General Stock Discussion / Re: Coronavirus ?
« on: March 20, 2020, 10:02 »
Spain is poor. Yes. And from Spain we know that there is the possibility that in summer, infections will drop. We will soon face the second wave of the Covid in the coming winter. Forget about the economy and start taking action as politicians try to calm down with jokes on social media.

Objective not to spread. We will invoice when this ends. Many countries with record families of indebtedness and no social support will resemble Spain, but Spain in 1939. The policy must give way to the cabinet of health experts.

We are land with a history. And we are the country committed to saving lives. Then when this is over, there will be politics.

Experts have already announced that the virus does not understand borders or the economy. Of course the policy on social networks does not prevent contagion.

I am not going to discuss the level of SECURITY in its broad concept that we have, nor am I going to argue that until recently we were among the happiest countries on the planet.

While the politicians are beginning to live up to their citizens, take good care of yourselves.
It's not all about politicians...it's the capitalism that doesn't work anymore and we will fall with it...

General Stock Discussion / Re: Coronavirus ?
« on: March 16, 2020, 10:49 »
I've just read the news that Donald Trump, the US president, tried to secure the exclusive for the coronavirus vaccine to the United States, making it unavailable to the rest of the world!  :o

The vaccine is being developed (soon to be tested in humans) by a German company, and after the refusal of the company to give the US the exclusive, Trump tried to buy the company.

The German ministry of Health already commented on the issue declaring that when a vaccine is developed it will be for the whole world and that the company is safe.

This action by Trump, trying to prevent the world to access a cure securing it just for the US is beyond anything I thought possible and places Trump among the likes of Adolph Hitler.

I consider this an act of war and attempted genocide and I would completely support isolation and heavy sanctions against the US, while this monster, or another one like him elected by the Americans, is in office.

Nothing new...american govs have always acted this way...financial first,no matter if there will be deaths...you won't find any state with no petrol or a strategic position where americans go to war in the name of a fake democracy....it says all...

Pond5 / Re: Hyperstock
« on: March 07, 2020, 11:26 »

Great, now improve Pond 5, I think we're all behind them.

I found this interesting because, just 2 days ago, I had my first P5 video sale since things died there last summer.

Could it be they really and truly, actually, honestly have gotten back to improving P5???

A friend asked me, so maybe I need to explain. Hyperstock is not "dead" forever, it's just being revised. Typical corporate speak, when a project is a failure and shut down, the press will read, "we are improving other areas at this time." not "We stuffed it, the idea crashed and burned, we're backing up to see what went wrong."  ;D

Concentrating on improving Pond 5 means, they don't want to talk about the elephant in the room, so as a diversion they throw us a bone about how they are working on good things for us. Yeah, and meanwhile, Hyperstock will be back, maybe this time with open terms and what is going on, not a surprise announcement that something new is here.

Best answer I've seen is, allow people to Opt In, not force them to Opt Out. That would go a long way to build confidence and trust. The artist makes the decision to participate or not.

I agree with you...it's not that they listened to artists, likely they are not ready or don't see profit in hyperstock...remains to know why...another sign of a desperate agency that have not clue of what they do...

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Search Webinar
« on: March 04, 2020, 14:46 »
it's interesting to note that irrelevant keywords will push down the clip in the ranking...so for the ones that copy and paste keywords from other similar image/footage it'll be hard times for them..

Are you remembering that your existing images will be sold at 3 credits? Which is good as you'll get more per sale, though you will miss sales from more budget-conscious buyers (which you're mssing ATM anyway). Then any more images you might choose to upload will be sold at one credit and you'll get your percentage of that.
At least, that's how it stands at the moment.  ::)

Yes i am aware of that. But if I take the step I will not upload anymore new images to Istock as for the 15% I prefer that Adobe and Shutterstock come ahead with their 30% instead of those paying 15%. Since I started to upload footage I have distributed more than 3000 clips to Adobe P5 Shutter and Envato. Not a single clip has been uploaded to Istock/Getty. Yes i loosed some sales but I do not care. I just contribute that those best paying sites get stronger and stronger by the day. 30% is the minimum I accept ......everything below that is not acceptable to me. So Once I recover from the hit if I leave it is very probable that I might delete all my portfolio at Istock in the future.

Envato???!!!sub plan?? This is way worse than istock...

Hi Everyone,

I've scheduled a webinar with our Senior Product Manager in charge of search this Thursday, February 27 at 2:30PM PST. It would be great if you can attend. We'll do our best to take as many questions as possible during our 45-60 minute conversation about Adobe Stock search. How you can use the tools to your advantage as a contributor at Adobe Stock. I hope to see you there!

What a damage subscription plans are doing to this industry!!!!

Pond5 / Re: Hyperstock
« on: February 13, 2020, 16:54 »
Thank you I will, although I am not in membership library, so I think i'm covered.
No brand watermark means that our content video or images go to "*ttps://s3.amazonaws.com/p5resellerp/{add-your-photoID}.jpeg".
I think that it is not footage in danger at the moment (if you are not in footage membership pool)
but all images that go straight to subscription model without opt-out for best ones or best sellers etc.
Wouldn't that kill sales of those photos in other agencies?
Well,i'm not in the membership but many of my clips have been put on hyperstock without my permission!!!
A contributor was able to sign in for the 7 days free trial and download a bunch of clip, then when he wrote about it on pond5 forum they took down the site in coming soon mode...

The one problem I see is not if our clips are in or out, it is 95% a photo site they said,
but this generic "copyright" video spider image over content.

a photo site with a million of clips.....
i don't believe a single word they say....
btw you can ask them to remove your clips from hyperstock like i did...

Adobe Stock / Re: No social sharing?
« on: January 31, 2020, 17:34 »
Hopefully Matt can chime in on this...

Was just sharing some of my images from my PicFair portfolio to Twitter ( @thpstockphotos if you're interested ) , and it was a breeze.

Figured I'd go do the same from my Adobe Stock portfolio - except there is no sharing option on the image detail pages, unless I'm missing something?

I thought I'd take a look at Shutterstock, and sure enough they have the option to share from the image detail page. However, it's really lacking - it only adds the URL in by default. No description, no hashtags, not even a proper Twitter card to display a nice, full size image.

Just got me wondering why Adobe Stock doesn't have this kind of feature? Surely it'd be a pretty easy win? If it's built out properly (like the PicFair one, although even that could be improved a little) I'm sure contributors would be sharing their images a lot more (at least, I know I would).
Maybe buyers don't waste their time on twitter or instagram and go straight where they can find and  buy the pics/clips they want...there are so many agencies for this, why wasting time on socials...

Brasilnut...forget about 40% on pond5 sales when you sell the same clip on istock for peanuts...

146
It looks nice but too short for my taste..you'll be able to shot only close up or to put something close to the camera to emphasize the movement..

« on: January 27, 2020, 07:27 »
That's what they said at the town hall..btw istock is selling 4k for 6 credits (48$)..not to mention subs..do  want sell your stuff there and pretend to not have a drop elsewhere?? It will hurt even ss and as in the long run...

148
Shutterstock.com / Re: Is this January especially low for you?
« on: January 27, 2020, 03:57 »
most agencies are about what I would expect. but on pond5 not a single sale so far.

I dont think it is competition from subs site, then ss would be affected too.

whatever they are doing, it is not helping sales.
Pond5 explained it very well at the town hall...problem is stock getty that sell 4k for pennies...obviously suscription plans grabs some sales too...
I think ss and as have been hurted less because they have different kind of buyers..

Talking about footage...20% down this month vs january 2019..
I'm not surprised, with istock undercutting other agencies with ridicolous price and all the subscription plan out there...

rpd 0,30 cent..ridicolous...best month of download...a lot of 0,08 from canvas portal...istock is killing this business but people don't want undersea...better earn penny now...at least don't complain in future if ss or adobe don'tsell.
Same for footage...istock is undercutting other agencies...the result will be a fight on price...be prepared...
