Indeed, if you only do stock photography as incomes in some countries, like USA, and you sales are no so good, you probably live of charity.

I asked them to treat me like a contributor from Venezuela and deactivate my account on the 28th, so far I still have access to it.
Man, that was a gutsy thing to do. Did you get any personal response to that request?
Not so gutsy, I only make enough to feed a cat, but the cats were fighting to see which one got fed.

Which just goes to prove that they cannot read.
Adobe gave me the same response, when i ask, why they close my account, because i'm not a supporter or member of Nicolas Maduro government.
Well we are not out the woods yet, we still have Maduro and Trump and a global Adobe who go by the laws of Trumpton, the Canadian setup must just be there to avoid paying taxes there.

I love Shutterstock. Is there anybody else who appreciate the service of SS? after reading all these hateful comments, I wonder.
SS is part of my daily bread, for me and my family.
I only love God,my family and neighbor. Because a company give you money for sell your content. It's a relationship win to win. Only business, there is no love. But it's your way of thinking, is respected. This is just my opinion.

Unfortunately, lots of things are sad in this world today. I'm 73 years old (for context born in the USA the year after WWII ended), and for many reasons I consider this the most depressing time period I've lived through.
I'm especially sorry that problems you did nothing to cause and can do nothing to fix have hit you so directly. You have my sincerest sympathy.
Thank you, very much! and yes, the world today it's very difficult to live, i don't know how it's in countries called first world, but in third world countries with hyperinflation like Venezuela it's like hell. Several countries in South America now have very strong social conflicts, Chile, Ecuador, Bolivia, Argentina, Venezuela and others. Communism, socialism, capitalism and neoliberalism, I think they are models that no longer work.

It's sad this situation, "due to the recent Presidential Executive Order in the United States (Executive Order 13884) regarding activities with the government of Venezuela, Adobe is no longer permitted to provide you with access to software and services, or to make your Works available to customers."

Have you received this notice from SS or IS or any other US company?
Only from Adobe. Some people say, it is an over compliance of Executive Order 13884 from Adobe.
I'd say that you are correct. Someone in legal went overboard, otherwise how come, none of the others are making that restriction.
Anyway I hope they just disable, until they figure it out, and restore everything soon. Bad enough to lose earnings, but having everything removed would be really bad.

@alexandersr, don't waste your time on politics. You do not have anything to prove or explain to no-one. Instead, you can set some rules e.g. no women, old people or children just to have peace of mind and heart and start documenting whatever happens around you. Valuable and unique pieces of work that you can offer for licensing when this story come to an end. If not previously as live feed from your country. Adobe might cut strings but e.g. news agencies need material to show the news. Best wishes and stay safe.

I cannot understand it, if the media says that the sanctions are against the government of Nicolas Maduro and they repeat it again and over again. This have been also said by Senator Marco Rubio and the same president of the United States of America Donald Trump. So why Adobe says that ordinary citizens and businesses are also sanctioned, I don't understand.
While the Right (mostly far-right) repeats the word "socialism" over and over again. Those same people don't realize(or maybe they do) they are contributing to the ongoing threat of increasing fascism in the US. These are the same type of companies and people that supported Hitler. Either from fear, ignorance, or willful intent.
I am neither left nor right, I am an ordinary person trying to survive in a socialist country that is going through a strong economic crisis with the greatest hyperinflation in the world. All this result may be due to the mismanagement of the economy by the government of Nicolas Maduro and former President Hugo Chavez. And in recent times to external factors, which have worsened the economic situation.

I saw this on a web page : Adobe is causing an international stir today after the software giant announced that it would be deactivating all accounts in Venezuela due to a US Executive Order issued back in August. The news was quietly published in a support article uncovered by Bleeping Computer, but journalists and Venezuelan creatives alike are baffled by Adobes justification. On their support page, Adobe cites US Executive Order 13885 as the reason for this move; however, as several publications have already pointed out, there doesnt seem to be anything in the text of that document that prevents Adobe from doing business with individuals in Venezuela. The Executive Orderwhich you can read in full belowhas to do with Blocking Property of the Government of Venezuela and specifically defines Government of Venezuela in such a way that your average photographer or graphic artist should not be included in the imposed sanctions. Yet, Adobes support page claims that the practical effect of [Executive Order 13885] is to prohibit almost all transactions and services between U.S. companies, entities, and individuals in Venezuela. Worse yet, Adobe says the Executive Order prevents them from offering refunds to users who have purchased the software, writing: We are unable to issue refunds. I hope you get a reply from Adobe accepting that your contract is with Canada therefore there is no reason for you to be cut off from their software and stock sales.
Failing that, I hope your sales pick up at your other outlets.

Sorry this happened to you @alexandersr and any other photographers/artists in your country. Did any other US based agencies send you a letter as well? Like Shutterstock?
This type of bullying from the US president will only hurt the US citizens and US companies in the long run. Many countries and companies will look elsewhere for a more stable business partner and the US will lose it's financial dominance in the world because of actions like these.
I think 80% of Adobe's and shutterstock's content comes for Russia.(Anyone please let me know if this percent is wrong) I wonder if any future sanctions on Russia and it's citizens would cut the size of those agencies catalogs.

I hope you find a way. I don't like Maduro but I don't find useful the US and European embargos that affect people like you. Knowing that the corrupt are a few.

Sanctions do not work by applying them to ordinary people. Look at Cuba, they are still communists and they have the Castros already 60 years in power. I don't know if all foreign companies are going to apply the same thing Adobe and Oracle did. Put everyone in the same bag.
Sometimes I think that ordinary people for governments are nothing more than disposable pieces, which they use to achieve their goals and then discard them.
From what I have read ordinary people are not the target of these sanctions, besides which your contract is with Adobe Canada, which has narrower targets and you are not supposed to be collateral damage. I would push Adobe Canada to give you a specific valid reason why they have disabled your account as the sanctions do not apply in your case.
