Is anybody actually making more?

See chart below, BS is performing well for me. RPD is down, as expected, but overall earnings are up and up.

I wonder how long it will take for those advertisers to start using that service and how long it'll take for contributors to start seeing activity with this.

I have a Facebook ad account and just tested it. The option for stock photos is not available yet, at least on my end.

I just had this happen with a customer that purchased a vector file.

I'll ask him what browser he was using.

Safari

Devil's advocate here....

What if G---y said offered ridiculous $$$ for www.symbiostock.com, www.symbiostock.info and www.symbiostock.net websites?

What if they offered Leo ridiculous $$$ for the site and code and sent out an update that broke the network?

Just saying... ???

Highly unlikely.

They still wouldn't own the images/content.

You have WAY more than 15 indexed.

Thank you Anita,
No I dont know Google webmaster. I feel a bit stupid, but I dont know how in practise I should do to get my Pictures indexed by Google; I'll read about it to check what I shall do.
Jean

You seem to have a ton of images indexed at Google:
https://www.google.com/search?as_st=y&tbm=isch&as_q=&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&imgsz=&imgar=&imgc=&imgcolor=&imgtype=&cr=&as_sitesearch=stockabily.com&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights=&biw=1843&bih=924&sei=BisNUqBah_usAYfNgaAK

However, if these images were indexed at an agency already, it is likely that your images won't appear in a normal image search on Google. Try searching for your images with your keywords in Google images and see if you rank high in the results. If you find your images, see if any of them are hosted at your site.

I think your keywording could use some work as well.

Example: http://stockabily.com/image/no-entry-forvehicular-traffic-3/

The word "sign" should be in your title, description, and slug (url). I would also include the words "do not enter" as that is what that sign means to me (at least on this side of the pond). Personally, if I wanted to find an image like this, I would do a search for "do not enter sign".

First sale was back in April and have numerous sales since.

Sales were down a bit in July, but August is off to a great start with 11 sold images so far.

My suggestion... don't spend too much time customizing your site and homepage ---> just add great images.

Most of my traffic seems to be coming straight from Google image search. Most of my visitors never even see the home page.

When I create new content, I add it to my Symbiostock site first to allow Google time to index it. After a few days I will upload it to Shutterstock, 123RF... etc.  So far, it seems, that Google prefers to show my content on the image search results from my SY site because it was indexed on my SY site first.

I have also created numerous images that I have only uploaded to my SY site, and several of them have sold!

Thanks again to Leo for making all of this happen!

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock July Payment
« on: August 06, 2013, 11:00 »
I usually get the e-mail regarding the previous months earnings on the first business day of the month. August 1st this month.

Payment is typically a week later.

I noticed http://stompstock.com/ had a decline in sales after an absolutely amazing start. I wondered if this had to do with the addition of widgets. Thats what inspired me.

After a week of no action, I had three sales within a few hours of each other earlier this week. Another customer contacted me for some extended license options which brought in another $130.

Traffic and sales are down a bit, but absolutely nothing to complain about.

I'm going to start another SY site for my photography soon, I'd be willing to try your new "minimal" theme.

I should probably talk to them about that.  :o

July will be my 5 consecutive BME at 123RF.

All other sites have slowed down here in mid-summer, 123RF keeps on rocking.

123RF / Re: Horribly bad watermark
« on: July 19, 2013, 14:23 »
PLEASE 123RF! Your watermark is insufficient.

I just did a Google image search on ONE of my images and found at least a dozen places using it on their sites with the 123RF watermark still on it.

This page has two of my images, watermark intact: http://www.nvhf.org/Indoor-Practice-Facility.html

Something more obvious, maybe even obnoxious, will prevent theft and possibly increase sales.

This a great feature!

Unfortunately, I have a lot of people that have abandoned their purchases.

Might it be possible to add a feature to this plug-in that will automatically e-mail the customer a few hours after the cart is abandoned with a friendly reminder?

67
I have been lucky enough to find a few niches that have not been well represented. Unfortunately, as soon as I have a couple successful files, the copy cats come in.

Even with some themes that are completely saturated I've been able to get a couple files to the top of the popular search. For the most part I attribute that to timing and luck.

Who knows what the future will bring. I doubt you'll see commissions go up anytime soon.

On a somewhat related note... I recommend selling direct by setting up a SymbioStock site.

68
Looking to set up your own web site to sell your stock images direct? I have some great domain names available.

BangStock.com
Pixiza.com
PixRF.com
BuildingPixels.com

Shoot me a message and make me an offer. Easy ownership transfer via GoDaddy.

Logo design services also available.

I can't believe there are still people saying that because Jon's stock is worth so much, and because the company's revenues are up, then we should get our commission raised.  This just shows a fundamental misunderstanding of how business works.

We are suppliers to a company that sells our product.  We're like sellers of widgets to The Store.  If The Store sells 20% more of your widgets this year than they sold the prior year, are you going to raise your per-unit cost to The Store?  Should they voluntarily give you some kind of bonus for selling so many of your products?  Your bonus is the fact that they sold 20% more of your product than the year before!

Oh, but your widgets didn't see a 20% increase in sales in line with The Store's 20% revenue increase?  Then that means customers were buying a wide variety of products, and fewer were buying yours.  Should The Store reward you for that achievement?  If anything, if your product is being bought less frequently in relation to the other widgets, you would lose favor with The Store and maybe be taken from the shelves.  And you think you should get a raise!

Very true and good example. Of course if The Store did sell 20% more of a supplier's product they'd actually be looking for a volume discount the following year. They'd want to pay less for it not more.
That is completely flawed. We are suppliers as well as manufactures. A manufacturer sets the price. What you two are saying is Coca Cola sell their product to Wall Mart and Wall Mart dictates the price Coca Cola can sell it to them for.

That's exactly how Wal-Mart does business.

Congrats to Jon! It's pretty awesome success story.

I'm happy to be able to utilize his creation to sell my creativity.

Shutterstock has made me a very happy thousandaire.

Bigstock.com / Change in image page layout.
« on: June 27, 2013, 10:11 »
Interesting new image page layout.

Some details removed (including number of sales), and 4 rows of "similar" image thumbnails added.

I wish they'd do one of row of similar images from the same artist, just like on SS.

I stand corrected. I'm amazed really. I thought the majority of people were still sitting at home on their 6 year old Dell PC running IE6 and not knowing any different.

Of course they do. Spyware is guaranteed, and in some cases you can get trojans. My computer tech has told me many times that he uses to have to format computers for many custumers, no matter if the had or hadn't anti-virus. Viruses nomally come from porn or from piracy sites. It is his top-seller for repairs.

Wait... there's porn on the internet?  :o
