Jon is right about one thing. If I could self host and sell on my own, I would. But I've been saying that for so long, that I'm getting tired of reading my own posts. Why isn't there one, simple self hosted software platform, for individuals? One that works? If there are all these thousands of artists out there, wouldn't it make sense to have a basic, digital download software package, not WordPress. One that actually handles display, search and transactions? Is it that complicated or is the prospective market so small that no one wants to develop the package? Maybe this is the right time? Thousands of people who want to go self hosted.

Interesting change in the market: https://petapixel.com/2020/05/20/olympus-exits-camera-market-in-korea/Digital camera sales have indeed fallen off a cliff in recent years as consumers rely more and more on their smartphone cameras, making the business landscape increasingly bleak for camera companies especially ones with smaller market shares.

Dear Contributor,
We are notifying you that we are retiring the Getty Images Music Portal platform in early June. To meet the needs of our customers, we will be collaborating with Epidemic Sound to incorporate their royalty‑free music collection into our products.
As a result, your Getty Images Music Contributor Agreement and/or Pump Audio License agreement is terminated effective August 6, 2020.
Prior to the termination of your agreement, all music tracks will be removed from GettyImages.com/Music. However, customers will still be able to complete licenses until August 6, 2020.Just in case anyone is interested that didn't get this. http://app.engage.gettyimages.com/e/es?s=1591793372&e=4250036&elqTrackId=178baed6532740e59ffea78497faafe5&elq=32d9032e2d014df1aa55e37d10c6f4ba&elqaid=33595&elqat=1That pretty well does it for me. Some months I made more on SFX than photo.

Enough off topic yet on topic. Interesting how this guy took the time to track all this down. https://photographylife.com/how-expertphotography-com-steals-contentPart of this is interesting as there is some advise about how sites get ranked and how Google looks for copied content which will not raise the rank. It does not take a lot of effort to start a new site and crank out a boatload of content, if all you are doing is copying your competition. With the photography market on the decline, a number of photography websites have already gone through their demises. And whats left is being attacked by some very dishonest individuals and media companies that exploit search engines to move themselves up the ranks. These websites are copycats they crank out content on a daily basis solely for traffic, they have no communities and they have no real following. One such website is ExpertPhotography.com. In this article, we will take a look at how ExpertPhotography shamelessly stole numerous articles from Photography Life and other websites, and how it quickly climbed the ladders of search engines, even managing to surpass the ranking of the original content. So you want you site ranked higher? There's some interesting advice in this as well as the expose of Expert Photography and their copying.

Kind of complicated. After reading it's possible that the Instagram TOS have changed. But short version. Mashable was doing a feature on important Women photographers. Asked one of the ten selected artists, STEPHANIE SINCLAIR, if they could use one of her images for $50. (image that is on Instagram) They did the story by linking to her Instagram account, with her publicly published version of the photo. Read that again. They didn't link to the photo, which would be illegal, they linked to her account. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/thr-esq/court-rules-photographer-gave-up-licensing-rights-by-posting-instagram-1290170Judge: "Unquestionably, Instagrams dominance of photograph- and video-sharing social media, coupled with the expansive transfer of rights that Instagram demands from its users, means that Plaintiffs dilemma is a real one. But by posting the Photograph to her public Instagram account, Plaintiff made her choice. This Court cannot release her from the agreement she made." And to make this easier to see, nice story, the article that used her Instagram account to illustrate her work. I just looked, I think they removed the link or she removed the photo, so nothing to see. https://mashable.com/2016/03/19/female-photojournalists-social-justice/

If I have a vector on Adobe, is it only available as a Vector or does the site offer them an option to download as a JPG download as well?
I have some that are only the Vector, not uploaded with a paired image, and I wonder if I'm limiting the availability by skipping the paired JPG when I upload them?
Anyone know for sure? I don't have a buyers account.

I couldn't find an existing thread about this. Maybe I just missed it. On the other hand, I'm looking for opinions and personal experiences.
I just uploaded 24 vectors to Alamy, did the keywords manually, because I don't have the rasters for them or would have had to create zips and other time consuming creations. I am just testing and have another batch.
Anyone have sales or is this just throwing my vectors into a black hole, waste of time?
I like the $4 a download idea, but no sales, it's nothing but a number.

Kodak Professional January 27 at 7:00 AM CT Scanning X-Ray Technology and Film As many of you know, the United States Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has recently been installing Computed Tomography (CT) scanners for carry-on luggage in US airports. In the coming months these scanners will be operational at 145 airports in the US. CT scanning technology has been used for checked luggage for many years, and Kodak Alaris and Eastman Kodak have warned photographers not to check their film, but rather to carry it on and request it be hand-checked by TSA agents at Security. To better assess the risk to film from the new carry on scanners we brought a small quantity of Portra 400/135 to John F Kennedy Airport in NYC. With the help of TSA representatives the film was put through the new carry on CT scanners from 1-10 times. The film was then evaluated at Eastman Kodak Research facilities. The initial results are not good. Just 1 scan shows significant film fogging, leading to smoky blacks and loss of shadow detail. This will be more significant for higher speed films. Although its possible that a roll of 100 speed film would show less degradation, we strongly recommend against putting any unexposed or exposed but unprocessed film through a CT Scanner. We reached out to the TSA to ask what options there might be to warn passengers. We originally asked if it would be possible to add signage at airports that utilize CT scanning technology. We are developing warning stickers that can be placed on your film. These will be available in a label format so they can be printed on your in-home or in-office printer. Just attach the label to the plastic bag as described in the TSA description below. The TSA did tell us that all TSA screeners are trained to hand check roll and movie film as well as single-use cameras. Sheet film in boxes may require more diligence on the part of the photographer. From the TSA: Most x-ray machines used to screen carry-on bags should not damage undeveloped film under ASA\ISO 800. There are a limited number of screening checkpoints that use x-ray equipment that may damage undeveloped film. These airports will have signage in front of the x-ray stating that the x-ray may damage undeveloped film. If you are traveling with the following types of film, please pack it in a clear plastic bag, remove it from your carry-on bag at the checkpoint, and ask for a hand inspection: Film with an ASA\ISO 800 or higher Highly sensitive x-ray or scientific films Film that is or will be underexposed Film that you intend to push process Sheet film Large format film Medical film Scientific film Motion picture film Professional grade film Film of any speed that is subjected to x-ray screening more than five times In most cases, the x-ray equipment used for screening checked baggage will damage undeveloped film; therefore, please place undeveloped film in carry-on bags. For more information please download the film Storage and Care Information sheet from our website: https://imaging.kodakalaris.com//f/wysiwyg/pro/CIS_E30.pdf For more information on TSA use of CT technology, please: https://www.tsa.gov/computed-tomographyFor more information on TSA screening procedures, please visit https://urldefense.com//www.tsa.gov__;!!NtZYYMejrjoc!zT1yW . I tried to pick the same month, close to the same date, September. But 2013 is August and 2019 is Nov. Best I could do with limited data. FT is missing when AS bought them, but you can see the trend. Bigstock 1.1 only 39 votes. DP 6.2 36 votes.

I see a sale $23 in Feb. then I see a refund in March, same image. Yet it shows as the amount earned $23 when I look at images by sales. Shouldn't that show as $0.00 because it was refunded, or am I missing something? Only one sale for that image, that I can see, which was refunded. Some odd accounting?

Good reading https://blog.ericgoldman.org/archives/2019/10/copyright-troll-lawyer-gets-sanctioned-again-sands-v-bauer-media.htm"While the defendant in this case might have opted-out of the proposed new copyright small claims court in the CASE Act, this lawsuit is a nice reminder of how photographers and their lawyers are going to FEAST on any new small claims option. Among other things, the CASE Act proposes a brand-new statutory damages of up to $7,500 for works that were NOT registered on a timely basis. The availability of those statutory damages, plus the high risk of problems with service of process, will make the proposed small claims option into a troll Mecca. Please please please read the CASE Act and speak out if youre as troubled as I am. " Troll Mecca, so that's holding up protecting our rights and work?

Every browser on every computer and I can't figure out what's storing or doing this, or more to the point, how do I get rid of it? When I go to SS and in the search, whether it's in my portfolio for editing or the general site or my own page, some form fill is putting in eseburger! I know I typed it in wrong over a month ago, but it won't go away. I can be at home on a desktop, or on my laptop on the road and still the darn word shows up. Windows 10 and Chrome or Firefox, which makes me think it's not the browser. I cleared all cookies, nope. I cleared history and form fill, nope. This is insane. My other thought is somehow SS is storing this? Which seems pretty illogical, but once again, across computers and browsers, what else am I missing?

The filter is a goner but the Canon 28-300L is safe and perfectly clean. This is not the first time a filter has saved one of my lenses, but I want to point out that old fashion and stupid, because I have a filter on every lens, has saved me again. So now someone tell me about "never put another piece of glass on your lens". $50 is much cheaper than $2,000

I'm from Wisconsin, home of, Colby cheese (yes named after the city), Spotted Cow beer, sold only in WI and of course a variety of cheese factories and artisan cheese makers. Kind of like craft beer has taken off, craft cheese is running through a popular phase. "The shocking news comes from a study conducted at Canadas McMaster University, in which the cheese-eating habits of a whopping 130,000, 35-70 year-olds, representing a staggering 21 countries were examined. Believe it or not, the research shows that participants who consumed a substantial amount of the yellow stuffabout two servings every dayexperienced a decreased level of stroke and heart disease.
Whats interesting, though, is that those who abstained from indulging in cheeseor other dairy products for that matterexperienced a higher rate of mortality, to the tune of 44.4%. Talk about shocking!"https://tiphero.com/eat-cheese-for-a-long-lifeAnd no this isn't one of those, like the Onion or others, humor sites that post real sounding news. It's a real study. Make mine aged Blue Cheese with veins and spots, high cream level. Nothing more enjoyable than a cheese that's aged in a cave and smells like... well anyway. Who'd have thought that a dairy product was good for anything except baby cows?
