Not that I've ever done anything similar, but I can still photoshop horns on people's heads right?

Putting one on a horse and claiming its a unicorn might be considered questionable

Well, only if submitted as editorial.  :)

Excellent software, been using it for a year, fast bug fixes, fast help response. Sadly I must part, too much for a hobby but I'll gladly return if I up the game.

General - Stock Video / Re: What does timelapse do to shutters
« on: September 09, 2017, 06:26 »
Just wondering if timelapse photographers have wrecked their shutters with so many exposures. And how many exposures before the shutter dies on various cameras - or are they far more resilient than expected?

No one can tell when will the shutter fail, not even factory specified numbers. It's sheer luck. Most modern cameras are rated at 150k, some of them fail in 3 digits, some go one even after one million.
There was a website where users reported shutter fails of different models and there was a graph, but not much conclusion could be pulled out of it, fails where all over the count scale, with only noticable peaks a few thousand clicks before the rated number and some long after the rated number. There was a significant number of fails under 10k or so. As I said, all over the place. I don't think that website is updated anymore.

Timelapse will up your numbers in no time, this doesn't mean the shutter will fail, who could tell if the shutter fails from wear, time it takes materials and grease to harden, bumping the camera around or the combination of all of this.
What it will certainly do is lower your camera's resale value, especially if it's not a pro level camera, where shutter replacement cost is just a fraction of body cost.

Even with artist release?

I'm suspecting those should be higher but are some kind of discount for buyers...

Anyone know what are these 0.45 and 0.49 sales I've been seeing lately?

Give Xpiks a try, very easy to use and free.

Yes, it's just that there's a delay of about a month before they start selling.

General Stock Discussion / Re: JULY SALES
« on: August 01, 2017, 05:38 »
IS a bit less than average months.
SS BME almost double my average months, I did increase my portfolio but new files sell rarely.
FT completely dead since June, flat line, it was in line with IS before June, very strange.

Generally I think it's just a seasoned gimmick, just like 3D, when the wow effect wears off it won't have any other meaningful quality to add to standard media. It might be trendy for a while but I think it will die off eventually and be used just for special stuff that has the real benefits from it.

Newbie Discussion / Re: My first two month stats
« on: July 19, 2017, 08:16 »
Seems rather low for SS and IS, I had about three times that last year in the first two months with between 30 and 50 images then.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe?? deadly quiet!
« on: July 14, 2017, 09:56 »
Had some boom in jan/feb but it's very dead since then, just occasional low end sale, despite doubling my portfolio since then. Not even remotely close to regular SS and IS sales.

I think you should add more realism and less like vector drawing. That would include more detailed textures, better shaders, more interesting lighting and pay attention to color theory.
For instance, why not give that box a more realistic shader and texture and rotate it so it can clearly be seen as 3D, to make it a step further away from vector drawing.

365
Heard that one too, looking out for it, but I've got a really small sample to pull any meaningful observation.
We strayed away from topic pretty much, was just pointing out how Xpiks makes life easier and it's free.

366
I'd say 30, but I try to max it where possible.

367
I partly agree. Yes majority of photos sell by the most basic keywords, after all, buyers are from all over the world and they as well might not know the English that well.

But there are specific words for specific shots that a buyer might be looking for and I just didn't come across them in an everyday life and there are some that just don't click to me at that moment.
One example would be one of my better selling receptionist shots where I just didn't ever hear about the term "concierge"(I know, it's not English but serves the point), yet that is the 80% of keyword searches for that file.

After all it's faster to click-out the unwanted ones than type in all from scratch even with autofill.

368
Xpiks for both keywording and uploading. If I was to use my brain alone, as non native English speaker, I'd miss out lots of words I didn't know and I'd never learn them.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Anyone Sell on Blend Images?
« on: June 23, 2017, 13:33 »
Blend is a distributor and they do work with adobe-ft. There are better Rm agencies. I wouldn't bother.
Derek, is imagesource a better place to submit an application?

It depends! but with your material I have seen a little ( brilliant) I would rather go for agencies like Trevellian and Arcangel. They love the stuff that you produce. Like tailormade for it.

But does that translate to buyers loving it, I mean do these agencies have a strong buyers base that generate sales for that niche?

Yes here too, if they keep coming early we might eventually get back to realtime stats. :D

I find it rather good, in line with SS. Yes there are some cents sales but there are more than $1 too so it levels out to be similar to SS which orbits around $0.25 mostly. Also I got a couple of $40 sales in last 6 months or so and the best I had on SS is $5, so there is that too. Uploading is rather fast and simple with deepmeta3.
But take it with grain of salt as I'm pretty new here with tiny portfolio.

And even if showed here, don't see the point, it's just something (if it was true) that someone really needed for something in that moment, could be the most random photo that will never sell again.

Yup, same here.

It doesn't read metadata, end of story for me and I actually just went and registered.
