General Stock Discussion / Re: Sick of getting crumbs
« on: April 03, 2016, 10:28 »
Thank you so much. I guess it's not so much my keywording and description. I don't have 2000 images. Maybe I shouldn't be so fussy. What I don't like and what I wouldn't hang up on my own walls I don't upload. Maybe I just need to go out take more photos and upload photos which I wouldn't buy. You are doing really well. I am happy for you. It gives me hope.

Sorry to ask. What do you mean by SEO optimisation? Some photos I turned into digital art. I don't have a website of my own. I just add photos onto their website. I don't have a paid account there. I spend a lot of time on these photos. Microstock only gets the easy to shoot photos from me. They don't get holiday photos either from me unless it is one that isn't excellent for digital art or canvas prints. I went through a holiday brochure today and someone took a stunning photo in the golden hour in the morning. I wondered if the photographer had put this stunning image on microstock. I just hope he hasn't. He/she should get lots of money for it. It's just stunningly beautiful.

No, I don't have the microstock images on FAA. I have completely different photos on there. Microstock is not getting photos from me which I shot for hanging on someone's walls. Microstock is not getting sunrises or sunsets...from me when all I get is a few cent. These photos were taken specifically for hanging up inside someone's living room...

For a side income Microstock is far too much work and time consuming. Does anyone make money by selling my images that get printed? I am not getting sales on FAA.

I could be treated worse? That made me smile. And there is me thinking if I should upload to Alamy. :-)

Adobe Stock / Re: Rejection Reason ??
« on: March 22, 2016, 13:42 »
I only upload photos but I was astonished when a really good photo was rejected which were accepted by other agencies. It was sharp, no noise in it, not blurry....what frustrates me most is the endless list of reasons. None of them fitted that photo. I was doing just fine until about 2 weeks ago. What happened to Fotalia? Dreamstime was at least so kind to write that they don't want any more hand bags. I don't mind having a photo rejected but I want a proper reason. If they write that it is technically OK but they just don't want it that's at least acceptable.

General Stock Discussion / Re: How long are reviews on 500px?
« on: March 21, 2016, 08:08 »
I have a very good photo but only in 72 DPI. DO I need to upscale it to 300 DPI for 500px? I can't find any information on the internet. All my other photos on there are 300DPI. Have not sold one yet. Have them on there for 6 weeks but they have not been reviewed yet.

Newbie Discussion / New to microstock
« on: March 20, 2016, 11:22 »
Hi, I am new to microstock and have a question. I uploaded for the first time an image to Dreamstime using their Android app. I didn't get asked if I have a model release form. Now the image is on their website as editorial. But I do have a model release form. What do I do now?

Yes, most are like that apart from a very few award winning companies.

Is there a manual of how to get rid of the grey? I also have this grey on my images.

Most companies are bad. Some award winning companies pay 1.20 for a 10 minute long survey. They pay once you have earned 15. But most pay hardly anything. You have to invest a lot more time to get that 1.

No thanks, I don't want to fill out surveys. Taking photos for microstock takes a lot of time, time for ideas, setting it all up, buying items, taking the photo, editing, uploading.... It is not okay what they pay us. Without us they would have an empty website. Good for you if you get a few pence for your hobby, but some are professional photographers who take photos for a living.

They are not getting anything free from me. Soon we will have to pay them for letting us upload a photo.

Hi, I am totally new to microstock. What you have written made me smile. A friend of mine answers surveys and makes money fast with not much time wasted. Microstock is shocking. Unless you can snap a photo on a mobile without editing it's just not worth it. Is there no other way to sell photos? Pixersize buys microstock photos from Fotalia and sells them on canvas for lots of money while we get one pence.
