a trend is to stretch the vertical footage in a second layer and blur it, to create a full frame image, so i guess vertical footage is acceptable, but i wouldnt use it and have black borders on the side,.

I think that's a consequence of filming it the wrong way. I can see some application for it give the way how we hold our mobile phones most of the time, but submitting it with borders or blurs on the sides will just doesn't make sense cause buyer will need to crop it additionally. If agencies even accept non-standard resolution at all.

If it has becoming a trend, as such, this mistake on a purpose, then I'm out of this planet...

About +50% than previous months also.

Well you can't possibly know if the image was stolen or not or used beyond license. Also why do you expect to find all the instaces of image online? Some of them might be used online, other printed, some saved for later and some will never be used at all (considering the price).

I don't think they would bother making any excuses unless you are some worldwide famous photographer, they don't even have a proper photo test anymore so one contributor more or less. But they are very cautious about scams and close accounts in a blink of an eye for a lot less than not wanting to give full id.
We all gave them passports/driver's license scans.

So a friend of mine stumbled across my photos in an article in a nationwide newspaper website. There were two my photos with source credited to "Profimedia" - a Czech company that also has local Balkans portals.
And there is my portfolio, credited to my name and Alamy as their supplier.
Thing is, I have a tiny port on Alamy and zero sales.
Would anyone know if this Profimedia is legit and why ain't those sales showing up on Alamy?

Also, prices are really meaty, 360 euros for full resolution for instance.

Sounds to me more like "Google image searches will return more Getty images results than anything else".
Doesn't sound like Google is going to just be a Getty customer.

Ok so I tried right away but I still prefer using Fotolia and there it's greyed out. I realized you might be talking about Adobe, thank you, that worked just right!

No way to change it but to delete the image?

Haven't been there for a while, are we now getting "live" views data? Is that what it's supposed to be this Views section?
What about Interactions?
"The number of times an asset has been added to a board on Getty Images or iStock by a registered user."
What board are they talking about?

My logic is that you are the supplier to agencies and payed by the agency not by the end image buyers. All you need to know is where is the agency located, you are supplying them, they are paying you, you have no contact, contract, receipt or anything of that kind with end buyers.

They're free to ask, and he's free to give it away. He's an amateur, not a stock artist. Not everyone does it to make money.
Just because you didn't film it or didn't get the opportunity to make money like that, doesn't make him an idiot.

That being said, I think more people should value their own content more. Would be better for the creative industry. But blaming individuals for giving away their content isn't going to change the freebies-culture. There will always be people asking for free stuff, deal with it.

Recording in portrait orientation thou...
There is no value in such a saturated environment, if anyone can do it just as good, it has no value, and everyone has a phone with camera.
I would never expect or ask to be paid for 3sec portrait video snap.

It's not about the software really, you could go about it multiple ways, 3D cgi, photos, vectors, brush painting or a combination of any of these. You need to understand what digital image creation and manipulation principles are possible and than you can easily plan how to compile such and image. Software is just a tool then, just use the one that is capable of applying principles and tools that will get the job done. None of this software is exactly cheap so you want to know a lot about what you want to do, how it could be done etc.

For this image the easiest and quickest way would be combining photos, if you have a library of photos that you could use of course.

Sounds like they are open for price negotiation.

I've been to Meteora multiple times and undestand what you are talking about but the thing is are there really buyers and in that quantities that need photos of Meteora, let alone all the individual Monasteries there? I think you are wasting too much time uploading that much photos with no potential return. What I'd do if I was close to it I'd try to capture the vast location in one shot, in different seasons and different times of day to get unique shots, something passing tourists can't do and be done with Meteora.

P.s. I don't have problems with period jokes, my girlfriend enforces them.

Finally someone with a proper reply.
Thank you qunamax, appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately the place is too far away from me. I live in Kos in the winter and Corfu in the summer, so not easy for me to get there. Nevertheless I'll try to get there again.
Thanks again for your feedback.
P.s My wife hates it when i use the period joke. I use it when i want to annoy her.  ;D

It sure isn't easy, cheap or would payoff but you are in better position for Meteora than many when you are on Corfu, thou I guess the biggest drawback is ferry cost especially for a car, but very doable if you can find an excuse for a detour. :)
As for the editor he/she was probably just making excuses for so many photos of the same/similar location.

What do they do with that library? Resell videos? That needs a different license right?

Yes. The different license that they are offering in the email they send.

That seems rather low then, 2500$ for 100 clips, that's 25$ a clip, that's regular license price isn't it?

Well it depends. If you're giving them your top selling clips and they make you an average of $25 a month or something, then yes, it's very low and it would be pointless to do so. But if you're giving them your bottom selling clips and they make you an average of $1 a month or something... then it starts to look a lot more appealing. So how lucrative it is depends on the individuals sales figures and what they give away.

I understand, if they are not selling they are worth next to nothing, so better one regular price that predictably nothing or almost nothing. Thanks for clarification.

I thought fake and stolen credit cards were left back in 1990s.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Fake model release
« on: January 18, 2018, 05:03 »
It's not a copyright issue. If she didnt sign a model release it's fraud.

Well that would be a first step, determining if the release is fraudulent or not, but that's not the main case here, I'd say, the main case is the fact that the photos were uploaded and sold containing a person that didn't want them sold. Even if the release is found to be invalid it could be complicated to rule out who owns the copyright and right to sell those photos, depending on country and laws. I don't think it's easy as selling selling photos created by someone else.
