iStockPhoto.com / Did iStock shut down classic picture view?
« on: June 15, 2016, 11:48 »
I can't find button for classic picture view on iStock anymore, is it shutdown forever now? Aldo there was a message that they will shut it down I thought that wouldn't really do it since message was there for a wile and I heard that there is amount of people who liked old view better, and I'm among them.

General Stock Discussion / Re: iStock Review time
« on: June 14, 2016, 10:56 »
I always wondered why they need so much time when they accept almost anything. SS accepts usually in 12 hours, few times it happened in five minutes, and on iS  I have some pictures waiting from 20.05. usually I don't mind but since I have made few pics about euro and brexit i get impatient as times go since they are not gonna be accepted in time. Aldo it's my mistake for late uploading in first time.

General Stock Discussion / Re: 2D flags sales
« on: June 14, 2016, 07:19 »
Yup, you are right, but still 2D flags with no effects still make good sales (I was looking on iS) and I don't get it really xD
I mean on Wikipedia there are .svg files under public domain for any use at all.

3D flags or 2D flags with effects are different story, I'm selling some 3D flags too.

Well on right side is poll like they said. I'm newbie also and I'm just on IS and SS for now and I found SS better. Only thing I could also say is that you can help someone earn more if you register over someones referral link. I learned that too late, if I new earlyer I would do the same.

Well wasn't most of country flag designs free by law? And I would say it's impossible to say where from is picture downloaded since there are all the same (well except some shades) when they are in 2D.

General Stock Discussion / 2D flags sales
« on: June 11, 2016, 10:46 »
Hi there, I'm new so this is maybe stupid question but I have to ask. I found on iStock and Shutterstock a lot of 2D flags (illustrations and pictures) and I can't stop wondering who buys them? I mean they can be found on Wikipedia for free! Even .svg files. I uploaded some of simplier flags that I made in paint (I was that much bored!) and I earned from them almost as much as from 3D render that I make, which is not much actualy but still it doesn't make any sense for me. And if someone have expirience, is it worth uploading them on SS? (as illustrations)

Thanks a lot for answers, it helped :)

Well I wouldn't really steal their customers since I don't have any way to sell pictures except on SS or IS, for now at least :)

But I understand what you said :D

So unless I make my own site for selling photos there is no way to offer this? On IS uploading time is way to long, and on SS it looks like they won't allow me :D

Shutterstock.com / Private messages to contributos on SS?
« on: June 09, 2016, 08:26 »
I have been doing some words pictures on SS and I wonted to add in description that customers can contact me if they wanted some special words to be written there since I could add them in just a day, but then I realized that I don't know is it possible to send private messages to contributors on SS? I saw that there is follow and option to send comment on someones portfolio, but I have never noticed anything about messages or any way to directly contact contributor.

Maybe this is stupid question, I'm new on SS, and microstock generally :)

What's up with Shutterstocks 30MB limit? I started uploading there few days ago, for now just 3D renders from Blender and i noticed that 30MB limit on picture size and some of my best pictures are larger than 30MB. Shouldnt be in their interest to have better images?

And one more question, I was robably making pictures in too high resolution (9600x7000), what's optimal resolution?

You really think that wave pattern flags needs to be 70 megapixels? After reading your post, I was excited to click on your portfolio links because I was expecting to see some high-end rendering of futuristic cityscapes or interior design/architecture as I have seen from some other artists. But seriously, why would you think those images would get "better" just because you blow them up even further?

Well I started to work both, 3D rendering and microstocking, about few months ago so I don't know all yet xD

I'm learning and, apparently, I make some beginners mistakes :D

I uploaded on shutterstock bunch of 3D flag images (all done in same program on the same way) and around half of them got accepted but other half got rejected because of poor rasterizaion, some of them even two times. Now I don't understand why is that, how half can be good and half bad? And how to improve it?

91
Well I tried to uploas some 3D renders and it kept warning me about those 30MB. I honestly don't understand that, they should ask for better pictures, not limit them. Anyway I got them resized and uploaded, but on some pictures reasons I got rejected are ridiculous like I didn't had word 3D render in keywords, or I used in keywords some words  shouldn't. iStock is much better with that matter (maybe only thing for non exclusives).

Hvala puno!

95
Well how I started (2 regular downloads in 2 months) I'll never get exclusive, or maybe I will when I'm forthy :)

I'm waiting to fix scener so I can scan pasport to register on Shuterstock, but I wonder how many of my pictures will be accepted there. I don't have pro camera (don't know if it is greatest investition if this failes). I'm using Nikon Coolpix L330 for now, and I'm also learning Blender for 3D rendering.

What whould be your sugestion, where to register?

Pozdrav,
Nov sam na forumu (od danas) i drago mi je videti da ima Balkan sekcija! A olaksace mi i ovo pitanje, nadam se :). Inace nov sam i u stock fotografiji (mesec-dva).

Inace sam iz Beograda i imam nekoliko finih slika Kalemegdana i Pobednika, razmisljao sam slikati i Knez Mihajlovu, crkvu Svetog Save...

I have noticed that in new look on iStock (I'm using old one) description isn't shown. So does that mean that UBB linking is worthless now? I'm new in this (made an acc almost a year ago but had only 8 pictures there until two months ago) so I never did it. Should I? And should I make public lightboxes? When I tried to search them nothing happened! Does buyers use mostly new design or old design? And when is old design going away?

Sorry for my bad English :(
