May I ask if it is worth uploading at Zoonar?
d
I closed my Zoonar account after about 18 months, I had one or two sales. Definitely not worth it for me.

I have received mine just today.

Finally got my first sale on FAA today...this is after 1 year!

Congratulations! So, is 10 - 15% the normal mark up? I have no idea what to add to their prices.

I've had around 70 sales since I joined in 2012, some were cards and pillows and the like, but most are still prints. Even with piddly amounts such as $7.00 return on a shower curtain, my return per sale this year is above $100 per, as print sales usually bring in somewhere between $100-300 per sale, so a handful of sales every month or so makes the $30/year worthwhile.

$100-300 per sale is fantastic! Your art is obviously beautiful!

The search is really bad, I searched for "baby" and of the four irrelevant pics that came up none had baby in the tags or even part of a tag.

I am currently averaging almost $40 / day from footage on SS with a port of around 750 clips.

On pace to be my best month ever by far. Definitely a huge jump in sales for some reason. Haven't really grown the port for a few months too. Seems like there may be something causing it. Maybe a big marketing push?

It should also be my best month in the two years I've been doing stock, but my best month is easy to beat. This is a good time for me to test the theory of a cap because if there is a cap I won't have too many sales from here to the end of the month. Time will tell.

The weird thing about this is they must be all from the same buyer as the last ten sales that I can see are the same buyer bought within seconds of each other from the same city. (I don't know how to check the rest of them). All of the sales appeared at once.

Not sure what you're trying to say here Niktol? I don't believe I said I had no money.
You should be worried. Too many cents and dollars can corrupt an unprepared mind.

What I am trying to jokingly say is that you shouldn't be worried about a few more bucks coming your way. Every now and then I have the entire portfolio purchased by an odd buyer. Usually subs. Usually in Europe. It's normal. No danger there.

That's the trouble with the printed word, it's hard to know in what context it was meant. Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks for your replies. I would love to see it continue.

It's a high number for me with a small port. Over 30 subscription sales, this has never happened before and I'm a bit suspicious. Most of the images are for one industry but a few are just outdoor scenes. Even an image that has never sold before. I barely make payout in one month so it's very unusual for me. I wish I could think it's a sign of things to come but I don't think so  ::) Am I in danger of the sales being reversed?

General Stock Discussion / Re: alamy and microstock

I have the same concerns about uploading solely to Alamy and missing sales on the micros so I have uploaded to both. I only have a small port, from 400-600 depending on the agency. In the almost two years I've been doing this my total earnings are in this order IS, SS, FT, AL, BS, DT... although very meagre amounts from all. I don't have the same incentive as my first year and haven't uploaded many this year.

I would gladly upload only to Alamy if I thought it was worthwhile but I just don't see me getting the sales to replace the others.

Aren't they just asking that you upload it to DP though?

PMS?

I have a nasty feeling the OP means Pre-Menstrual Syndrome - shorthand among some unenlightened folks for bad tempered and irrational. There are lots of other better ways to get that thought across.

Or it could be something else :)

I'm pretty sure Quasar is trying to backtrack now and might possibly regret that sexist comment.

I've also had my rejection... I'm not surprised, I'm definitely not hip enough for them. At least I can move on and upload elsewhere. Good luck to you all!

I also think it's a bit easier now. Do you think the categories really help? I don't bother too much with them but I also don't get many sales either  :-\

Any idea which is the best site to upload live news for Australia? This is just for future reference.

Have you read any of their instructions? It can be a bit confusing at first to use but you can have up to 50 keywords on most sites.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock Custom is born
« on: September 28, 2017, 17:04 »
You'd be willing to sell Shutterstock worldwide perpetual copyright to photos in your portfolio for $12, less than one EL.

The more I think about it the more I think there are no clients; SS is just writing briefs themselves to get people to sell them copyrights to photos for $12.

I remember people being absolutely incensed that SS was doing away with the standard $28 for an EL and replacing it with what might be (and has turned out to be, in most cases) less than $28 for an EL. Some people opted out of ELs because of it.

Yet you still own the copyright to those images, and they still sell for all kinds of prices in all kinds of places.

But for $12, you'll give your rights away, accept the condition that you can never mention Shutterstock in relation to those images, accept that you can never sue Shutterstock, and allow Shutterstock to compile a portfolio of your images that competes with you, tweaking their secret algorithm to place the images you sold to them at the top of the search while pushing your port further down.

That's exactly what I thought when I read that they were after generic pics of a city. I thought DT's offer of $25 for an accepted assignment pic was lousy! I joined this just to check it out but I'm pretty sure I won't be accumulating any points. I also doubt if I would have an assignment offer as I'm in the back of beyond down under.

ETA: Oops, spoke too soon! Just checked my email. I have an OVERSEAS assignment for $50 for 4 shots! But of course if I have pics from a previous visit I can use those! OMG this just gets better doesn't it?! They're dreamin!!

My husband is a builder and so I have access to many things building related I can sell as stock. I've found one fence being used by many different companies as an example of their work. The same with houses being used by builders. I just figured it was the done thing.

Because it said we can continue to upload as many as 100 I have added a few more because I figure if they reject me I can then upload them elsewhere. Hopefully they won't take too long to decide if they like us or not.

I'm the same with my Facebook page, I don't use it for my stock images. I haven't linked it but I have made a portfolio on another site to send them.

I'm also wondering like Jonbull about the instagram look they seem to prefer. It's not my normal way of processing but if that's what they like then maybe that's what I need to upload. I have a feeling younger photographers will be preferred. I think you have a great chance of getting in. Me, not so much ;) At least I'm in Australia, that might give me a chance.

I don't use Instagram much at all with only ten posts. Would it be more harmful to link it or should I start uploading more?
