123RF / Re: 123RF on rise in earnings
« on: May 30, 2013, 15:56 »
I'll say it again... 123RF is top tier.   They'll officially be one of the "Big 4" in four to six months.

123RF is my consistent second place earner and by a large margin. I've seen big increases over the past couple months.

Keywords and category text (and it's size) is important for SEO.

103
Had two sales (3 files) today within 3 minutes of each other. I have the Paypal app on my phone with instant notifications, it's nice to see the cash roll in!  ;D

It's been a great month, I have surpassed by best month ever at Dreamstime with my SY revenue.

Funny... now things are reversed.  My Earnings Summary page shows the total for the number of images the Downloads page had showed me earlier, but the Downloads page shows a much smaller number now.    The Downloads page ALWAYS shows a higher (or same) number of downloads than the Earnings Summary page... I've never seen it show a lower number.  Things are still goofy.

Yep, I spoke too soon. Same thing now on my end.

Symbiostock - General / Re: Symbiostock works.
« on: May 17, 2013, 12:33 »
Something for everyone to consider. Most people are going for the static front page look, emphasizing their photo/vector categories.

Notice that Dave has his blog updates right on the front page. I think this is a great idea. We know that search engines visit pages more often when they have frequent updates to text. It is "assumed" that this carries an SEO advantage, though it is impossible to quantify.

From what I can gather, the majority of my traffic is coming straight from Google to the image pages. I have had over 5,000 unique page views in the last 30 days. Of those, under 400 were my home page.

Buyers are already looking for a specific image when they search Google, they are not searching for another place to search for images.

The majority of the searches that hit my site are people using the words "vector" and "free". That's why I have an very high bounce rate of almost 90%. Most people are looking for free. They hit one of my image pages and find that it is not "free", and they bounce.

I'm wondering if your keywords might have been what set off the "offensive image" warning.

The networking features of Symbiostock are going to be a HUGE advantage over the others.

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Category view issue
« on: May 15, 2013, 10:58 »
Which version of Internet Explorer does he have?
I don't use IE, so I have old version 8 from 2009, and see only one image per page on your site and on mine. I think that IE upgrade should help :)

Ugh, can't we just abolish IE?

Thanks for the help!

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Category view issue
« on: May 15, 2013, 10:40 »
Contacted by a customer who is trying to browse a category of mine that has 118 images. He is only able to view two images per page in the category.

Customer provided screen shot (uploaded below).

I can't duplicate the issue on my end.

First of all... don't think anymore... do it!

Install Wordpress first. Might be as easy as a couple clicks (depending on your host).

After installing WP, install the Symbiostock theme. Available here: http://www.symbiostock.com/

It's all really easy, post here if you have questions.

Canon / Re: It's Here (and I'll never own one) Pre-Order

My current car isn't worth that much.

Your file is high on the first page of results for the search term "crowns". That is a pretty awesome result, especially with over 800 pages of results for that term.

From my experience, if a new file gets several sales right away, it has a pretty good chance of making it towards the top of the popular search.

It's likely that you had great timing, and great luck when you uploaded that design... as well as a well designed desirable image.

« on: May 13, 2013, 15:25 »
Hi All,

Just wanted to concur with everyone here my ShutterStock sales that have been solid ( within $100 a month for years, averaging about $1400-$1500 a month )  have taken a dramatic drop for the first time ever this month, sad to see the best of Micro following the pack. ShutterStock was the one micro agency that gave me hope in this model of stock, now ...they can talk about adjustments but this one was a doozie.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Thanks Jonathan!  you just underlined it all. :)

Yes, he underlined that sales for many people are down.  That settles it.

You are trying to hard; to not be invested in some way stockmarketer.

Aren't we all "invested in some way"?

Zip, zilch, zero, nada.

3 sales so far this week, which makes 5 total for me.

If are thinking about starting a site, do it. It works.

This is just the beginning.

Leo has developed a fantastic product.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: Wideangle for canon
« on: May 09, 2013, 09:51 »
I picked up an "ultra" wide Tokina 11-16 a couple years ago and I'm surprised how often it has been by lens of choice. Very sharp and fast.

The admin account you'd give me is leo[at]symbiostock.com.

In the meantime, if ever stuff like this happens just resize the image and send it to the customer letting them know its a new system.

The customer has already been taken care of, thanks Leo.

You're still set up as an admin on my site. I'll send you a PM with the details.

"UPDATE: It appears Adobe will still offer perpetual licenses (also see video below where the Creative Cloud is touted "as an option," not the de facto way of procuring Adobe software). They're just down playing it in order to push their Creative Cloud offerings."

Check the date on that article.

I'm already a member of the "Creative Cloud" and I think it's great.

Shutterstock.com / Re: When is an image a bestseller?
« on: May 03, 2013, 13:36 »
I had seen someone post at one time that an image on the best selling list is probably selling 15+ times a day. I have no idea how accurate that is.

124

I wonder how "woman vacuuming sky on top of hay bale" images are selling these days?

Might be a good niche to explore.

GLStock / Re: Sales anyone?
« on: May 03, 2013, 08:22 »
but i still don't understand why the google images search will affect them that much?

To my understand, if those people will steal the image and they won't buy it at all.

Like they steal the image for their own usage, but if a designer works for a company the designer won't care about spending time to look for a free image and save the money for the company.

I also see a big drop in GL, which i don't understand it.

Google changed up the image search so that the same image wouldn't appear more than once in the search results. You used to see the same image several times in the results, now it is likely to appear only once, usually from the site where it was indexed first or the site that Google deems more important.

You used to see the same image from SS, DT, 123, GL, and others in the results, now it may only appear from one of those agencies. GL typically isn't one of them.

Google image search is a blessing and a curse. While it's a great way for ignorant people to steal images, it's also a great way for people to find the image they want to buy. Google image search is very important to us microstockers.
