Is this new? or has it been that way since you started?

New today. I updated to the latest version earlier today.

I'll be able to try on another machine in the morning.

227
Downloaded and updated. Still have the error.

228
This could totally be my issue, but I thought I'd share....

Since updating earlier today, when I go to upload images from within wp-admin I get this error:

"You browser doesn't have Flash, Silverlight, Gears, BrowserPlus or HTML5 support."

Worked fine on this PC before today. Get the same error in multiple browsers.

Plus first sale at StockFresh, so I guess that is another BME.  ;D

This is what I decided to go with...

Today is a special day! We've started incrementing version numbers. 1.1.1 is where we start.

3/30/13 - updated testing theme - please download - fixed categories to show child/parent relationships and no bugs plus some other things I can't remember.

Yay, categories look great.

233
I've had a reseller account with HostGator for years. No major issues for me.

234
Thats correct. The URL is a biggie in search relevance. The ?variable=value&somethingelse=whatever is baaad

Thanks Leo!

I looked at your site - are you sure you clicked that option under Settings Permalinks to select Post name as the naming format for each post? I don't think the images should be named in the way they are on your site. If you mouse over the image on this site: http://www.photomining.com/q/?image=chalcopyrite-mineral-sample-with-gold-and-copper-with-pyrite you get the full title in the jpg name.

Screen shot below of my permalink settings.

Ugh, if this is wrong I have a feeling I have to start over.  :(

Wait - if you have a keyword "new zealand" it should work - case insensitive. If you have "new" "zealand" that should also work.

If not, I'll check into it.

Soon search results will display all title and description stuff excluding stopwords. It will be case-insensitive and get parts of words too. So if you have wonderbread as a keyword "bread" will show up. Easy stuff...just annoying and time consuming to write queries.

If you check out my site at www.clipartillustration.com thats how it works.

Hey, aren't you supposed to be on vacation?

Some minor problems with categories - I add 3 children to Transport, but when I list them later from 'Image Categories' it inserts them randomly and doesnt show them as children:

   Concepts (0)
  Traffic (0)
  Food | Drink (0)
  Health (0)
  Trucks & Cars (0)
  Events (0)
  Landscape (0)
  Miscellaneous (0)
  Nature (0)

also, it displays the slug when you click on a category:

http://www.buydigpix.com/cascoly/image-categories/

click on Hot Air Balloons & you get:
Images in category: "Hotairballoons"

-----------------------
would be nice to have a (default?) option for users to see only categories with > 0 images, so we can create categories that may not immediately have images in them

Child categories don't work... yet.

You can edit the slug on your category to be whatever you want. Just go into the category list under 'RF Images' and rollover your category and click 'edit'.

I can't test this myself as image processing isnt working yet for me, but does the new file name of the image (which comes from the title I understand) also have "stock-photo" added to it? I notice that most of the images from the agencies have "stock-photo-your-image-title-here.jpg"

Should I add that manually?

Steve

It appears that the image is renamed to a number and the words "royalty-free-content" are added to the preview file name.

Am I correct to assume that Symbio utilizes the WordPress search?

A Google search of "WordPress search sucks" brings a lot of results of articles on how to improve the search function.

It looks like keyword phrases don't work either. An image with a keyword phrase of "farmers market" does not get found when searching for "farmers", "market" or "farmers market". After updating that image with the single keywords of "farmers" and "market", it still does not get found when searching those keywords UNLESS you also remove the two word keyword phrase of "farmers market".

I haven't found quite that. If I search on new zealand I get images with the two separate keywords, whether or not they have the two word version. Putting double quotes round the words in the box gives a search on "\\\"new Zealand\\\"" which matches nothing!

Certainly we'll need some improvements to the search for the future.

Try adding the keyword phrase "new zealand" to an image and see what you get for results.

242
Not sure if this is possible, but this is the "wish" list right?

- An Extended License option

- Titles included in image search

- User defined default image keywords ( I know... not likely ;) )

- Image sort options

It appears that titles don't get searched. It also looks like the search is VERY picky - exact match only.

For example, the search for "farm", doesn't return a result for an image with the keyword of "farmer".

Final Update:

I have been communicating with the owner of the restaurant and we found a good solution.

I'm drafting a quick letter that gives them permission to use this image as their logo (not copyrights, just use of the image).

In return, the owner has donated $100 USD to a charity bicycle ride that I do every year to support the MS Society. Warm fuzzies for all involved (except the so-called "designer" that claimed my work as their own).

Now on to the next one... A food truck in Memphis is using my work as their logo, but even more irritating is the graphic designer that features that work on their portfolio.  :o

My site is starting to take shape. There is a lot of work to do yet.

Technically, it's live. I have started linking to the site in a few areas. I want Google to index it asap.

I have plans to add quite a bit more content (not just images for sale). I'm holding off on doing much customization to the site at this point.

Whenever that first sale happens, it will probably feel better than any other stock image sale that I've had.

My site: www.stompstock.com

I agree with Tinny, some way to offer an extended license would be great. At this point I'm just going to make it clear in the EULA that if people want to use an image in a way that is not allowed to contact me for pricing.

Shutterstock.com / Re: How often do you get single downloads?
« on: March 29, 2013, 10:29 »
Single image downloads are about 4% of my total earnings.

Combined OD, EL and Singles, about 40% of my total earnings.

There doesn't appear to be any sort of image that is more likely to be sold as a sub or single download.

Symbiostock - Technical Support / Re: Image Upload Issue
« on: March 28, 2013, 09:30 »
I have scaled back the size of my uploads and I don't have the problem anymore. Plus, smaller files is a good thing when you are paying the hosting bill yourself.

I just uploaded a bunch of images, and they were all approved immediately.  ::) ;D

248
Not sure what impact it will have, but I have taken some of my vector designs and reconfigured them a bit (colors, orientation, sizes) to upload to my SymbioStock site. Hopefully, along with Leo's fantastic suggestions above, some of my content will appear in Google image search and direct people to my site instead of the several stock agency sites that already have my content uploaded.

249
Permalinks are set to "post name", changed that yesterday.
