Sold a RED on eBay last year that I had for a few months and had a really smooth experience.
Higher priced items have given me less trouble than things in the $100 - $500 range.
Definitely a problem with buyers not paying. It can take weeks before you are able to re-list an item without forfeiting a fee to eBay.
Hopefully theyll find a better system. Would be great if there was a way to better verify and filter who is able to bid on what items.
All said and done though Im glad its an option.

Trend spotting is definitely tricky. Ive been watching the olympics online - crazy how much stock footage is in national broadcast spots.
Looking forward to seeing your progress though and thanks again for the updates.

Thanks for posting this Steve! Really interesting to see the video sales picking up some. Are you going to put a lot more time into footage over photos?

I love your work. Looks really amazing.
The list on the right is a helpful aggregate of many contributors earnings and experiences.
General concensus seems to be that you can earn more by selling non-exclusively to many agencies rather than going with just one.
Glad you reached out on the forum and would love to hear more about your direction in the future.

It seems like they see an extremely lucrative future in it and that they are going to expand the market. I feel like you cant spend 5 minutes in a CC app right now without running into some menu item or app opening page leading you to purchase stock assets.

From the customer license agreement:
If and where commercially reasonable, the use of Visual Content in Merchandise or an audio-visual production shall be accompanied by a credit to Shutterstock in substantially the following form:
"Image(s) or Footage (as applicable), used under license from Shutterstock.com"
Credit attributions are not required in connection with any other use of Images unless another stock content provided is afforded credit in connection with the same use.
In all cases the credit and attribution shall be of such size, color and prominence so as to be clearly and easily readable by the unaided eye.
Usually film contracts have an explicit section that details how credit will be given for any labor or contributed materials.
If the footage and Shutterstock were not in the end credits of the film already, its doubtful they want them on the IMDB page, as they may then need to credit others.
They are definitely not required to credit you as the artist since they purchased it under the above license.
Films are only required to credit when contractually obligated or if they are claiming Fair Use. Neither apply here.
All that being said - you could just try and see what happens. Probably not a huge deal.

I would contact them. In the last batch of clips I had a bunch of rejections for model release problems and intellectual property. They got back to me within a week and ended up taking all of the clips without me having to change anything.
I think some reviewers err on the side of caution.

Might also be worth it to start a relationship if you wanted to do this more often down the road. Could be worth just asking whether this might happen more often.

If Adobe is on the ups that market share has to come from somewhere...

While I appreciate your caution @SuperPhoto I really dont think there is any higher chance of your info being stolen here than from the hundreds of other places you need to show an ID that are analog.
Not sure its worth dwelling on this when there is so much to do if you want to start earning...
If you cant do it - maybe look into Symbiostock or some other form of direct sale.

This is an unusual case. According to the article, the building owner had given permission to the artists, the art was so good the buildings became a tourist attraction, and it would have been possible to salvage a lot of the art if the building owner had given the artists the opportunity to do so.
Also, it sounds like the art may have helped with the gentrification of the neighborhood, which is what made the building site so valuable to the owner.
Agreed that it is an unusual case and seemed to hinge partially on whether or not the building owner knowingly exploited the artists. I do think this will make agencies more cautious though as it creates ambiguity and muddies the waters.

Hi again, I want to share with you my incomings for this first month. I am uploading already my port, so this month started with 30 or 40 videos and now is SS 800, AS 1100 and Pond 1300, as you can see the admitance are very different (I uploaded the same clips)
So, in this month I have sold 4 clips in total, 1 in SS (the second day that I started to upload, and then no more) 1 in AS, and 2 in Pond 5!!! So plus some photos that I sold, I earned around 125 $
I have sorprised with Pond because everybody sayed that it takes more time to starting to sell... and I am desapointed with SS I thought I will sell more there... I hope this month gets better.
To me this is pretty amazing really. Ive never seen sales that quickly after uploading. Thanks for keeping us posted. I just had 50 of 50 accepted by Adobe and am trying to get roughly 900 up by the end of the month. No sales yet... www.StockbyNumbers.com

One option is to register as a business: https://www.shutterstock.com/contributorsupport/articles/kbat02/000006556If you are located in the U.S. you can register a Delaware LLC from any state and keep your identity confidential. Doesn't take more than an hour to go through the process and usually costs around $150 to do online. You will have to pay a tax filing fee every year though that I believe is around $300. The link above describes that you can also register as a business based out of other countries. Might be worth contacting their support again, I've always had good luck with them so it's strange you were running into issues.

Totally normal and steady month for me. Two sales in the first week. Not a huge port in comparison to some others but still doing well on average.

Thanks for the kind words about the footage!
Definitely trying to aim for the authentic. As all the agencies seem to describe it.
Seems to be selling well though.

Why is there an assumption PC cannot do ProRes? All my clips are ProRes and processed on a PC.
You just have to shop for the right software.
Youre exporting prores? Or importing? What software?

I am just getting started on Adobe, but if you look through past posts youll see that for many it has become their #1 or #2 top earner. Sometimes above Pond5 and Shutterstock.
Definitely seems worth it. Poll on the right gives some indicaion as well.
