Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia Joins Adobe
« on: March 27, 2015, 06:21 »
Yep, my chart also looks similar to sharpshot's. On the other hand- I can also claim that my sales in March doubled to that of last month (after Feb being WME). Performance is far off the level still reached in 2013 and light years away from 2010/2011 levels.

On the Fotolia side it is also worth noting that they've climbed probably by 9 points since the beginning of the year - which is quite a bit, I think.

General Stock Discussion / Re: February 2015 sales
« on: March 01, 2015, 18:50 »
32% less downloads compared to Feb 2014, but rev is up by 31%.
Again, my income came largely from Stocksy (80%, up 95% over Jan '15, up 119% over Feb '14).
WME at FT - made less than in the month I started there. also revenue is down by 89% compared to last Feb. So - FT is close to being dead for me. SS and DT performed slightly below average.

Off Topic / Re: Razzie Awards for January - Worse Performers
« on: February 01, 2015, 14:10 »
Mine goes to Fotolia - worst month ever, made less than 10USD on a 900+ port. Lowest RPD due to my sales being mainly subs. My Jan RPD was also 20 cents below my average RPD at SS - the main subscription side to date. If the RPD at FT is a foreboding of the things to come there...

How are you doing at Stocksy Melanie? Now that seems like a nice place to be at. Looks like one of the very few agencies out there that still gives a rats about their suppliers!

I am doing fine at Stocksy - it's been my best earner from the very early days of joining. Of course, I also experience up and downs over there (the last two months have been below average there) - but it still remained my best earner, beating all my micros that have bigger ports. Which also means that in shooting first and foremost I care about my stocksy port and then about the rest.

I am so glad to hear it Melanie, I love your work, and yes it looks like your style is very good fit for Stocksy. Wish you even more success this year!

Thank you Elena! That is very sweet! :)

A sidenote (after looking at ruxpriencdiam's post) - doesn't it make anyone else uneasy how many private information is available to the public through these court materials? *shutters*

BTW - who signed her model release as a witness?

Had my Best Year Ever. Started in stock photography in 2007, but in the last years I had seen my income decline. In 2013 I joined Stocksy and it made all the difference. In 2014 I doubled my 2013 income with Stocksy bringing in 69% of my income. Sure, I am a small contributor, but I find it stunning that even though my port on Stocksy is the smallest compared to all other agencies, it brings in the biggest return. Guess where I'll be focusing my efforts in 2015?

General Stock Discussion / Re: November Earnings
« on: December 03, 2014, 16:05 »
I don't have much seasonal content so I was down in November by 33% over October. However, compared to last year I am up 51% in $$ (but -26% in DLs)

Stocksy 58%
SS 28%
DT 8%
FT 6%

123RF / Re: is 123rf a worthy-to-upload stock agence?
« on: October 11, 2014, 04:07 »
No, they aren't worth uploading - at least in my book.

They were consistently the agency with the lowest RPI and lowest RPD, have an intransparent credit system - where credit values in Dollars can be very low - I received an Extended license sale where the license must have been sold for 27USD - I received about 9. When I deleted a file I found the file still in the system a year later - even though it was gone from my portfolio (and I had alerted them to the problem and asked them to remove the file earlier as well).  This eroded my trust in the agency, I left.

I am not talking about the poll alone, I talk about this thread in general. From the poll I see the spread of RPIs - that is helpful already - is RPI spread from 0.00 to 1.00USD, or to 3-4 $ USD, or to 10 USD. Also, being in the business for some time it helps me guestimate which ports perform better and which don't (for some contributors I can just look it up based on the info they posted in this thread). I know this information is not statistically accurate - but my information is now better than it was before the thread was opened - hence, helpful thread.

But again, a 12month average RPI would be even more helpful. ;)

That would be way too much trouble to figure out. I'd have to go back to see how many images I had online each month.

I've been keeping record on this for over a year, hence, I have the number. But certainly do not expect everyone to have this number. It is hard to figure this out in hindsight.  Just think this could be helpful - also seeing how my 12mRPI develops over time gives me some interesting insights.

I personally find this thread very interesting. For me it helps me understand where I stand with my type of portfolio and upload patterns......

how does  the poll help you when type of portfolio and upload patterns are PRECISELY the information missing in the poll?

I am not talking about the poll alone, I talk about this thread in general. I personally find this thread very interesting. For me it helps me understand where I stand with my type of portfolio and upload patterns. I think the RPI value in this poll could be even more helpful if we post a 12 month average RPI - this evens out monthly anomalies.  My vote bracket would not change based on that.

(In my personal performance I need to say though that my 12mRPI has been constantly falling since the beginning of the year  ??? )

Compared to August, which was BME I am down by 37%, compared to last September I am up 56%

Stocksy - 68% (-51% from August, +245% from Sep 2013)
SS - 15% (+76% from August (which was really slow), -6% from Sep 2013)
DT - 10% (+114% from August, +78% from Sep 2013) - DT is really picking up for me this year
FT - 7% (+6% from August, -51% from Sep 2013)

overall - and thanks to Stocksy - my Stockyear is going rather well. Revenue up by 127% - I am going to have a BYE - but given that I am generally speaking a low earner this is probably not saying much.  :)

123RF / Re: What's an LEL?

I thought my cut of 9$ something for an EL (another type, though) was low. It was the final straw though - closed my account.

Thank you for this feature, really nice and helpful (though I do not like all the results it shows, but that isn't your fault).
*thumbs up!*

When i closed my account with 123rf they asked me "for their records" what the reasons were for me leaving.

My response (shortened quote): .." feel that you are trying to compete in the market by strongly undercutting prices - a policy that for me as the artist is not beneficial at all and that I do not wish to support any further."

And that was before the download packs made any impact... .

I am sure they value contributors ...  :-\ :-\ [/sarcasm off]

Is stocksy a great agency?  Take away the elitist element, is it making more for contributors than those agencies that the rest of the great unwashed contribute to? (no sarcasm here, genuine question)

I see no evidence that the OP is not concerned with a USP - quite reasonable that this might take a bit of thought but a different USP is not the same as no USP.

No, stocksy is a very poor seller - and not just "personally for me". They posted numbers on site -of course labeling them great-and-whatever (kickass?)- trusting their audience not to bother or be able to do even a back-of-the-envelope calculation. I can and did. The numbers are poor, and of course confidential to stocksy members. I think stocksy is loaded with enthusiastic talented amateurs who are still in a hooray mode and just flattered by someone actually paying for their shot.

All this doesn't apply to you if are magically exempt from their hipster curation, able to upload usual stock images that are proven to be of the selling type :)

Well that is your experience, mine is different. Stocksy is a good earner for me and there are a lot of features beyond income I love about stocksy (contributor treatment, contributor community). But I guess for you I'd probably be just one of the "in-hooray-mode" amateurs.

General Stock Discussion / Re: June 2014 earning results
« on: July 03, 2014, 04:16 »
Due to some Stocksy ELs in May I had expected that June would probably much lower. I thought - unless another Stocksy EL would come in, I might be down by about 66% - prediction came true - down by about 63% compared to May 2014. However, up by 89% compared to June 2013. My income split

Stocksy: 58%
SS: 20%
DT: 18
FT: 4% (WME, 73% down compared to June 2013)

123rf: 0 - account finally closed in the middle of the month.  :)

I deleted my port from 123rf. Unhappy with their pricing strategy, specifically for ELs. Now I found that images I deleted last year can still be found - but i cannot delete them at all. Waiting for my final payment and then I am out there. Currently looking for another agency worth to be supported. I am looking for an agency that treats contributors fairly.
