They do not sell personal data of photographer and model(s). But a client can buy a MR copy with removed all sensitive data, check e,g, P5 client FAQ.
Ah yes I so I see: "The provided release will have the full text of the agreement and signatures visible, but any identifying information about the models, artist, and witnesses will be obscured. The fee to obtain a copy or a release is $50/$75 for each file. To request for a copy of a release, please contact us and provide us with the file IDs." Very interesting.

" Do buyers have access to model release forms?"
No.
Ah thank you. That makes life easier.

This query relates to buyers who purchase a license to use model released stock images from a stock agency. Obviously, the buyer is informed by the agency that the photo or clip featuring a person has a valid model release form. Though does the buyer ever see the model release? Is the buyer given a copy of the release? Or is it a case that they have no access to the release and rely on the trust of the agency that there is a release that was provided by the photographer?
The reason why I'm curious is I am considering trying to sell some stock directly with no agency involved. And I may have some images featuring myself and possibly other people (who I would normally need model release forms for.) I would inform any interested buyers that I have releases for the models. Though is it likely that they would demand to see the releases or download them? And if they go ahead with that, I'm wondering if there would be any disadvantages like the risk of identity theft etc.

I just came across this page with P5 advertising subscriptions to buyers. https://www.pond5.com/review-plansI thought Hyperstock was the only avenue for video subscriptions offered by P5 (non existant for now.)

I was thinking of doing the same thing myself with youtube and state that the same footage could be purchased through P5, AS etc. Though recently, I had a change of plan. With stock agencies becoming more greedy in general, I thought I'd put my e-mail address in there instead and allow viewers to purchase directly from me, cutting out the middle man. As we've seen recently, SS have dropped a bombshell. And at the moment, P5 seems quite respectable but how long will they stay that way? Already, they've introduced things like credit packs, reducing contributor commissions from 50% to 40% (unless we go exclusive.) Who knows how far they'll go in the future. I think sooner or later, more stock photographers will be forced to sell direct.
Incidentally, a number of years ago, a local band contacted me after seeing some footage of mine on youtube. They wanted to use it for a music video clip for one of their songs and were willing to pay me for it. It didn't go ahead unfortunately as they spent all their money on recording an album. Ive also been contacted by the BBC and an American media company after they saw some other clips of mine on youtube. Though they wanted the footage for free so that was a 'no deal.'

We don't know what she does and what her task are though. Surely just being a forum admin can't be all? She literally doesn't do more than 5 posts a week and questions and PMs towards her stay unanswered.
Speaking of Kate, have you seen her photo and video ports? I'm far from impressed. Very mediocre stuff. Obviously, the new payment system affects her too as she is also a contributor but I doubt she cares.

Sucks that you had a sale taken away from you. However, I'm curious how you got such a high commission from a sub video sale. Ever since these things were first introduced about a month ago, they were generally around $3 or thereabouts.

I did it too, but I noticed Youtube is not the right place to promote my work. I got some views on the more popular subjects but I also received a lot of dislikes from people thinking 'royalty-free' means 'free' and claimed how I was misleading them because they had to pay to use my videos. Sometimes you have to laugh at uneducated people. Actual buyers won't shop around via Youtube anyway, so it was a lot of wasted time for me.
Another stock photographer I know uploaded some of her stock videos to youtube and included the names of the agencies where the individual clips could be found. Now it could be a coincidence but some of those same clips later sold.

Out of curiosity, what kind of prices are people getting for non-subscription video sales so far this month? Any ultra low ones? There haven't been many of these reported over on the forums at SS.

You need to apply for submitting videos (they don't sell them to the public yet). I understand that they are likely to take some appropriate editorial images and videos but it might be on a contributor by contributor basis depending on what they think might be in demand.
Steve
Ah thankyou for the info. I noted last night that they were promoting stock footage on their website. I'd probably submit commercial videos to them and send my editorial clips to P5 as exclusive.

Ive gone through their website but couldn't find any information about submitting videos or video technical requirements. I only found info on submitting stills. I wonder if they accept editorial videos (though I do plan on selling my editorial clips as exclusive on Pond 5.)

And now Ive just come across another hurdle. According to the FAQ, I need to go to the Exclusivity Landing page in order to enroll in the exclusive program. I'm on that very page now but I don't see any options to enroll or join. All I see is a list of benefits on being exclusive. If I click on Sell Your Footage, I'm directed to the home page.

Are you using spaces to separate words, If you take out the spaces you should be good to go. this is my title......CHDigitalMedia no spaces
Yea I am using spaces. Though I admit it would look odd if I added 'Exclusive' on the end of my existing user name without a space in between. I also did a test where I typed in random letters with no spaces as my user name and it still got rejected it for special characters. Edit: I just tried again with no space between my original user name and 'Exclusive' and it worked. Thanks!

So over on the Contributor Experience forum, some people are saying they've already had sales very recently. It's currently the early hours of the morning on June 1 in NY but so far, people are still receiving the old subscription rates. So the question is - what's going on with SS' new earnings system? Delayed? Change of plans? There's been no announcement.

I'm trying to sign up right now though it's not accepting my new user name. It's indicating that no special characters are allowed. All I'm doing is reusing my existing user name (which has no special characters) and adding 'exclusive.' At first, I thought that maybe they have an issue with the capital letters I used at the beginning of my original user name and 'exclusive.' I changed them to lower case but that made no difference. Very odd. I'm definitely not using any special characters.

Stopping uploads is also an easier solution for the many people who simply cannot afford to switch of portfolios right now.
It should always be a personal decision. If you simply need the money right now, dont do it. Feed the family, but you can focus your uploads aggressively elsewhere and bring more balance.
I admit it's a really hard decision to make as to which direction to go. Money is low. One thing's for sure, I won't be submitting anymore content. And I will almost definitely be deactivating my video port and making some clips exclusive on Pond 5. As for my photo port, I'm very much undecided whether I should let it sit there or deactivate it too.

It is not possible as now to have both accounts under the same umbrella-name. What I did is to use the same name but with a "_exclusive" added so any potential client could guess that I had another non exclusive account there.
Ah very clever! That's a good strategy.

Just a thought (question): by deactivating the portfolio on June 1, isn't there a risk of not receiving the earnings for May that should be paid at least in June? And if this is the case, isn't it better to wait until you have been paid before you deactivate your portfolio?
That's my plan. At the moment, I'm not all that far from my next payout. And when I do receive that payout, I'll deactivate my port. Better to be safe than sorry.

Their company, their forum. They can do whatever they want with it. Interesting to see the lengths they're going to though.
Very true. Though that was one of the most harmless threads that emerged over the last few days. There are other threads that are much more provocative and very much anti-SS that still remain on the forum.
