We still hold the copyright, but they have taken an perpetual license to use our images and are paying us a one-time payment of an amazing $0.069 per image. At least that's the amount I got for each image. None of us would agree to something like that. But the way the agencies set it up, if you don't leave, you agree.

On a purely per-image uploaded basis, my total is different: $0.118, so the metric must be something else. Mat said it was heavily weighted toward sales totals, so they must be ignoring the pictures I have of box elder bugs that no one has ever bought

I use it and its always worked for me. Sounds like a fluke.

28
I must admit Im surprised not even one person donated. Not even one?! Im not one to upload to the free sites, but seriously!

29
I think that it should be read carefully.

The full news says that this decision apply to image "created by AI" without human interactions; and it's very explicit saying it.
A machine creating an output without human.

So it cannot be applied to any works created with prompt, or any human interactions

I dont think it would be enough to say I gave the AI a prompt, so its copyrightable. Presumably the specific AI painting at issue in this case came from a prompt. Saying a prompt is enough to assign copyright could create ownership issues with human authors. If I was asked to Take a photo in the style of Jackson Pollock of this mountain or create a short story about a cat who lives in an apartment and solves crimes I would hold the copyright, not the person who asked me to make the work.

Now I want to read  a story about Inspector Fluffy, PI

The addition of the portfolio categories intrigues me even more, as the major categories are pretty closely balanced with his sales percentages. Ive got a significant imbalance in my portfolio sales as I have all of ten industry images but one of them makes up probably 20% of my total sales across my entire portfolio. I got really lucky with it and keeping trying to replicate it unsuccessfully.

31
Spike, I agree that the distribution of images would be a big help, but theres no need to be quite that forceful about it. We all tend to get super defensive if someone comes down on us.

32
How is this comically oversized. Im writing this on a 37 laptop as we speak.

33
The strike is an interesting thought. Jeopardys end credits says they buy stock from Alamy and Shutterstock, so its definitely possible.

34
They could consider balancing that by paying out 35%-40% instead of 33...;)

Can you imagine how the other agencies would cringe and die if Adobe raises royalties?

Even 1% more would send a message.

Back in 2020 Adobe restructured royalties, which was a raise for most contributors. I thought that would lock in the other agencies. Instead, shutter stock cut everybody a few months later

Im a big fan of the M.C Escher table and chairs.

36
i have redeemed my code too! :D

it's been two weeks now that I only have sales on Mondays,Thursdays and Fridays

Your other buyers and I got together and decided to golf on Wednesdays. ;D

37
SVH is trolling. The best response is to go back to working on your own portfolio and ignoring them.

38
I received a revised 1099 from DT in the mail this week, so it appears they're fixing the problem.

39
How is that even possible?! Even my best Alamy sale doesnt come close.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Rejects
« on: February 20, 2023, 21:11 »
i've had same experience -100% rejection on 23 lots of 25 submitted a week apart - and i had selected only images that had been taken at other sites
update - next batch had about 50% accepted, latest was 100% accepted, including a dozen Dall-e images.  content from same shoots

How do you get Dall-e images accepted? All of mine are rejected for quality.

Well at least Adobe is trying to avoid flooding the database with poor quality images. Hurray to Adobe, I guess :)

How dare you insult my catalog of 52,000 photos of the same tomato.

41
Waiting on the updated forms at least gives me a reasonable excuse for not doing my taxes yet.

What about the Lizard People? Where do they fit into this?

You are probably thinking of the Cardassians here. While they have been described as somewhat lizard like or reptile like, this is mainly based on purely superficial similarities. They are clearly a humanoid species, proven by their ability to successfully interbreed with Bajorans.

I knew Gul Dukat was in the mix somewhere.

43
also - most likely they are 'chemtrails' (not contrails). depends on altitude and length, and whether it dissipates into a cloud (in which case its a chemtrail).
the ones spraying chemicals in the sky are most likely military, although sometimes they go in aircraft that looks like regular aircraft.

Oh honey, we gots a live one here!  Lol.

To the OP, youre likely fine as you probably cant identify the aircraft or company.

Personally I believe our Russian colleagues do not support the war.
Naivete 100%. There, 90-95% of people are poisoned by propaganda. Of course, some may not support the war in the literal sense, but ask them whose Crimea and Donbass and most will tell you that this is Russia. Putin's support there is huge. Almost all stockers from Russia, in the description of the photo from Crimea they write that Crimea is Russia. This is propaganda, this is support for terrorism, occupation, war and genocide of the Ukrainian people.

Among those who dont support the war, can they say so publicly? Even on an anonymish forum like MSG? Or will they end up arrested?

If this was my first time ever uploading to DT, the new interface wouldnt bother me, but its definitely slower than the old system and I dont like that it rechecks boxes that it used to leave however youd set them before.

46
Never have I been more pleased to owe someone $20.

As I recall, Pond5 only sends out 1099s if youve earned more than $600.  I always have to compute my taxable income from them manually as a result.

Tick, tock, tick tock,
60 days before the bet between cascoly and pigsinspace ends.

So far, no news but bad news in peoples mailboxes from Adobe.

A bet I would like to lose, not win.

Been to Germany a few weeks ago, there are recycling machines at the super market, you insert one empty plastic bottle and out comes 25 cents, euro 25 cents.

Lucky. In the USA its 5 cents, and even then its only certain states. Except Michigan, where its 10 cents, but unless you can steal a large van loaded with cans to make the trip, its not worth it.

Lol, really? That's actually a Kramer/Newman idea in one of the Seinfeld episodes.  ;D

Who do you think Kramer stole the idea from!
