General Stock Discussion / Re: PicturEngine is ready!
« on: September 12, 2016, 12:34 »
Hi Justin,

Nice initiative, but 30$ a month is a VERY high rate even if you offer 100% commission.

My main concern is that you business plan does not really motivate you to find buyers for our photos (you get 0%) - it actually mainly motivates you to find new photographers, who are willing to invest the 30$ a month. All right, the first six months are free, but still... How about a payment model where you keep the first 30$ of the photographer's sale? That should also motivate you to do something about getting good sales for your contributors.
I will never pay this high amount to sell my images. No way. Make it $1 for 500 images. If no sales (payout) i want have back my money and the option to cancel the account at any time! Maybe i will jump.

it`s just a feeling or?  ;)
From this month sales are going better. Holidays are over. Customers come back from summer holiday. Every year the same. Not related to Adobe i think.

It is only a API of deposit

Hmmm. I had more than three times as many sales as usual today on Fotolia, and 2/3 were sub sales all made at exactly the same time for two keywords. Someone's stocking up.

Wait, you can find out the keywords people search for on Fotolia? Where is that?
Waiting for an answer too  :)

Any sales at drawshop? Saw them at poll but looks a little bit too old fashioned for me.
Are there any more? Easy upload would be very important. Maybe SuperImageMarket?

@Sean, We are not removing the option to select a size, just changing the pricing structure.  We will continue providing small, medium, and large sizes for each image.

That wasn't the point.  Nobody really cares about choosing a size when they're all the same price - we all have mega-gazillion-gigabit connections.  When I only need the flexibility that comes with a 800x800 pixel images, I'd be annoyed if I have to pay the same price as the guy who needs the 5500x3800 pixel image.   I shopped GL for my blog images because I could get the smallest size at a price that afforded me limited flexibility.

The problem with many sizes will also increase the database extremely which is not cost-effective.

Im ready to upload. Any changes planned for an easy upload?

They contacted video artists early on and offered to buy certain files for their library.  I don't know if they are still using that method, or are making some of their own now?
Thank you. Now i get it. First i thought all 2.000.000 files are for "free". Just 115.000. Information in small font size :)

« on: August 12, 2016, 00:33 »
payment until 15th. It is not even 12th.. ?

Video blocks has two portions one a subscription side where they own the rights to the videos and the other where artists can upload their videos and get paid nearly 100% (minus paypal fee) of the 49.00.  When you look at their site both the subscription and the artists videos are shown with an icon depicting which one is which.

I don't know about graphicstock
Ah ok, thank you. So videblocks has 115.000 video files. How they get/ won them? Crazy. But good to hear they do not give others files for "free".

....
- The new rank sorting seem to be determined by how long the image has been on SS and/or how many downloads it has over its lifetime. This new change will definitely benefit veterans and older images. The newer images with less downloads are pushed down the rankings.
......

Not true. I see many of my files uploaded this or last month on page 1 or 2 of the most popular search results. No problem here.

Please change the uploading progress. Have thousands of files. After uploading i have to click each file and need another click to submit. Please change it and i will go on. Good luck.

Yes the same. And sorting by date is a little bit wrong too.

119
How much do you earn-  percentage or $ for a download at Videblocks / graphicstock?
I do not understand how that is working? Unlimited downloads. What the ... happy day..

I am curious to know everyones thoughts as to who is the largest purchaser of stock photos? Media Companies,  Web Designers or Individual Graphic Designers. When I look at Media Company Websites I can find Stock Images but when I look at some Individual Web Designer Sites and Graphic Artists I don't see very many if any as their work is more specialized to local small businesses who want work that reflects their own products or business. So who then is driving stock photography in terms of photo consumption or sales?

Thanks!

Web designers and graphic designers rarely buy stock. They don't have much of a budget, unless given one by their client. Media companies, technology companies, business organizations, food companies, healthcare companies and full-time bloggers are some of the biggest consumers of stock photography. I read a number of tech news outlets and I see a lot of SS images being used. Just yesterday, I saw a Rawpixel photo in a news story related to employment. I saw at least 30 technology images (photos and vectors) from SS on a website I frequent.
lol

Love your alien head image. Very cool.  :D

123

It's likely that he bought a 1 month subscription and downloaded as much as possible everyday. If he downloaded 25 images everyday, that's 750 images a month.

I'm just waiting right now. It may take some time to resolve it.

At least, now you know, where your sales are coming from....

A download is a download, right? And every download help the images move up in the search results.
minsc - you kidding aren`t you?

Question: I need to click them one by one and need a second click "submit"?
That`s a crazy waste of time.

How do you want to attract photographers and artists?
What's the purpose of the agency?
What is unique about this agency compared to others?
Why would buyers use this agency over the dozens of other well established agencies and other general options?
What is the profile of the target buyer?
How will you attract buyers?
