Hey Manuel, I would recommend Cinelike D. That's what I used before spending the $100 for the Vlog L upgrade. Cinelike D is flatter than Standard and might require a few seconds more in post but will get better results. To get the best out of the camera pay the $100 to use Vlog L which will give you 2 extra stops of dynamic range (but will require more time in post). Hope this helps!

I'm not a tech but isn't it supposed your camera can shoot raw or ProRes in order to make any further "honest" ProRes files?
I'm not all that tech savvy either but I have read in creativecow and other forums where professional editors would much rather have Prores HQ than Proress 422 if they need to make further color/lighting changes. They had explained that it doesn't matter what camera a clip is shot with. They stated that they can't stand it if they have to do further manipulation to a file that has been exported at Prores 422. Apparently Prores HQ shows less grain when stretching highlights and shadows. I shoot raw with my Panasonic GH4 using the Vlog L upgrade providing 2 extra stops of dynamic range. Again I'm no tech either so I'm not sure if I'm still exporting at a higher quality file than needed. But in my opinion, appealing to editors is kinda the name of the game so I'm willing to deal with the bigger file sizes.

I use Prores HQ which seems to be the editors choice if they need to do any further color correcting or color grading. I started with Prores 422 and tried Photo-JPEG but want to provide the highest quality for whoever is buying my clips. I've done some research on this and most professional editors want Prores HQ to maintain the highest quality through any further correcting. Anything less gets a more grain when stretching those highlights and shadows. I'm sure there will plenty of people saying this is not necessary and it makes the file size too big, but I feel good about providing the best quality.

Hi I'm looking for a site to start an account for my 12 year old son. He's quickly becoming a better photographer than me and I would love to start an account for him to start earning money at a young age. Has anyone had experience with this? Based on some looking around a few months ago it looked like most sites require you to be 18 years old.

Auto focus OFF Image stabilization OFF Self timer ON
I've always been told not to manually push the shutter on a long exposure to avoid exactly what you are talking about
Congratulations! As far as I know it's extended licence sale, very nice thing It's either for some big project (movie, ad) or for sensitive use (tobacco, overweight). By the way try google image search with a screenshot in a month or two, we've found one of our clips used in Vodafone ad this way Has anyone sold 4K with EL on Shutterstock?
I sold a couple "Clip Packs" last month for $102 each. They were 4k but not sure about Extended License.

Well I appreciate everyones advice and constructive criticism. Upgrading my equipment is for my freelance work just as much as it is for stock. I was just trying to figure out options for the stock footage shot with it. As far as making due with what I have... I've found the gh4 very limiting with low light and no 4k slow motion. The Phantom 3 Professional shoots only decent video and less quality photos. I'm new to this industry, but figuring things out pretty fast based on reading other peoples experiences. I believe to keep growing and taking things to a higher level, more professional equipment is needed. In some ways, a R3D Raven and Inspire 1 Raw are still kinda lower end equipment compared to what a lot of stuff is shot with these days. Thanks again to everyone involved in this discussion, I always like bouncing ideas off other creative people.

Thanks for the detailed response, I truly appreciate that info. I'm currently building my portfolio of vids on Getty but I'll look into the exclusive contracts.

Haha, I live in Washington State where it is legal. When I first started selling micro stock over a year ago I had an opportunity to shoot photos at a grow house for medical marijuana dispensaries. My focus is on video, but I can't lie, those pics sell well. I don't actually even smoke weed anymore. I kinda wish I could add links to my video portfolios and not photos.

Hmmm... am I able to sell just those clips exclusive on Getty and still have the rest of my portfolio spread across the other agencies? Do you have experience with exclusive RM clips there? and if so, do you believe that would bring in more money than selling at a high price point on Pond5?

I'm looking for suggestions about the best site to sell high quality videos. I'm currently filming with a Panasonic GH4 and a Phantom 3 Professional, which are great tools for microstock, but I'll soon be upgrading to much higher quality equipment and I just can't see myself throwing those clips in with the rest of my microstock portfolio. My plan is to get a R3D Raven with a Movi and an Inspire 1 Raw. I would prefer to go exclusive with those clips and sell them at a higher price point than my other clips. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience in this area? Maybe sell them for around $400 each on Pond5?

Awesome thanks for the info. I've tried Dreamstime for individual pics but I think the Depositphotos widget sounds like exactly what I've been looking for.

Can anyone recommend a stock photo site that allows me to embed my portfolio on my personal website?? I use Nimia to embed my video portfolio on my website, but it's hard to believe there isn't any photo sites that allow the same sort of thing.

I never had much success with P5 until the changes a few months ago. Now I get a few video sales a month but almost never images. My portfolio there is just over 500 clips and images. It's weird because the same images sell on other sites all day.

Thanks for the feedback. I uploaded i think about 80 of my better clips thinking something would sell by now. I only have about 600 total so maybe I'll keep at it.

I read something somewhere that Motionelements is worth uploading to a while back. About 6 months ago I uploaded about 85 of my best clips and haven't had 1 sale yet. Is this similar to other contributors experiences or should I add more and stick with them?

From when I started at the beginning of 2015 to now, I've learned that as my port grows, so does the consistency in sales. You never know what editors might be looking for in any particular month, so the higher quantity of diverse clips you have, the more constant sales you have. At least that's what I've observed.

Fully embeddable library and better sharing options for social media. And of course higher commission percentage.

That's exactly what i do. Adds 2 stops of dynamic range. Takes a little more time color grading but i can see the difference.

I just looked at your video link...I was thinking that my photo library from Fotolia would be on my website, but if one wanted to purchase a photo, they would be directed over to Fotolia to finish the transaction. It looks like your video payments are made right on your site.
It's nice that Nimia makes videos able to purchase straight from my website, but I'd be fine if I could embed photos with a link to the Micro site (without just creating a gallery on my Squarespace site and manually adding links for each photo).

March was a BME for me and my small Port spread across the bigger Micros. FT came in second to SS. After reading all the hype a couple months ago about FT picking up due to Adobe buying it, I started adding videos to the 100 or so photos I had with them. Sold a couple Vids this month. They were 4k clips. 1 sold as HD for $28 and 1 sold as 720p for $19. Not quite "on fire", but it is progress.
