I don't understand the offer being made - but no, I haven't heard of Shutterstock buying out images before.
What I don't understand is that copyright transfer to Shutterstock is a one time legal transaction for which I would expect a one time payment from SS. Once they own the copyright they are free to do what they want with the image(s).
If they're talking about minimum payout for the first year with the possibility of more money later, that doesn't sound like a copyright transfer but a complex rights managed deal.
If the restrictions on the sister images are forever, I'd suggest that you try and sell the copyrights to all of the images rather than give away any earnings for sister images at all images for all time, particularly if the subject matter/people/props/location is one where you have many images that would no longer be licensable.
$1,500 is a nice royalty, but they're asking for a lot of rights, so don't shortchange yourself.

I have sold lots of copyrights and they are mostly genuine, you have to remove the pic from ALL sites though. Whoever you are you wont survive nowadays on micro alone so I'd sell it for sure!

I changed it anyway ... because it was an old password but, bruteforce targeting of user accounts isn't a "hack" so there very well could be some attempts ... but, it'd take years for them to even make a dent.
They could over a long period of time take a bit here and there! nobody would notice or be alarmed and it could go on for years!........when you write to support to check your account all you get back is the same waffle " we're constanly improving our Tech department and so on"

Not only is this strategy not good for contributors, it also makes it increasingly difficult for consumers to sort through the glut of poor quality images to find the good stuff. This emphasis on pleasing shareholders in the short term rather than thinking about what is best for the company in the long term is a problem across the business world. It all comes down to short-sighted greed.

Utter utter shite. November statarted as abysmal as ever. The whole site has become a compromised bin. Depressing.

Great post Mike!...I have even had agencies offering to buy the whole portfolio, only a few months back some clown obviously from some agency!...its all BS from the beginning to the end!
I tell you people and on this point i do agree with people like Laurin etc, etc. This business will just go further and further down the toilet until we start boycotting certain agencies who are the ultimate destroyers of this business!

The concept of GL was actually brilliant! but leftovers aimed towards advertising and designers they chose micro which was totally wrong. They should have gone the RM/RF way instead!
I know these guys very well and theyre a clever bunch but unfortunately when they started micro was already on a decline!
Not actually that clever then if they made a fundamental business mistake 
Nope! they are not your run of the mill owners, I know them personally and they have tons of knowledge in the ad-world, art-direction etc, etc....its like the guys of Stockxpert, one of the best agencies ever in its time then bought by Isock and it went to crap!....then these guys opened up stockfresh or something and it just never got off the ground. Paws!! hehe! you dont know EVERYTHING you see, you have to know the actual people in question!!

Glidecam is another option. You can get smooth shots without having to charge more batteries and depend on motors working.
This is what i started with, i was trying to find a more compact glidecam and thats how i got to the roxant type stabilizers.
The issues remain the same though, takes time to balance, mostly horizontal shots, takes some getting used to for the knack of the two hand operation.
I hear ya. I get smooth shots out of the glidecam but sometimes I screw it up. It's not easy. I also have 2 motorized gimbal and both have presented issues. I usually know what went wrong with the glidecam. The motorized gimbals seem to have weird glitches at the wrong time. I just don't fully trust em.

Too true!! you cant trust them not even the expensive ones, all having weird issues!...was shooting aircrafts on a commission last year and using an almost top of the line gimal and started to play up exactly at the critical time!...not happy!...fortunately I only rented it for three days!..still!..I really dont know what to make of all these gadgets?

To be honest I thought the comment about a women's only section was somewhat tongue in cheek  . I think its interesting though that a post pointing out what probably 95% of members consider ill judged at best has created such a vitriolic argument.

The use of traditional expressions tend to create a lynching mob instead of an education action.
