Stocksy / Re: Is it so simple to get in?
« on: August 28, 2020, 12:39 »
I got rejected by them too, but I have a hard time figuring out whether it was the topic of photos or the quality they did not like or something else entirely?

I don't shoot people, so I had no modern-style hipster photos to offer, but before I sent my sample images, I browsed their gallery and looked up what they had to offer with keywords of things I do shoot. My dogs are my bestsellers on most agencies, so I selected lots of these. Then  I picked photos where I thought I had better or at least as good photos of the similar subject to offer than what I saw on Stocksy.
Maybe I have a hard time judging my own photos objectively and maybe I am wrong, but I thought my photos were not worse than many of the ones they had on Stocksy. (Of some I didn't even think they were very good, many seemed extremely dark, but maybe that's part of the deliberate editing for Stocksy?)

So, anyone has any tips what I did wrong or should try next time I apply? I don't feel like trying to apply again if I have no clue what to improve on.

Nice pics, my brother had a dog like the one with cone hat, i think that breed of dog is miniature pinscher.
Do you have any idea how many photos sell on Stocksy average contributor ? They pay well ?

I tried once and was rejected. Will not try again and I don't feel the urge to be somewhere where I'm not welcome. They will simply not have my work and that's fine.
i've been rejected by Offset TWICE, I don't have that attitude. I also don't have enough content to offer them as i have 2 other premium sites to contribute to, so it's a moot point right now,  but I would still be happy to be able to submit there.
Nice gallery!

Adobe Stock / Re: No sales in August

I've noticed that new files don't sell like they used to until few months ago. It looks like Adobe changed search algorithm also. Too bad because the one before this change was really fair  for new files to get deserved chance to prove themselves. Staying for month in this privileged position, that's what they said on their webinars. I really hope this is not permanent and that they will get back to the previous search algorithm. If they do follow SS path of ignoring new files, I'm really going to lose my last reserves of energy for producing new content. So discouraging.

I see why I only sell old images.

Since the SS earnings structure change, there is a drop in my AS sales

Used to have 1 to 4 sales a week

But in August not a single sale!

Is it the vacation period, Corona or is there to much compatition (since the SS structure change)?

How are your August sales on AS?
I have some sales around 30 Euros in AS.

Let's say they reverse their policy.

Would you ever be able to trust Shutterstock again?

Never do business with a Robber Baron.  (unscrupulous methods to get rich)
There is also one that says, "never take a pirate's word." And those of Shitterstock are pirates and very thieves, without scruples.

https://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.shutterstock.com   <--- their trustpilot is going from strength to strength.  Should pass 1000 reviews this week.

Who in their right mind would (i) spend a fortune each month on a package or (ii) buy shares with a reputation from both buyers and contributors as equally dismal as they have?

It's interesting to review those comments from buyers before the flood of negatives from contributors (around page 30). Loads of people thinking they were signing up for one month trial discovered that they signed up for a year and that it cost them to cancel. It seems to happen so frequently that their dubious practices must be by design rather than co-incidence/stupidity of buyers.
What would you expect for a company like SHITTERSTOCK? A THIEVES RAT NEST! >:( >:( >:( >:(

In Benjamin Franklin times, a penny worth more than today value of penny. I think! ;)

Well some hungry people continue uploading to shitterstock, they say "better 10 cents than nothing". And about buyers, if they need some image there, they won't care about shutterstock is a thief crap. I think sometimes, money doesn't have friends. If some people do ugly crimes for money, what we could expect for this kind of company like shitterstock.

He took the money from our pockets and placed it directly into his bank account. This is capitalism at its finest.
That's not capitalism, that company is a pirate ship, and i say that because they dissabled my account and get the money i have there, arguing nonsense. ... Shitterstock  is a big thief!
unfortunately this is PRECISELY the definition of laissez-faire capitalism - rampant in the robber barons of the gilded age and back for sequel - for decades, starting w Reagan, we've seen the triumph of corporations over people- including SCOTU  recent rulings in Hobby Lobby & Citizens United

and while SS has been terrible, in perspective it's not even a minnow among the whales where corporate socialism is  the ideology - you keep your profits  but the govt covers your losses
Well, i live in a socialist country Venezuela, and we have big thief here. Have ever heard about this "All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others", Animal Farm, i love Orwell written works,  this so true. Capitalism is inhuman, but communism too.

This is what I just posted there, not sure if this is the one you are referring to:

"Do you guys not even read the TOS before you signed up? It is 100% clear what you have given them permission to do and for how long after you disable or close, that they can do it. That you'd rather complain than take 3 seconds to look it up baffles me. "

Yes, argumentative perhaps, but it does suprise me that people don't take a moment to see what the TOS says. It is abundently clear how many days they can sell disabled content. Section 5, subsection b. And they gave me a thumbs down for it too. :) awww...

Shitterthiefstock really suck! >:( >:( >:(

It's all even uglier than I realized. Oringer sold stock on August 3 and 4th - a total of 85,000 shares for a total of $4,645,801.97

The investor page shows the Aug 5 filing of SEC form 4

https://investor.shutterstock.com/static-files/5b826d21-eecb-4bd3-9852-cd28fa01bb3f

To get an idea of how much Jon Oringer pocketed as a result of their maneuver to bump up the stock price, compare the 85k shares sold with what they would have fetched at the July 8th price (his prior stock sale) - he made just over $1.5 million more ($1,508,451.97).

All of the above is before his plan filed today to get rid of another 3.5 - 4 million shares (it'll depend on the price as to what $200 million maps to)

What a disgusting man thing he is
That's no a man at all, is a shitthief!

If this miserable excuse for a company didn't deserve the name SHITTERSTOCK before, it certainly does now.

I am sooo happy to be outta there.
Shitterstock is a good name for that company, it suit very well.
