General Stock Discussion / Re: Pond5 exclusively
« on: May 30, 2020, 22:51 »
i have contacted their support, did you know that you can leave videos on adobestock and same videos can be exclusive to pond5?

because of adobestock and pond5 deal.

that's something we all needed to know.

I very much doubt that.

I had an exclusive account with P5. My clips showed up on Adobe stock because of their partnership. What do you doubt?

27
Why is everyone trying to "demand" ss to do anything? Hey SS thanks for raping us, but could you ease up on the hair pulling while you do so, pretty please?

Don't try to deal with these crooks, abandon them.

28
Why even bother trying to salvage anything with this company? It's like trying to get an abusive spouse to promise to stop beating you. What is the point? SS is junk and we really don't need them.

29
What about pulling a move similar to BlackBox and submitting our footage to one account for the time being? We will at least hit the highest % on SS quicker if we band together.  I dunno, maybe that wouldn't work?

30
Lets upload to Blackbox. Surely they have more than 25k video clips sold per year and that means we will get the top commission, no??

Does this mean by uploading to Blackbox we are automatically in the top tier of earners???

Me too! MSG down but not out! A lot of chaos out there recently. But not all bad. SS sales shifting into high gear while DP can't seem to upload files. Very bumpy kind of start to 2020!

How's this a bumpy start? Maybe improve your portfolio instead of whining, hey?

Similar pricing in P5 but still i see popup previews with "from $31" and frick out.
Anyway.
Finally rejected my idea.
I went through their agreement and there is no content deletion option. They clearly state this.
I mean content deletion from the contributor's side.
That is more restrictive even than exclusivity.

They still sell clips nobody else does, however, I only give them my junkers and none of my high-end hyperlapse footage.

But now you know. so if you dont like the terms now, you can remove them. People always seem surprised when this happens.

How much did you make in sales this week?

IF you're willing to submit your clip to an agency with its' specific stated terms then stop your whining. You agreed to the terms. If you don't like the terms, remove your footage.

These weren't the terms we signed up for. Hey "stop your whining" guy, go away. We don't like you.

Two years later, any new reviews or opinions?
I mean new news, not what is written above.
Friendly or hostile?
Do they sell or not?
Pricing? I see HD clips advertised from $24?
Would this be a good alternative for SS now on or not?

Thanks!

they sell not much but the price is still 79/179$....so for me it's worth to upload there...
the 24$ per clip you see comes from people that submit the same clip at lower price somewhere else so dissolve matches the lower price..i find it fair...

All my clips are priced at $49 and when I emailed them they said that's the new pricing. I have clips on P5 for $149/$75 so they definitely aren't matching the lowest price, they are going far below it.

37
Had one for $3 two weeks ago, followed by $102, $23 and now $1.80

Fyi SS I'm deleting every clip you sell for scraps.

You mean: Why does not work?

I use the same files for adobe, Shutterstock, and dissolve(slightly revised) but Pond5 doesn't seem to work as easily when I upload the csv. Am I missing something?

I tried in the past but wasn't able to get my keywords and titles to load properly. Is there a way to do this without having to go through clips one by one?

This is my lowest sale to date. I've seen the $1.50 threads but thought I'd just share this anyway. I guess the 90 minutes it took to shoot this clip and the hour to process it is only worth $3.36. Keep up the great work shutterstock.

Here's what SS considers to be worthless. https://www.shutterstock.com/video/clip-1030079846

Well, $3.36 is a laughable commission of course, but I'm sure the clip will sell more than once (and for higher commissions too), so I'm sure you'll make a profit in the long run for your hard work.

It has sold elsewhere for the normal rate. It's laughable that SS sells a clip that's not even a year old for peanuts. I'd rather make 0 than $3 for my hard work.

did you removed it?

SS says 404 "Well, this is unexpected..."

but with this pricing this (removing asset) had to be expected from contributors side...

Yes I did remove it. I should have left it up for a bit after posting this.  :o

Thanks, man. It sucks to see anyones hard word undervalued like this. I'm going to follow suit and start removing any clip that sells for a pittance.

General - Stock Video / Re: Corona affecting sales?
« on: April 24, 2020, 18:21 »
My medical and surgical shots are selling like mad! although I am not sure if its Corona related or not? might be.

James, are you still uploading to Storyblocks? I pulled my portfolio a year ago and am wondering if the commission structure is the same, and are there many sales still?

45
I too am getting a lot of rejections. This wasn't the case a year ago but now 90% of a catalog will be rejected due to similar content, grain, or any other excuse. These reviewers don't even look at the footage half the time and the rejections are within a few hours.

No sales to report since the shutdown. I expect this will continue for a few months.

Don't bother tracking George down.  He no longer works at Dissolve.  In fact, the guy that replaced George is also no longer there.

Thanks James. I think I'm done uploading to that site after seeing such a huge drop in sales along with the ultra low prices.

I'm replying to the thread starter instead of tracking him down and wasting time. Thanks for contributing soooooooooo much to the conversation.
