General Stock Discussion / Re: Net Neutrality
« on: December 14, 2017, 21:57 »
Then I guess there should be some ISPs that will just leave it neutral as it is as a business model to gain more customers who are sick of paying extra. In theory and based on availability in areas and of course unless services like Netflix, you mention, start to charge ISPs for letting them stream their service or vice versa.
Anyway they are always coming up with a brilliant new solutions how to squeeze every last penny out of customers which in turn probably never corresponds to raises to their employees but yet another yacht for the CEO.

Is it the actual law that will forbid internet providers to supply internet as they did up to now or they are changing the law/regulation to let them charge extra if they please?

That is true and I agree except that it doesn't matter where you are in the world because Chinese goods will be shipped there cheaply.
But I'm not bashing on designers or either of their skills, I'm doing towards the Zazzle and places alike that just don't have or can't allow designers to have competitive prices.
If I was a buyer I wouldn't care or wouldn't care to investigate if the coffee cups are coming from the designer or a ripoff printed on the identical goods but cheaper.

Still, I just can't force myself to believe in it, even if you hit a jackpot with popular unique design that becomes a trend, Chinese are going to steal the design, print it, sell it multiple times cheaper and make money instead of you.

So, no designers can make money outside China?

Got it. Thanks for the info.

I didn't write that. What I wrote is designers are highly unlikely to make money by sticking their designs on overpriced generic Chinese leggings and coffee cups because the design will be copied, printed on those same leggings and coffee cups and sold a lot cheaper through well established market places like Aliexpress.

Product prices at Zazzle are just ridicules, maybe if some companies find something interesting for their promo material, but for individual purchases I don't see anyone buying anything, you can get those things for a fraction of price at local print shops.

Seems like Dreamstime is really working out for you

Well, that depends entirely on when the last withdrawal was...
Hhhh yes this is not really as you think. I didn't withdraw for a longtime however what I made on videohive is like 3 months only :)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Google Chrome is slow.
« on: November 30, 2017, 04:36 »
What other sites are good to use to open your e-mail accounts. I use Google Chrome and lately it has been very slow.  What about (I heard of) Internet Explorer?  Please list others or the one you use that give you good results.  Thanks--Oscar Williams

and if your beef is with Chrome, I've heard that the latest release of Firefox is way faster.

I just updated to Firefox 57. It is faster and does not bog the computer down nearly as much as the earlier versions. But be aware that there are significant changes to the UI and this version breaks many, if not most, of the add-ons that people have installed. Nearly all of mine were...poof...gone and there don't appear to be many alternatives so far. It was disconcerting.

Much gnashing of teeth about this in the forums.
Had the same problem but as I d9n't really have that many add-ons, I managed to replace them all with new compatible ones.
Firefox has a strong following, I'd say add-ons will be updated in no time.

Was wondering if any other are having the same issue.  When I pull an image into Photoshop (any version including a standalone - CC & CS6) then run NIK Color EFeX Pro 4 (any filter) it starts to do its thing then inadvertently shuts down Photoshop.  I tried reloading Nik and that didn't work either.

It worked with Define, but not Color Efex.  Anyone else having the same issue?

I have the same issue, randomly it crashes Photoshop during the final processing. Found some proposed fix, seemed to work for some time but the problem came back, some days it works, some days it crashes constantly.

Firefox was updated recently, completely redesigned and I can tell you that it's blazing fast now, give it a try.

Photo Critique / Re: 77 sales on SS from July

Now I can't tell you how to get more sales and stuff but I can see that you are post-processing your images to a kind of HDR-ish look, you might want to reconsider that because the HDR-ish look went out of style long ago and is now mostly considered unfavorable. Along with it, the saturation in your photos is really on the low side, you need to make them pop out and don't forget to use sRGB.

You'll still need to shoot the rest of the shot, so you might as well get that model release signed, instead of getting "body" property release. Some people actually like being models.
If you want to go full cgi it's possible long ago. Not sure how ability to generate new face is significant here. I can do that with a liquify in  photoshop in a matter of seconds.

Yes, and I can do everything that Instagram does with Photoshop. But Instagram is much quicker when I just want a snapshot.

That's what software can do now. Think about what it will be like in five or ten years. What will be the effect on stock photography?
Yes, eventually it will be posible to create entire scenes including characters, proceduraly, in realtime, but we are still not there, nextgen PC games are to watch as a giveaway how close we are to that. But it's still not there.
For simpler stuff, like isolated objects for instance, an experienced cgi artist might be as fast as a photographer. Le5 alone that cgi artist can create whatever he imagines given the time and resources available.

Anyway, what I was saying in this instance is that face generation alone isn't much of a help, you can't just photograph a scene and change faces, you might not neet model relese but probably will need something like premission to change one's face and a screenshot of software as a proof that the face was indeed generated. Unless they change laws about this, which is still posible, laws are pushed by corporations anyway.

Got one too and after examining the cities listed I can just say that they are making fun of us and assuming we are stupid because they did the same thing that porn sites use to generate those fake popup chats claiming there's a really hot girl in badly located ISP territory that wants me to come over...
I guarantee that no one ever searched for the towns and cities they listed for me in that email.

Hi Everyone,
Quick update!
Search results are acting weird at the moment due to the temporary site issues we are experiencing.
Our Team is working on a resolution now.
Thanks for your patience.

One of my friend told that there is a server outage in europe affecting 1000s of popular websites. I hope this issue and the outage issue are not linked.
Could be, my company's website and mail server went down yesterday for a brief time.

Tiny port, very good on SS, just a bit shy of excellent September. Even FT picked up a bit, since I have very sporadic sales there.

Pond5 / Re: 40 days with no sales
« on: October 27, 2017, 04:32 »
I don't really know, my guess is perhaps each month, they allow buyers to see my clips only for a short moment, and then the opportunity goes to someone else. Because sometimes, the sales concentrate on a short period of the month.

I'm seeing this pattern with photos, but don't want to fall into paranoia. Every month there are these boom days of sales, can happen at any period during the month, and when I reach my usual monthly amount the sales go down just as they went up, like someone is controlling the valve. I'm not in the complaining mood just yet thou, because it might help my sales as much as it seems to hurt them, don't know.

I think some people too literally took the - more photos - more potential sales.
Yes, Shutterstock

Since it's the hosting space they are paying, makes me wonder, maybe we are missing something here?

I'm not sure how any of the internet ads work at all, anyone remotely long enough on internet has developed an immune system to them and just automatically ignores them.
