johnbull!  is actually correct on this one!!....$10 bucks a day goes a heck of a long way in these parts of the world and consequently these guys are uploading like crazy, quitting day-jobs everything! just to sit there 24 hours uploading!!....well in our parts of the world we havent got time for that, life is too fast and too expensive for small returns.
Of course SS will favour the people uploading full-time!....its obvious!

Since I turned Emerald at FT over 2 years back its been a steady decline!  first one to notice that was Lisafx!  she is not with us anymore but her observation was spot on!

No, there are no such thing as caps.  ;)

Actually its not that kind of cap!!  but to save paying out commission they rather via the algorithm direct sales to contributors with a lower royalty percentage and that way save millions in payouts!.....SS does exactly the same, have been doing it for years now....DT will rob the rich and give it to the poor, justyfying it all in the name of fairness!...business must be fair!!  ever heard anything so stupid??
Maybe so if business doesn't need to be fair then theres no problem with "caps" then or should business just be fair to you?

Paws!  this is an old story! according to some people its been going on for years and why not? its business and business means earning with any means possible!...first I heard about is was about 5 years back! and I tend to agree with it as I am experiencing it!

Its true!  SS  is collecting all the garbage under the sun! pics that normally would be thrown away are accepted all over the place.

When distributors, aggregators and " factories" are way, way down!  thats when its time to start worrying! since they are cared for and looked after!
Well apparently not anymore....less sales for them potentially bigger slice of the cake for us little guys ;-).

Yes but in this case I recon its a general drought!  I think next QR we are in for a nasty surprise!

Something is without doubt wrong with SS!!  just spoke ta a partner in a factory, freaking 350.000 files and they are down 60% so far in November!!....its almost surreal, bizzare how things have changed just during the last year.

Same here mate! fallen through the floor!!  with the exception of Fotolia!...its the same everywhere right across the board almost!
Everywhere else is fairly average for me. I think Adobe may well be giving SS some serious competition at last.

I sincerely hope so! its about time somebody else makes a mark and impose some serious competition.

Somebody I know beat that fantastic record of 1.50 by 0.20!!  hahaha!  so guys come on lets make lots of 4K for them and why not 8K since youre at it!! ::) ;D ;D

I understand it was a joke, but just for info, Pond5 is the only place I've found who accept anything above 4K.

Yes they accept 6K but not 8, at least they didnt before!

To be frank!  who in their right frame of mind would ever envisage any micro-agency to sell video for big bucks??? its not their game! ...pics and videos off the peg is more like it!

This new Admin are now employing old contributors to answer your question and complaints instead of like before an SS official would take care of it!  if you write and ask them to just check your account for some reason, they wont but up comes a trusted contributor telling you he is not allowed to go into your account but everything is OK!!

So if video sales and stills sales are going to the dogs, well guess why!...this place is getting more and more weird by the minute!

Istock is right now the best of agencies! and inspite of their low commission. Give them the right stuff and it will sell. Conceptual photography, studio, people, technology, industry,  lifestyles are among their best sellers.
Dont think in terms of SS! thats where the floodgates are more then wide open collecting tons and tons of utter garbage. That snot the way to do it!

For the ones interested! Its no wonder sales are down! I spoke to a partner of a huge distributor, known him for 20 odd years and they hav just experienced the worst year ever! and when that happens to a distributor, well then it is REALLY bad news!

I'm totally new to video but comments like this make me want to stay away from shutterstock and stick with Pond5.  I'm I right on that?
If only people had stayed away from SS's 25c subs.  :(

Best comment of the month!

I have left my portfolio at 4 agencies, SS, DT and DP! havent uploaded for a year, I am only active and uploading to Adobe/Ft and Istock!....youre right though in the sense that smaller agencies are quite useless!

I know a guy on Panther-media, he's got around a thousand shots there and collects around 400 bucks a month from that agency. Now who would have thought Panther-Media could come up with something like that??

Same port is at SS and he barely gets a payout!, didnt get it this month!

Chosing any agency is just a shot in the dark! luck of the draw nowaday!

This was done exactly this way some 3-4 years back and see what happened!  all of a sudden many were earning tens of thousands every month! in the end I think Tyler even removed the thread??

Well it seems a bit more genuine this time, for now that is?
