Software / Mpeg Streamclip Help
« on: August 03, 2016, 15:12 »
Hello everyone,

I have a problem with converting movies with photo jpeg codec by using mpeg stream clip..

Selecting "export to quick time" and "apple photo jpeg" codec creates a output three times bigger than the original movie size. I am attaching a screenshot of this.

When i select "export to other format" then select "quicktime movie" then select photo jpeg codec creates an output as big as the original movie size. I am also attaching a screenshot of this.

Converting with h.264 works fine. I get small size converted movies. Bu i haven't managed to get small size movies with photo jpeg codec with mpeg stream clip.

Is there anyone who knows what i am doing wrong? Any suggestions?

I have no idea what the kit lens was, or what the exposure time was, but I'd be looking at an unstable tripod, droopy ballhead, shaking ground (trucks going by, people playing ball games next to you, wind, you touching the camera or some other source of motion that moved things during the exposure time.

Well Jo Ann, i was wondering if there would be an another reason besides the ones you mentioned..

i guess i have to check the things more carefully next time.. Thanks for the link

I recently took some night photos and all the long exposure ones are super blurry even if i used tripod. Can anyone tell me why that happened? What should i do to fix it next time?

Ps: I used Canon d700 with kit lens

Latest version doesn't search on editorial images. Is there a bug? or on purpose?

Newbie Discussion / Ranking Keywords on istock
« on: May 19, 2016, 13:58 »
How important do you guys think to rank keywords when submitting to istock since checking the keywords' meanings take some time already?

I got this error message after i downloaded: xpiks-qt cant be opened because it is from an unidentified developer."

Previous version was working with no error.

Edit: It was on my part. I fixed it.

If SS is now at 70 million images, why does Alamy say front page, largest collection in the world 65 million. Should somebody tell them.

Alamy claims they have the largest stock photo collection. Not images..

Hi. Glad you liked it. I didn't quite understand what do you mean by "uploading time seemed longer comparison to fetch". What fetch? Where?

Fetch is a file transfer software that supports ftp and sftp for Apple.

I uploaded my images yesterday with xpiks for the first time. It really saved much time and thank you for that. I might be wrong but uploading time seemed longer comparison to fetch. Besides that i liked whole thing. Thumbs up!

Newbie Discussion / Review time on 123rf
« on: March 09, 2016, 06:45 »
Is it me or 123f is really slow on reviewing? It's been for more than 2 weeks that my images have been waiting for review. Shutterstock is really fast on that. How is your experience with 123f and others?

I like your work!

I would continue shooting what you like even though your images are more artsy and some won't sell much, but I guess eventually you will learn to find a compromise between what you love to shoot and what has a higher commercial value.

You will have rejections sometimes and it will teach you what to correct. Don't avoid critique forums, at SS for instance you might get some particularly harsh and straightforward critique - don't take it personally, just learn  :D

And don't be in a hurry, just keep building your portfolio little by little. The fact that you're a graphic designer is definately a huge advantage since (I gather) you can diversify your portfolio with vectors or even graphic motion, or use your skills in post processing.

Travel images do sell (I do only travel) so wish you best of luck!

PS And hey, don't quit your day job ;D

thanks for the suggestions lanabyko..

I have no intention to quit my day job :) i love it more than all other jobs combined  :)

I use "suggest keywords" option on shutterstock and copy-paste keywords to other sites. But selecting the meanings of the keywords on istock takes so much time and really annoys me.  >:(

I shoot a lot of travel and I find that and simple (i.e. uncluttered) but interesting shots with copy space do well for me on the micros.

this is good to know. I really like taking travel pictures.
