« on: November 30, 2021, 17:58 »
On this page there is a YouTube video that actually displays that that the camera delivers a pretty bad result at 240 fps.
https://www.hispeedcams.com/fujifilm-x-e4-slow-motion-240fps-disappoints/

Lower bitrate and lower detail is the cause.

SloMo is always interesting but still too expensive for me. Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-RX10 IV $1600 does 7 seconds of 240fps, better quality. I don't see how I could justify that expense for Microstock? Is there enough of a demand for Slow Motion video? Could someone make back the investment and earn some income?

Sure would be fun though!

I guess there is, since most of lifestyle shots are slowmotion, but mostly just half the speed, 240fps is 8X slower, a bit overkill imho. Also if you can do 60fps or 120fps, Twixtor can deliver further nice results, even for just 30fps, not in all cases thou.

I guess 240fps in X-E series must be a gimmick. Looks upscaled to me. For a price and for what it is I would be happy if it had even 60fps at proper quality.

And be advised it takes a week or more for them to transfer the money. Used to be just days.

Yup, really annoying, I suppose it's the (counter) effect of the lowest payout threshold in the market and payout at any request time.

How annoying, unless you were being sarcastic, that they pay at a comfortable low minimum and faster than all the rest?  ;D

Not sarcastic, it is annoying because there's a lot of delay, in comparison to IS and SS, especially IS always seems to land in my Paypal faster than expected. But the other two things are positive.

Besides LR and PS, when shooting raw on Fuji I tend to use Capture One as it seems to handle those better, less harsh and more natural results, basically no learning curve also.

Wirestock seems rather popular these days for such a thing. Heard a lot of bad things about Blackbox in relations with contributors.

Wonder if they are going to enforce the same thing on buyers, what are they trying to do, erase common sense?

It just happened, got an earnings bump this morning.
EDIT: Got mixed with numbering, it's third lol.

I feel like there are three customers occasionally buying at DT.

Ok, I will stop buying your images  8)

Well, two it is.  8)

Hey Folks,

My equipment is aging but how do I justify buying a new mirrorless dSLR and RF lenses that will set me back about $10,000 plus?  Just a few years ago I would upgraded without a thought but today and the future it seems stupid to spend that kind of money.

I will keep my old camera and lenses for now...

There is no mirrorless dslr, they are the opposite things, one takes pride in having mirror, the other in not having it.
10000$? No seriously 10000$? All Zeiss lenses for stock?
If you upgraded a few years ago for the same amount your are good for the next 20 years or so.

10 this time, up from 5, out 200 or so nominated.

39
Deep down I knew it's gonna be like this, we'll probably have a few more waves of these small approvals till September and in the end it's not going to even come close to the amounts we were told we could reach. It's not a bad deal, but the max estimated amounts were quite bait-ish.

40
Ouch, 74 out of 2500.
Ouch? 4 out of 200  ::)

That's against the terms and conditions.

But that doesn't stop your friend from doing it for you.

I have a sneaky feeling that Mat is laughing at us right now.

Either that, or he's rolling his eyes waaaay back into his skull.

Or, even more likely, he's deep in his 3rd or 4th beer of the evening and couldn't care less what we mumble and grumble about here.

Whichever it is, Mat, please know that we do appreciate you 'round these parts!

I just hope he doesn't drive that armored van after all those beers.  :D

I've given up trying to understand the stats.
I get different amounts on TodayIs20, and on iStock itself. (which I tend to put down to Connect sales)
Also the amounts reported on Deep Meta is often way different from either of the others. Which may be down to the way they work out subs sales (?)
As it happens, the amount iS said I had for May was the exact amount paid into my PayPal a/c, which certainly isn't always the case. Earlier this evening I was looking at the discrepancies over the different reports and trying to reconcile them, but failed totally.  :-[

Smoke and mirrors.

Did you get more money to go with your doubling of downloads?
Oh yes, I'm now showing as exactly twice the downloads and exactly twice the $$, to the cent.
But I already got the paypal payment with the original number. I'm guessing it's some sort of blip. Their coders aren't the most ept on the planet.

I see nothing about it on the forum at the moment. Maybe you were first to notice. I guess most of us don't usually download a statement twice!

Yup, both downloads and money doubled up, that's how I reached cashout and was surprised by Paypal and invoice emails. I still have the old .txt file from the first report, I ran them both through Todayis20 and it is what it is, one is double the other. Guess it's just a common IS, this time it's good news thou :)
Wow! You got the doubled amount?!
I just got the original total.

That's right.
You know what's really funny, all the sales numbers on each image are even numbers and the smallest number of sales is 2. So I guess my best regards to accounting  ;D

Anyone else noticed that they changed May sales report?
On 18th I got one report with less sales, now I downloaded the report again to find it almost doubled.
The payment notification email got me confused so I had a look at the report again.

Ive been submitting pics directly to microstock agencies like SS, Adobe and Alamy for a year now.

I recently signed a contract with easyfotostock (part of agefotostock) in Spain and now discovered they sell my pictures on Alamy using their own pseudonym as photographer to be credited. Meaning my name will not be credited on those sales, although I have the copyright.

I didnt know they use affiliate programmes and I couldnt choose any of the affiliates as well. I also cant delete my pictures on their site.

I want to sell my pics directly not through that agency and I will terminate my contract now.

Is this common? Do agencies sell pictures they dont have the copyright on under their own name with no credits or mentioning the copyright holder?

I always thought I own my copyright and have to be mentioned when selling through stock angencies.... Am I wrong?

I wrote to Alamy about that subject but they responded I have to talk about that with agefotostock, they use the pseudonym given with the photo.

http://www.selling-stock.com/Article/age-launches-easyfotostock

Example:
my picture with my name

And this is how they sell it

I'm not sure why are you bothered by it, you are into microstock to make money, not to stick your name to things, that's what galleries are for.
Buyers are not obliged to display your name when they use photos, thou some do sometimes. Imagine if all the designs that include photos were slapped on with credits.
That's really a common thing, take Wirestock or any random factory on microstock, everyone gets their money in the end and that's the only thing that matters, not making a name, you just hyper-supply goods, you are not building a trademark, and buyers couldn't care less anyway. The copyright remains yours at all times, a simple credit couldn't possibly reinforce that anyway.

iStockPhoto.com / Re: Stats for April are in
« on: May 17, 2021, 15:10 »
Like I said last month, it's either early or late, never on 20th.
Decent month, less than March but nothing unusual, still best earner.

50
Just had 0$ sale on the sidebar, in sales it's 0.10, I get what?

.03 cents.  These are their distributor sales that you have to opt out of, but you can only opt out in April of each year.

Woohoo, guess it's time for a new lens then...
I'm not sure I want to opt out, I had good distributor sales in the past.
