Dreamstime.com / Re: DT has died for me

Why it should take time??? It is microstock. Photos can be sold directly from the first second images are online. I dont get for what they need the time.

Yes... But if you dont accept that you are the only one getting short. It takes a large part of strike to send a message but it will never happen. Top contributors will not stop submitting and loose 10k per month just because they get 30 percent commission. Or you go and take or leave with nothing. This is with everything these days. Just like politics. I prefer to take and not be alone behind. I tried that way but i noticed that i earned only 30 percent in total then before. I prefer to sell 1000 images for 1 dollar then 1 for 100. I will not cut myself.

I am completely new to microstock. I do have an acceptance rate of 77% on DT.  Only one image rejected for technical reasons. However, SS accepted only 70% out of the few images I hav guye on DT. Micro, I did read that my camera makes soft focus. The noise this camera can produce is just shocking and I shoot with ISO80.

SS is very strict on white balance and depth of field. If you start to understand both most photos will be accepted. Of course still keep in mind a good composition.

70% is anyway very good. You dont need to worry. Your Sony RX100 has a small sensor then a APS-C camera or larger. So it is more challenging to have low noise.

Microstock Services / Re: Submission workflows

Mine is very simple...

Since SS is like 50% percent of my total income they have priority. I submit mainly to SS to use my time as good as possible and whenever i have time left i submit to the other ones.

I only know that SS report for first quarter says that they paid to contributors 33 million. Thats 130 million to expect for 2016. In 2014 it was 84 million. I think Alamy paid 130 million in all the time they exist. So SS paid in one year the same as alamy in all their lifetime. First ace belongs to ss for unknown time.

I agree with Mantis.

You can not delete such kind of images. If you keep only popular topics then many clients that are looking for something else will be disappointed. I sold the craziest things.

Client should have the largest choice as possible.

I don't think the amount of images is a issue. I think it is a advantage. The issue is bad keywording or a not good working search engine.

Look on the right and you will see that the agencies with the largest collections are on the top. Again for the client a large choice is important. If you see it on the contributor perspective then it is a different story. But as in every business the client is important.

My is:

1. Shutterstock
2. Istock
3. Fotolia
4. Alamy
5. 123RF

84
I know for example user worldplanet has Alamy as best selling agency. Number two shutterstock. I hope he sees this thread and can confirm. It is possible.

85
Still i can not explain why only Alamy? And what reason somebody would do this. I think if only for example 5 new members coming from Alamy reporting earnongs of over 1000 net per month the climb could be realistic. If they where not reporting before.

86
I dont get what is the advantage for the one that doctors Alamy up?????? Then SS also could be doctored. All other agencies including low earners have chance to be doctored. Why only Alamy you think???? For me it is simple. Alamy is doing well for many and those are voting here. There are here some people reporting alamy beating SS. If you dont get many sales then it is because you make typucal microstock photos or bad keywording. One thing is sure ... Alamy has great potential.

87
Just today again a Alamy contributor showed a part of his sales from yesterday. He wanted to show all his distributor sales. It where 17 sales with a net total of 640 dollars for most editorial photos. This is 640 dollars net in 1 single day only distributors.

Such a performance can only come from an Agency that is doing very well. You just have to know what to sell. In the contributor case editorial.

88
Recently some contributors reported 2000+ dollar sales. So 1000 dollar net per sale. Add this in the poll and voila.... already 1 reason why Alamy is climbing. Next to that it seems indeed that people came over here to vote.

In my case i have to admit that Alamy is the only Agency that is on the move. Blogs are updated regular. Forum is alive. Contributor tools are updated time to time with one of the biggest update coming soon.

For me also the only agency where the sales are growing every month. Others in general having half revenue with double port compared to last year. To be short i think it is very realistic to see Alamy on that position.

In general i see that people are making good money on Alamy. Yes their ports are large. Much larger then microstockers in general have BUT you should not forget that those Alamy big earners on the forum are mainly editorial shooters. Creating a editorial port goes in general much faster then a commercial one. Having 10.000 editorial photos instead of 2000 commercial ones is not a strange thing.

There are many agencies that accepts editorial and sells well for me:

Shutterstock
Istock
Dreamstime
123rf
Depositphotos
Bigstockphoto
Alamy

I would not say it to colleagues at my work to avoid unnecessary stress but since it is a forum it is different.

I am always wondering how somebody can have a complain about search engine and thinks that it is broken just because his or her images are not anymore on page 1, instead taken by other contributors. Then they check and check every day until the images are on page 1 again and then they decide the engine is fixed. ???

Do you really believe that you have a special ticket and only your images should be on first page? Everybody that sells images on SS has right to be on page 1 and everybody can fall into page 2 and deeper.

Adobe Stock / Editorial Use Only - Can we expect it?
« on: May 04, 2016, 13:34 »
Hello Fotolia and contributors.

Editorial Use Only images are doing very well in Microstock and sales are only increasing. More and more agencies are adding the editorial use only category. Dont you think it is time for Fotolia to introduce it? It is one thing in my wishlist.....  :D :D :D

Is there somewhere maybe any clue or plan about it?

I understand exactly what you are writing. Without atacking anyone personally. There are many nice people here but in general it is all about making destructive comments or see the whole industry black. Dont understand me wrong. I like critics but only if they are constructive. To many people that want to create a negative imagination about all the stock agencies. Complaining about competition. Complaining that their position in the search engine changed. For every little change the agency is here taken down in a level that new contributors are scared to even start. There is a chance for everybody in microstock and that is a fact. I spend much time on the Alamy forum because there the comments are like a education instead of black words.

Gongratulations for the sale mate.

I just think there is no place for everyone on page 1. Or we need to have million images per page. I think it is good that others can also have a chance to be at first page. Mirco

Dreamstime is also image exclusive. But if you want to be fully exclusive to dreamstime then no way to upload to other agencies.

Mentioned was exclusive to dreamstime so i tought it was about going fully to dreamstime.

Going exclusive with dt means that you can not upload to any other agency. Would you really give up on Ss?

Alamy.com / Re: Wedding Photography as RM on Alamy
« on: April 12, 2016, 06:15 »
Its like said indeed. It doesnt matter the fact if a image is RM of RF. Shutterstock has a large collection of RF editorial photos. You could also sell other photos for editorial use only on SS as RF. Alamy will soon introduce also editorial use only RF.

License doesnt matter it is all about what you agree with your client.

Exactly... Buyer will buy at the agency. You have a need and you look for it and not vice versa. When i post on facebook it is just to promote the agencies.

98
I do t think so. Buyers will not look for images on social media. And nobody will download a photo just because it is posted on facebook. Stock agencies offer choice and buyers will go directly there. Mirco

Hi, I am also a newbie. You are doing well. Your post gave me hope. Most of my photos are on Dreamstime. I started 2 month ago but have not sold anything yet. I have only 15 photos on there so far. Congratulations to your sales.

Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk

Yes..you will make it also. Just to help you... 15 photos online are far away from expecting sales. Get your first 1000 on sale and then you can expect. Good lock with your journey. Mirco

I am a newbie, and I have to say SS has some of the toughest standards on MS. Pictures that I think will sail through are rejected. (Pics from same session go through) And pics that I don't think will get accepted, go right through! I don't get it.
My portfolio for what its worth...

Yes and no. On one hand they expect technically more then other agencies but on the other hand as far it concerns subject they accept as good as everything with some exceptions.

Just make sure that you photos are in focus with right exposure and white balance. Next to that a decent composition and you are in.
