Pond5 / Re: 4K on Pond5
« on: June 28, 2018, 05:26 »
I've also seen huuuuge jump in views, and was puzzled by it. As this "views" went up, sales went down  :o
But i fear not :)

Pond5 / Re: Can not FTP to Pond5
« on: May 03, 2018, 09:29 »
Same here,  started almost a year ago. I contacted support, they said everything is ok on their side....

Had no solution but to upload through browser.

53
I sold one once, only one i have, on Adobe.

Dont think there is reason to make multi sequence and upload those files separately:
  • Waste of time
  • Buyer gets more, for the same money, if he buys the sequence

Pond5 / Re: Something is wrong on pond5 sales since September 2017
« on: February 01, 2018, 01:54 »
the point is that if something happen, it will be easy to discover they sold video and make money from a commercial point of view...in my country if you do this you risk 200 thousand euro of fine for lack of proper insurance, and they must pray not hitting anybody.
i hope the agency soon will be forced to request permission document for video shot in public places.

Where are you from?

55
This is true.

56
Thanks!  I use a Panasonic GH4 and Phantom 4 Pro, for now.  GH4 might need a new upgraded companion soon.

Have the same equipment right now :)   P4P is great.  I really like your pricing :D  hope the sales are good!

Even the low light is crazy good with P4P, even at 1600-3200 ISO. White the P3P and P4 top limit for ok footage is ISO400.

Check out this guys P4P night video. Read video description.

Had the same with December payout, send email, and they released my payment shortly. It was 29.5$ payout.

It was my second sale there in nearly a year :(

General Stock Discussion / Re: Best stock to sell footage

Why does it take so much longer for clips to sell on Pond5 than elsewhere?
Other sites I've had sales a month after uploading.
Is it the search engine, the variation in clips on Pond5 or a different client base?
Or something else?

Have no idea, i was thinking the same thing. Perhaps it is their algorithm. New clips have 0 views for months while old are getting views and sales more and more.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Motion element Is Dead?
« on: January 31, 2018, 01:43 »
I had a delay from December so i sent a message to them, and they released that payment shortly. ME is quite a slow seller for me, over 300 footage, and only 2 sales in almost a year.
Not sure if i should keep uploading there.

Ya it's crazy how much better the P4P footage is.  I upgraded from Phantom 3 Pro to 4 Pro almost a year ago and have no regrets at all.

Just like i wrote this post :D

P3P and P4 have same camera, P4 lens in maybe 5% better, both 12megapixes camera. While P4P has 20Mp camera which is even better than Inspire 1 X3 (16MP).

P4P * rocks in term of camera quality and flight times. I get 23-25 minutes in the air depending of the flight and wind conditions.

So, what should i do now? Stop uploading as PJPEG?

Any more info on AfterCodecs plugin for AE? Is it worth buying? Any free ProRes encoder for Windows? I mean, if AfterCodecs or similar doses the job i am willing to pay for it, just need some info/experience.

Thanks!

Pond5 / Re: Can not FTP to Pond5

I have been having problems with the Pond 5 uploader recently.
It is a pain but the only effective way to upload at the moment which works for me is to use the site uploader and send no more than 2 files at a time.

I have exactly the same problem, that started months ago, contacted support and they said that everything is ok on their side. The problem persists. And since then i am just using website upload option and it works good for me, even for more files at once. Tho my lats upload was 10 files (~18GB), and i had 9 errors with one good file. This never happened before, maybe 1 error at a time, but never 9 of 10.

Hi Stefan, are you still into stock?

Any luck with promoting your footage this way? :)

Honestly, i don't think that you can get in trouble via stock footage of cityscape you made, but you never know.
Point is to use your drone consciously, not hurt anyone, not damage anything, not fly in restricted areas such as airport or military objects, and not fly inside any kind of power or any other kind of plant area without permission :)

Do you, or anybody else, think that someone is actually checking stock footage for flights with or without permission? I know for example that in France, if you want to make any kind of commercial aerial footage, you need their permissions (full UAV flight exam/test with all other necessary permissions). You need this even if you intend to make aerial stock footage of nature (not urban areas). But is there anyone actually checking for aerial stock footage taken far from urban areas, i am not really sure.

I know big story was one guy who published on YT his aerial footage of some king of huge electric power plant in France weeks after some terrorist attack (not very smart) as you can imagine :) They looked for this guy, found him (i think) and he was hugely fined or something. But flying a drone over electric power plant just after terrorist attack, and publishing footage on YT and flying a drone far from urban area for stock is far away :)

What does this mean for all media uploaded as PJPEG?

New Sites - General / OverflightStock
« on: October 12, 2017, 12:10 »
Hi,

is anybody uploading their videos or photos to overflightstock.com agency?

If yes, what is the experience and general impression?

If no. Why no?

For some reason it seems good to me, maybe because videos are priced nicely (high), commission is 50%, it is well organised, and response from the guy operating the agency is really fast. Thing i don't like is that the site has no contributor backend, which means there is no contributor login, or any kind of control of your videos, or financial stuff.

Thank you!

I know its a long term problem, but i think it is ok to complain to them all the time about it. Maybe they will speed things up a little bit :)

7-19 at P5, good for you :)

I started ClipCanvas maybe 2 years ago, and stopped year+ ago because of 0 sales, and at that moment they had some problem with uploading files. There i have only clip previews, and 0 sales.

My opinion is that CC is not really good agency.

I emailed the today about this, and got reply:

"Thanks for reaching out today!

We are indeed aware of this issue here, and we agree with you that it's not great both for the buyers or the artists. We are looking into a solution for this, but it seems to be a lot more tricky than we thought at first, so we don't have a timeframe for a fix at this time.

We do intend to fix this sooner rather than later.

Thanks for understanding our limitations here and contributing with Pond5."

Hope they fix this soon.

Pond5 / Re: woooow my first sale on POND5
« on: September 29, 2017, 16:19 »
Do not try to lower, try to raise prices. I sell footage 1080p at 59$-79$ and 4K 199$, 189$(mostly), and all 4K down converted to 1080p at 79$. have portfolio of ~400 clips, and get 1-3 sales a month on P5

It is not much of sales, but it is not that big portfolio either, most of it is aerial-nature. And for now i think im ok, get some more sales on other agencies as well...

I tried lower prices at the begging - 49$ per clip, and no sales, later i raised prices and built portfolio and sales started. Trust me your sales are not based on your prices, but on your portfolio!

+ Pond 5 is more for video than photo, so your 13 clips is nothing (no hard feelings :)

If you lower prices, you do it for your self and for all the industry ultimately.

General - Stock Video / Where do you sell?
« on: September 18, 2017, 03:35 »
Hi,

i am just wondering where do you sell your videos? What are good places for selling? I am in microstock for about 2 years now, and have portfolio of ~400 clips. Not that much for 2 years in this, but time is huge resource here. This is side income for me (which i want to expand but in the right places).

So, i have tried:

Are 2-3 on SS and P5 each for a month small amount of sales for ~400 clips?

With VB and ME i get me good return if they sell, but i don't want to waste time with ME for example if it will not sell. I do have batches of ~15GB to upload on 4Mbps, and i have tons of video to prepare for stock. Just looking for the right way to direct energy and time spent on this.
I earn my living by filming with drones, so bulk of my portfolio are aerial shots.

Feel free to comment portfolio as well :)
