Welcome to the October 2021 detailed monthly report during these increasingly normal times (on the surface at least).

In addition to the earnings report, check out a summary of a super useful/interesting chat with Nash Mascaro, Sales Director at Arcangel who served me a large portion of humble pie and valuable tips on improving my approvals/sales over at Arcangel.

Interested to know your thoughts if you believe that there's any reason to be optimistic in regards to the future of the microstock photography industry as a viable business opportunity.

https://brutallyhonestmicrostock.com/2021/03/18/7-reasons-why-microstock-photography-is-probably-a-waste-of-your-time/

Just checked my February 2021 iStock earnings results making me even more pessimistic.

Looking forward to a fruitful discussion.

Is Microstock still worth it in 2021?
I can categorically say no, its not worth it unless those consider it some sort of hobby. In my case, Ive relegated this side-hustle to a sort of a fun past-time to upgrade some gear once upon a time as discussed above and if theres a bit left over to spend on travel (whenever possible, hopefully soon).

Theres more money to be made picking up loose change in supermarket shopping carts or turning cans/bottles over to recycling centres for a few quarters.

From applying and getting the green light, was 16 hours. By then it's pretty much old news.

How's your experience been uploading as "Alamy Live News"?

With another year / decade gone by Im happy to share with you my first monthly report for 2031 Special Edition, straight from idyllically-tropical island of Fernando de Noronha, 350km off the coast of Northeastern Brazil, where Ive been living for the past two years!

Ive decided to stay as far away from civilization as possible with no regrets. Things started to get increasingly chaotic and dystopic especially with the new Covid strains, civil uprisings, nuclear strikes, etc.

Welcome back to another detailed monthly report during these increasingly strange and desperate times! To recap, September proved to be a terrible month as the travel industry (my niche) fails to recover. Let's see if things improved in October...

Finding motivation can be difficult but we must keep looking around for opportunities as there plenty if you know where to look.

Welcome back to another detailed monthly report during these increasingly strange and desperate times! August proved to be a terrible month but can be somewhat forgiven for traditionally being a holiday month, as well as everything else thats going on.

Let's see how I did in September...

"How to earn less than $1 a month on 3,870 images" by a donkey BigStock contributor

Sept 2019, I earned a relatively high $24 on 3,667 images.

Have your sales also collapsed?

Ive always liked Alamys business model. For years theyve worked hard to keep license fees relatively high by carving out an editorial niche in a crowded marketplace. Their commission levels continue to be one of the better ones within the major agencies, at 40% for non-exclusive and 50% for exclusive. In addition, they have top-notch contributor customer services.

However, for the past year Ive noticed within my port, reduced sales and low low prices. Easy to blame Covid but Ive noticed this trend long before March 2020. So lets dig deeper at whats going on at Alamy! Be warned that this way a a very stats-based post.

How have your sales at Alamy been for the past year?

Welcome back to another detailed monthly report during these increasingly strange and desperate times!

Contributors, including myself, are upset at Shutterstocks shocking new earnings declinebut with some stats to analyze, lets see how much different they were from pre-June days. However, I would suggest to develop a positive mentality to look for profitable opportunities elsewhere and trust me there are many

General Stock Discussion / Selling Book Covers Blog Post
« on: July 10, 2020, 14:28 »
Hey all,

After many years of trial and error, I'm finally having some success with selling book covers at Arcangel.

Happy to share with you my latest post, which includes tips on what makes a good book cover and my latest sales:

https://brutallyhonestmicrostock.com/2020/07/10/tips-on-making-money-with-book-cover-photography-update/

Book covers, as a niche, certainly make a great alternative to diminishing returns on micros.

If it's something you're interested in, please get in touch and/or comment below or within my blog post.

Best regards,

This will be the last report before the new Shutterstock schedule and will serve as a good benchmark to see just how far earnings will drop from June and then again from January 2021.
