreigners. It didn't come as a surprise when they voted to get out of Europe. For my last two sales I received 0.19 for each image. I don't find that great at all. There might be many photographers who wanted the Brexit but I still feel sad that they get so little money for that hard work and all the hours they put into this whole business. I thought we are here all photographers no matter what nationality.

General Stock Discussion / Xpiks

Can I use Xpiks uploader to upload to Alamy? I read on Alamy's website that the correct category needs to be chosen when using FTP uploader like stock photo or LiveNews. I can't choose that using Xpiks.

I am not using Yahoo and don't get any notification not even when a file is approved.

I have hardly any views and no sales on DT :-)  For me iStock is just as bad as DT. I had hoped to do as well with iStock as I do with Fotolia.

Am I doing something wrong? I have just noticed that many of my images on iStock have 0 views. I am not exclusive with them.

Thank you very much. That's very sad. I still get excited when SS sends me an email saying: "congratulations....." I am still trying to find out which images sell and which don't.

I am new to microstock and would love to have notifications per email. I can't find where to turn notification on.

I have recently started uploading on Bigstockphoto. Don't they send email notifications when an image was bought? I don't get any notification.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your questions. I would like to know if videos sell better than photos. Do landscape photos sell? So far I haven't taken any yet.

I have started uploading to DT in January 2016 and many of my images have no views. If I wouldn't be on SS as well I would have given up long ago. I have been on iStock only for about 3 month and also have many images with no views but I guess I need to give it more time.

123RF / Re: New rejection reason: Too Offensive
« on: September 09, 2016, 04:16 »
I was joking. I put a smiley behind my sentence. Well,  I had people sitting on benches next to a fountain, 2 women with their young children. Maybe one or two people walking. A photo of the high street in the city was accepted. I don't know how well editorial photos sell. I wanted to go out to take photos of an event. Maybe now I won't bother. SS wanted a property release form for something that is public and isn't on their list. That was also an editorial. DT at least tells you why they don't want something.

Isn't there a naked person in front of photo?  :) The reasons they come up with. Bigstock just rejected a sunrise for being too soft. No other agency complaint about that image. I had an editorial photo rejected where people are sitting and relaxing in a public square of a city. Maybe they need to be actively doing something for being accepted as editorial?

I have the feeling that Bigstockphoto rejects one out of a few as if that's what they have to do. As if 100 percent acceptance is bad for the reviewer. I had 1 photo out of 75 rejected by iStock. Do reviewers look bad if they accept too many images? Bigstock rejected photos that are happily selling on Fotolia. SS rejected my bestseller on Fotolia twice.

I have no problem with it if they reject a photo for technical reasons but for descriptions that perfectly describe an editorial photo....Why don't they just say they don't want that photo. They have better ones or enough or editorial won't sell......

I had uploaded a photo as editorial on SS. I am 100% sure I ticked the editorial box. I got it rejected. They wanted a model release. I uploaded it again and got it rejected for being too soft. But the absolute best is Bigstockphoto. They rejected 3 of my editorial photos because they don't like the description. All other agencies accepted these images. Bigstockphoto rejects photos both, SS and Fotolia have accepted.

I have checked but nothing is there. Only if I upload directly on their website the images are there. I tried to use DeepMeta but the keywords linked to my images don't show up.

Hi, I uploaded 10 images to 123f and got an email yesterday saying that I was accepted. Why do the 10 files still show as pending? I uploaded 10 editorial files using Xpiks. Where did my files go? I can't find them on 123f. Can't I use Xpiks to upload to 123f? Do I have to do anything after uploading them? No categorising? How do I tell them that these files are editorial? Don't tell me I have to upload on their website only just as I have to do it with iStock.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Editorial photos
« on: August 27, 2016, 10:46 »
I just checked on SS and there are no editorial images of my capital city. On Alamy there are lots of them. I am new to microstock and I am a little bit worried about uploading my images on Alamy. I am always worried that they are not good enough and I really fear getting a rejection from Alamy. I don't want to be banned for 28 days. Apart from that I really would like to know if editorial images taken in Britain will sell well on American websites.

Where to upload editorial photos taken in Britain? Is it best to upload them on Alamy as RM or on the microstock websites?

Photography Equipment / Re: Sony A6000
« on: August 22, 2016, 12:40 »
I did check DXO sensor score a few days ago. For Sony RX100M3 about 445. I have not written it down. Just roughly. A6300 around 1450 and A7ii 2240. I am thinking if the A7ii will drop in price when A7Riii comes out. However, I thought about getting the 16 to 70mm lens for A6300 which will be 105mm. More for less weight. I find that great. The 70mm on my camera is just not enough.

When I zoomed in to 100% I had my images rejected for noise. Since I zoom in 200%  I don't get rejections for noise.
Did you mean that  the A6300 is slightly better when it comes to noise than the RX100M3?
