General Stock Discussion / Re: Fake model release
« on: January 17, 2018, 21:44 »
You can't posibly go around contact every agency and every customer that bought those photos. As much as we here, they can't determine who of you two is telling the truth, that must go through justice system. If you want to get compensated and photos taken down for good from all market places, you must get a lawyer, or at least contact one that specializes in copyright for his opinion on this matter.
There was an thread here with an article about a similar high profile case, I don't remember the details or how it ended, yoy might want to look it up.

By relationship I meant any kind of personal relationship, not a professional one.

Well if he deleted the photos than it's solved as far as that goes I guess. If you would like to get some compensation for back sales I think you will have to get a lawyer and take to court where you would probably need verifiable screenshots of photos being on sale or database proof from SS that they had and sold those files, as well as examination of model release if it comes to that.

I don't think the SS would close an account just because a random person complains about model release of files that are no more there. Some other members may correct me.

Usually you contact a photographer and tell him to take them down and that it wasn't right that he put them there without your permission. No need to to take a revenge trough third party unless he doesn't want to take them down, which he did. You could even settle for some kind of money compensation if that suits you.
Now if this is some kind of ex relationship thing, which it sounds like it is, still better to settle it personally.
Why I don't recommend ruining his reputation with ShutterStock is simply because I know that they won't bother and don't have resources for closely examining if the model release is legit or fake as you propose.

I propose to rename this board from microstockgroup to microstockconspiracygroup
Nothing conspirative about simple programming. If I owned stock agency of that magnitude, I'd do the same, saves quite a few bucks monthly and creates a bank credit effect without interest.

Seems that my turn is back on from today, hopefully will stay on until I get my monthly quota, as usual.

That's been acting up since they introduced "one email review results" thing, which is also lagging big time, photos get accepted and appear in port long before the email confirms their acceptance.

Well if you plan to construct images using photoshop you just have to make sure all elements (photographs, graphics...) are yours eg. you hold the copyright and are of adequate technical quality.

that's something is going on behind the curtain is obvious. they control anything., or do you think that raw pixel.com spend thousand of dollar in shooting without any warranty that they will earn them back, apart the quality of the work they produce. the same for other big seller.

yesterday i had a 73 dollar sale. as always, and i mean ALWAYS, today is super crap, in the sense of 3 download when often at this time i had 20 25 at least. ALWAYS after a 73 dollar it follows 2 3 days of crap. i could have bet my house that today i won't reach 10 download.

this first 10 days i managed to earn more than last january and slightly less than december. i'm surprised but I?M SWURE that from now till 20 i will experience a slow down  , and then better sale in the last 10 days just to reach a good month plus 10% compared to best month of last year.
i bet my pants., i already imagine the total amount at the end of month.

Very interesting, regarding rawpixel port, so what happened to no hard shadows, underexposure and on-camera direct flash all stock guides talked about? Hipster style won the season?

It's like buying a stolen car, you might be innocent but police still takes away the car. SS is not going to waste their resources at worldwide investigation and trial of what actually happened, they just cut their ties with suspicious contributor and carry on. Maybe if it was some really high profile contributor they would calculate if it would payoff to investigate.

As with anything, buy goods and services only from reputable sellers and providers.

Well there you go, you get $100 for 3 years, you pay some e-marketer, you get $700 in one month, I doubt that e-marketer is that good.
Were those $700 like 2800 subs or some fancy licenses?

201 dl in November, port size 3,776 videos and 13,495 images and illustrations!

Find that hard to believe!  with that sort of a port. Something is wrong!  have you asked them to check your account?
What do you mean?

Something must be wrong, I got about 40 dls with a port of only 300 images.

313
Well it might be, maybe somehow they detected something fishy going on with your mac adresses and it raised a red flag for them, so they just disabled the account. I doubt they even elaborated, they just play safe and don't have time to investigate every such event, hence the paragraph in their tos about account disabling with no questions asked. I think...

As far as I know mac addresses aren't communicated unless there is an app installed on the client mac. Do mac users have to download an app from SS to communicate with the site? If it's just through browser, unless it's IE supposedly there isn't anything providing SS with this info.

You are right. I thought it's not usually done but possible to extract mac if wanted.

But it looks like the problem is something to do with the customer and downloading.

That's how I would interpret it as well.  Since SS pays out automatically when you get above $100, the $800 (or at least more than $700 of it) must have been earned in one month.  For a new person to start out and get to that level in a month probably would raise all kinds of red flags.  I would agree that it sounds suspicious. unless they got a couple of very lucky high-value SODs.  We all know how often that happens.

I assumed you can set whichever minimum payout you want, say $1000, the whole purpose being the smaller the number of payouts the smaller the bank/conversion/paypal fees.

316
That's how I undetstood it. And he claims that he doesn't know what it's all about and SS didn't give any details about what actually happened.

To my eye they are a bit sterile, they are well executed, everything by the book, but by today's trends they need to be more bold, color graded, more PP, more weird angles, more negative space etc in order to stand out and cause a wow effect.

318
I think it's a matter of language, I understood that he uploaded vectors for the last 3 years and earned $800 in that time and when he wanted to cash out they disabled his account. The first sentence about acc being disabled is just a quick mention of what is a post about before proceeding to explain in depth. I don't think he had two accounts. But let's wait for the OP and see.

And about the other answers that I got to my simple question? I will not lose my precious time to comment the stupid answers!!

I guess they didn't want to lose their precious time too by giving away their precious research conclusions just so you can steal their sales away.
By the way you can see daily/weekly/monthly... best sellers on your dashboard and draw your own conclusions

It happens to me at Fotolia, if the page doesn't finish loading completely (for some reason it takes a while) and I sign in while it's still loading I'll get the nonsense captcha error.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Net Neutrality
« on: December 17, 2017, 10:41 »

Net Neutrality means that 1GB of data from Joe Blow should be treated the same as 1GB of data from Netflix.

Comcast/Verizon/AT&T do not want that. That is why they have spent $572 million lobying to remove the 'neutrality'.

Do you really think that they've spent $572 million dollars to make the internet more competitive and open?

NetFlix accounts for 36.5% of all traffic in the US at its peak. Combined with YouTube, it makes up 50% of the internet traffic in the United States.

ISPs constantly upgrade to handle these 2 streaming services. I'm talking about billions of dollars in infrastructure upgrades because of 2 companies. That's a lot of money spent, all the while enriching NetFlix and Google. And some of that upgrade cost has already been passed on to the consumer. It's a bit unfair to look from the outside and ask ISPs who spent billions for 2 companies to treat all websites the same way.

If 2 companies uses 50% of the highway traffic in the US, wouldn't it be fair to ask them to pay a higher tax? Net Neutrality may sound noble, because everything is treated equally, but 2 websites using 50% of the traffic compared to the millions and millions of websites out there are not very equal.

It would all sound fine if the ISPs were giving internet access for free, but they ain't. If it weren't for the Google, Netflix and other companies and similar internet services they wouldn't have that much paying customers.
Should they just collect customer's money and never invest in infrastructure upgrades?
If they can't handle it then they can close their doors, I'm sure there are a lot of companies just waiting to take their place. But I'm sure they can handle it just alright, don't tell me they are broke and need customer's help, because they are either going to charge customers for Google and Netflix traffic or they are going to charge those companies which will in return raise their prices or stop being free.
I'm sure they want to adopt the scheme used by hardware companies, charging premium and raising prices with every new generation of tech while keeping the old tech at the same price. If it only reflected in their empoyees paychecks it would be great, be those are going to remain the same and money will go elsewhere, but surely not to infrastructure upgrades as they would like us to think.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia Country
« on: December 17, 2017, 04:37 »
I used to think that my sales would be better if I put some western country, never tried it thou and I really don't know what it means. Maybe acts like an additional invisible keyword when strictly searched.
I read somewhere, on 123RF or DT, don't remember, that it helps buyers find photos relevant to their country, for instance if a buyer is looking for an isolated hairdryer the search will come up with hairdryers with wall plug relevant to buyer's country. Something like that.

My worst months were over the summer, from september it started growing again with november being BME on Fotolia. December started off good too. Also less than 300 photos.
Of course nowhere near SS and only touching the IS on better months.

If I got one sub for every LR optimizing video and article I've seen over the years I could fund Adobe to finally sort it out.  :)
