This is what you can do.
a) Don't submit to them b) Figure out a way to prevent image theft c) Submit to them, and don't worry about the people who will just take the images, because there will be people who need larger images. (Not all images are used "just" for website design/etc).

no position just means 0 sales... I don't yet have a position on adobestock
Might have been broken, or updating. Look now?
I had a Position for week, then yesterday there was none.
As someone pointed out, if we knew what the number means in income, that would be interesting. For example, last week I only made $13 on AS. (all of this is round numbers, hypothetical) and I rank 10,000, so people who made $13 last week are 10,000
People making $?? are 6,000, see where that leads? Useful numbers not just a "position".
Now let me ask, and maybe someone knows? Is Position dollars, downloads, or what? When does a week begin and end, Sunday or Monday?

Strange. I actually see good sales on Pond5 (and I am relatively new), but 0 sales on adobestock...
Many factors of course come into play, such as upload timing, behind-the-scenes curator ratings etc.
But maybe your pricing is much lower at P5, or is it the same or higher than Adobe Stock?
Actually pricing is the same... So very strange... I was thinking maybe adobe was more geared just for photos, since I hadn't had any video sales yet...

Strange. I actually see good sales on Pond5 (and I am relatively new), but 0 sales on adobestock... 2. How are video sales on adobestock?
I find them to be generally quite good, usually more than Shutterstock and Pond5 for me. I'm sure others experience different results, as it depends a lot on when you started uploading and how many sales you already have. For example, I believe Pond5 is the absolute most difficult site to enter today because of the large number of clips. But people who entered the market 10 years ago and managed to get good sales then, may still see great returns because of higher search placement.
An easy way to see if your keywords are working is to search for your own clips (logged out, cookies cleared / different browser). If you can't find them, neither can the buyers.

Thanks for sharing, insightful!
BTW - good luck in your poker tournament! Did you get a free-buy in? Or did you pay $10k to join?

Hi Mat -
Assuming you may get a lot of PM's (sent a PM a few weeks ago never heard back)., so please reply to this message, thanks!
1. Could you please send a request to the dev team to be able to update keywords for "approved" videos/images via .csv? Didn't realize order was important, and it's extremely time consuming to manually use the drag/drop interface to try out different keyword orders for something that may or may not result in any extra sales. If I can edit via .csv, MUCH much more efficient!
Should be an extremely easy thing to code (i.e., less than 2 minutes code wise because most likely just a flag in your DB, but if you do a bunch of testing, etc at most a day. Really only an hour, but giving extra time here).
2. How are video sales on adobestock? I have a bunch of approved videos with no sales as of yet, so not sure if it is because of the keyword combinations/ordering, or if it is just because of low video sales (and then realizing adobestock may be more of an 'image' stock site).
Thanks very much!

As for post processing/color grading/etc - I aim for taking the shot/video correctly the first time, so I don't have to re-do things over again. So, very rarely do I have to do any post processing.
If you take a look at the bestsellers at any stock agency, you will find that 90-100% of the clips are quite heavily graded with a cinematic look.
Unless you have in-camera LUTs, a magical cinematic sensor, and/or a nice combination of 2-3 filters on your lenses, I doubt you can get a graded shot in camera.
yes. I have a magical camera. complete with flying unicorns, white puffy clouds and rainbows. i press a button, and it magically does all the work for me. except splice videos

yes, I have "googled" - but there is one company that has effective spammed pretty much all keyword combinations for exactly the same product (the "wondershare" video editor/converter/etc) - which - isn't really all that great, so it's hard to find anything else that isn't some variant of the wondershare product.
I am looking for something where I can simply pop in a clip, edit the start/end points, and output the final result quickly (without taking 5 minutes to process a 10 second video which most video editors will do).
Any recommendations on that?

Hi!
Please recommend a good video 'splicer'. I just want to be able to import a clip (say 1 minute long) - and then pick the start/end locations and split it creating a new output clip. I don't want it to actually "re-process/re-export" the video (i.e., which can take 1-2 minutes) - but rather it just resets the start/end markers and outputs a new clip in a few seconds.
The one I currently use doesn't really work for all videos (in that it doesn't set the start/end positions correctly) so I am looking for a new one.
Thanks!

Sounds like you are owed $5+ million dollars! Congrats! Just kidding Yeah, sounds like they made a mistake, surprised they disclosed that. Probably not just to you, but everyone with an iStock account.

Yes, it's normal.
Depends on the agency, who is reviewing at what time of day, etc, etc. Sometimes you can even get the same content accepted at an agency that previously rejected it based on who is reviewing it.

Taking a look at their page, and doing a little digging, it appears to be stolen content. In addition to the style of the sales page, style of testimonials, domain name, fact their servers appear to be in panama, use of name servers, etc which all would indicate a bit of a shady site. Appears that they've ripped off content from pixbay (where authors provide content for free), and are reselling it, but might even have been taking from sites like motionarray & envato elements, where they recently devalued authors work as well (so in essence, it's like $0.50/$1/video, etc from those sites too). Even though some of the content appears to be from pixbay ( https://pixabay.com/en/videos/list/), and they allow 'free' commercial use, the license does not allow for simply repackaging/reselling as stock photo. So you might contact them, see if they can do something about the stolen content. However, they only have about 7,000 free videos. So... that's another 14,000 unaccounted for, probably taken from the other sites mentioned above. This site was started 2018. Various 'samples' appear to be have been produced/used way before that. I.e., looking at the sample images in their sample "searchable database" http://stocknation1.imgix.net/secret/images/timelapse.png#1) I.e., here's a youtube image (originally posted 2016) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEkgCT_Y8OAsame cloud timelapse #2) Then another item appears in a template in motionelements (a video within a template) (the 2nd timelapse below that) https://www.motionelements.com/ja/after-effects-template-9347535-holographic-display-02(same timelapse) It might be worth a few people signing up just to see if their content is there. There's a few things that can be done if they are selling your stolen content.

Creative Market does exactly same thing with tax withholding, that's one of reasons why I removed most of my work from there. If SS, AS and others were calculating like that, I would earn zero or close to it for USA sales (tax withholding for my country is 30%).
It amazes me how stubborn they are or simply don't care.

I'd say it is probably dishonesty/cheating if they do that as well.

Interesting. Watched the video -this isn't as "good" as I thought it was.
Unless I am missing something - it doesn't appear to be much better than the 1990's "morphing" technology (basically, you would input two images, and could "morph" between the pages).
This appears to be something very similar, albeit a little bit better.
Now - while this is possible right now (although a lot more work) - it would be an entirely different thing to "design" your own face, that you can then get to walk about a scene and interact with you.

Or it could be that real world denial of "people can't afford as much as they use to" kind of slap in the face reality. Its like this all over. Its like things or do you by food or medication or bills? Most of the time trying to make a decent living is like chasing a water fall. I really wish it wasn't.
interesting theory - but I think people who buy images/videos tend to be in a market where they will at the very least get their money back, if not double, triple, or 10x it... you don't have people "casually"/for fun purchasing images/videos because they want to hang it on their wall. People who purchase it are using it for business purposes to make more money.

Oh thanks, I begged for anyone the SS forum to review their OSMO, especially one guy who said he was buying one in Dec. and if the least problem is focus pumping, NO WAY, I'd never want one. I could put up with less than perfect and small issues, but if it's like the Nikon Keymission 80 which I owned and sold because it had focus pumping or racking or whatever other names it might be, like searching and inconsistent, I don't want one.
Yes, feel free to ask me any questions... I like it because it is super compact - but I've found there are only really specific types of shots I can take with it otherwise I get the focus pumping... They recently did add AFS (as opposed to AFC - which caused the pumping) - but then - although now I no longer got the pumping - I found I was getting blurry shots... I also found that (ironically) even though it is/was supposed to be a stablizer - if I was holding it in my hand and a subject was relatively close to me (i.e., say 10-15 feet away) - the subject would 'bounce' up and down unless I put the 'stabilizer' on an even surface (aka makeshift tripod)... So, it's really only great for long focus landscape shots/videos, OR - if you want to carry around a super compact camera with you. If you get any subjects walking across your FOV while doing a video, or you do a pan and there are significant variances in distance of objects - you'll get the focus pumping... I found the RemovU (which I may consider repurchasing, even though it is a lot bulkier/larger) - was better at keep a fairly even/consistent shot for pans/etc with different distanced objects. And if I recall correctly - it didn't go haywire as soon as someone walked across your FOV.

That's a big open question. Taking a quick look in the news, looks like some people were whining/attacking them/causing them business problems recently, so it could be that.
- OR - could be a whole bunch of other things:
a) competition b) desirability of your products/seasonability/etc c) market conditions in general d) something else (tech bug/glitch/copycats/etc/etc)
There isn't really a "guarantee" that you will "sell for life" (which I think some people think will happen or the expectations they have). While it is possible to create items that have a long shelf life (a year, several years, maybe even 15-20+ years) - it doesn't mean every item you have will sell like that.
Hope that helps.

Nice dinging watch evanto twist what you found. Why should they answer and give you tax team, instead of just giving the answer? Cheating artists is a regular deal in Microstock.
I'm not sure if it is outright dishonesty by envato to pocket extra cash, or simply an accounting error they've chosen to ignore. "Disclosing" and "Withholding" are two entirely different things. The "gross sale amount" would need to be disclosed, but the withholding tax would be calculated on the "net" payment to the author AFTER envato takes all their commission, fees, etc. "We apply the Royalty Withholding Tax on the Item Price (List Price minus Buyers Fee)."
Very ambiguous statement. The parentheses infer that it is a "net" calculation (which is *should* be) - but the way they calculate it for some authors with withholding tax - they are calculating based on the "gross" item price. I.e., 2x the tax. Hence, the double taxation.
