The alternative is to allow users to submit very few images. That will make them self-selective and will remove any similarity burden from our side. If this is preferred, we can definitely do it.

go for it. as IS does. would be much much smarter IMHO.

i don't believe acceptance rate affects sales. no way. i never said my sales are directly affected by latest moths acceptance ratio. if some of you got it this way - YOU'RE WRONG. forget it.

what i believe is constant massive rejecting of hi-quality images with high commercial value leads to much lower variety of choice for customers than competing agencies have. which leads to sales dropdown as customers will switch to other providing sources. that's my point.

i have my monthly acceptance ratio at DT dropped from nearly 100% to about 20% last few months. all for "too similar".

i've tried to negotiate the issue with DT CEO some time ago too and got sort of "we love all our contributors and care a lot, but please back off, boy" communication. i really had an idea Yuri still gets some more special care but as i see he doesn't either.

i believe it's a wrong way to go for DT and falldown we see now is a result of very big mistake in acceptance policy. the gap between good fresh content quantity available at DT and available from others will grow. i actually used to send buyers to DT saying "most of my works are available at DT. go and buy there whichever you need". now the situation is rather "some of my recent works are available at DT". or maybe even "very few of them", so i've started to send customers elsewhere.

i believe i will probably stop submitting my newer works there very soon. no point in submitting when it all gets rejected. i don't think any argue will help, so i just have to silently wait a bit until it will be worth submitting again.

i hope DT will understand this policy is wrong and make some changes. then we will see DT coming up. i really enjoyed working with DT for latest years and really want things to normalize.

(anonymuse.org gives me access to istock, but i'm not willing to log in under such service with my password)

please let me know if possible, what's the problem with my ISP and will the issue be fixed anytime soon.

thanks a lot in advance,

lev dolgachov

thank you.

i'll try it via other ISP some day soon.

109
please keep in mind the fact i'm submitting to all major sites and have no problems.

i believe it's something java-oriented now.

i have similar problem with yaymicro on my main computer - i can not post to forums or add new releases there from my main computer. and they are using some axps stuff too.

still i'm able to do this from 2 other ones that are "not compatible" with snapvillage registration.

still all other aspx stuff works perfect from here.

can anybody try a REGISTRATION on snapvillage now? someone not registered so far?

110
just tried another computer. no luck.

111
Same here.

Fill in the fields, press "create account" button, wait for 2 minutes, then get "connection was reset" screen.

tried 2 different browsers and 2 different computers.

Yes I keyword for Fotolia. My vital kwds are in the first 7 and the essentials in the first 15. Anything beyond are synonyms and circumstantial. By ranking kwds in order of importance, I'm always safe, on Fotolia with 7 and on SS with 50.

i keyword for fotolia too, they are my nr. 2 seller and getting closer and closer to nr. 1. they sell me for 5 times more in EVERY DAY than Canstock does in a month now. so it's worth bothering. but i will not bother to select 15 words specially for stock that doesn't sell. reminds me Galastock policy. anybody remember Galastock? i wonder if ANY top performer changes keywords specially for canstock?

believe me or not, i"ve got batch rejected on Canstock.

i most likely gonna leave Canstock if it will not be sorted out. i mean, they sell me for $50 a month and i must deal with hi-quality pictures rejected?

and 15 keywords is a total joke.
anybody here edit keywords specially for them? leaving only 15? ;]

update. i checked my statistics. actually they sell me for less than $20 a month this year. and March is nearly zero with 3 sales and 2-3 bucks so far.

114
i know people sell RM on Alamy the same stuff they sell RF on micro. it's a total mess.

115
i've got another CD cover.

"Thong Gone Wrong" by Hawaiian band "Barefoot man"

it's the 6th musical CD cover with my artwork i'm awared of. feels good as always ;]

116
sure. any linking is ABSOLUTHELY welcomed.

117
madelaide, any news on your RM research?

118
please drop a line to this thread with results of your research, ok?

Hassy won't pay you back on microstock, my friend, and you know it.

Actually i believe best camera for micro is 5D. i've recently ordered myself 1DsMk3 and i know it won't really pay back on micro comparing with forthcoming 5DKm2. the only reason for me spending $10K now was intention to have my pictures as big resolution as i can allow myself to, not the idea i will sell them for much more when i'll switch from 5D to 1Ds. so it was more artistic than business decision for me.

upscaling a bit sales volumes and going to your case, 1DsMk3 is the best camera for you as a BUSINESS TOOL FOR MICRO and you know it.

still as much as i remember the day we had a dinner in Oslo you're the one who can be considered technocrate the best possible way. so i believe you really enjoy Hassy and your artistic side is more than satisfied with this great tool. i believe you made good artistic decision. just don't expect it to pay back as business decision on micros. it won't.

friend of mine owns online IT shop. and he enjoys to make a delivery by himself. rich businessman spends his time delivering $20 worthy item he sold online and made a penny of. the car he uses for that is his own brand new latest BMW M5, he paid over 100.000 Euro for. he knows spending his time and using his car for delivery is not about business, still he enjoys it. he's just "Taxi" movie type of guy. i don't want to say it's exactly the same situation you have on micro with Hassy, but it's not that far. i will never consider you or my friend making it wrong as long as i understand how much fun you have. still don't expect it will pay back as business. if we're talking about micro or cheap online shop delivery. ;]

actually i'm doing the same shooting 10000 pictures every month and having only 2000 pictures in my portfolio. i should stop shooting and finally postprocess all great stuff i have on 3Tb of my backup storage now. i believe i have at least 20000 of very good images i should postprocess and sell. still i continue shooting, spending time, buying cameras, accessories, papers and stuff. it's pointless but i just can't resist. ;]

so well, we are ARTISTS after all. we can shoot when we don't have to or use Hassyes on micro. that's what we do. even knowing it won't pay back there on micros. we a artists, as i said so we don't have to be business and logic ONLY.

downsizing images for SS is a smart idea, i will maybe use it too.

thanks for this thread, Yuri. it's been a long since we communicated last time so i'm really enjoying talking with you.

FlemishDreams, ParisEye, Amosnet - thank you.

it's terrific to hear such a things.

One thing got me curious, about RM licensing.
Quote
Sometimes photographers are allowed to sell a rights-managed picture through several image banks, but they are required to notify them of purchases of the picture through other stock photo companies, so that all of them have complete information about all deals involving the picture.

Is it really so?  I don't remember ever reading that, but quite frankly I don't have much patience to read every single sentence...  I have sold RM images and the only thing I did was to remove them from sites were I had them as RF as well.

Regards,
Adelaide

sure. if you sell picture RM, you can not sell it RF. still you can sell it RM on several agencies IF THEY ALLOW IT and share info. i'm affraid i'll need to make a little research to give you exact agancies names. still it's not a matter of things i wrote my guide about - the guide is about RF only and little part about RM is just to give a very basic knowledge about RM existance at all ;]

122
thanks, Ann.

i really hope your new SS try will be successful.

123
thanks for terrific words about my work.

microstock has a lot of good performers. i'm always enjoying to look at theit work. open "top50" somewhere on big stocksite and browse portfolios. you'll be amazed in a good way.

124
thanks for your terrific words about my work.

your commentary about the article is confusing though. to avoid confusing people we must PLEASE admit every good microstock article and every good microstock forum are means of obtaining referrals. it's absoluthely natural and more of "and" than of "but", my friend. like, say "interesting pictures in stock portfolio, AND clearly a means of obtaining sales".
