Canva / Re: How are the earnings going?
« on: January 19, 2019, 08:50 »
Have you checked your previously approved files, they do have an habit of rejecting them.
Nothing got rejected, at least nothing significant.

Canva the new One Dollar Club. Only $1.00 sales that pay us $0.35. Sounds familiar?
No it isn't. $1 sales are for one usage only. $10 sales are their equivalent of regular sales. It would be nice to get those $10 sales more often, but to me it's not rare to see the same file purchased for $1 multiple times in a row. So it's still good.

Btw, Canva is also mine 2nd - 3rd best earner. And if weren't that deal with Getty, it would probably be the clear cut #2.

For the 1st time on this site I see that my earnings declined - they are gradually going down during the last few months. And January doesn't looking great so far either. Hopefully it's just temporary.
Bad. Reviewing very very slow.
I don't mind slow reviewing as long as the earnings are steadily stagnating or going up. This is currently not the case with me - despite the fact that I got new approved files in the past few months, earnings are going down. That's not good.

Looks great. But when you work with a lot of files, especially videos, ftp upload is a must.

Take off the tinfoil hats. Here is a screen shot from my friend's earnings.

I know them from Pond5.

And here's my other friend's ... so not quite $2k.. but still pretty good imo.

https://imgur.com/a/060dwnG
So your supposed friends even gave you screenshots of their earnings? And this is supposed to convince us into anything?

If anything, it only further confirms that this is just a lame act and that you are a gimmick account. With each of your replies (both of your accounts) your case only looks worse.

Congratulations for exposing yourself, I guess. Time for opening a new account(s).

Thread backfired ;D

I don't have anything against the honest, straight-forward promotion, but these pathetic luring attempts are really something else. So it's always good when they fail hard.

@stockman11

I have a couple friends I've made in the stock community that upload there. That's where I got the info.

I think they have the largest portfolios on Motion Array.
In what stock community, Motion Array's? How do you go there and how do you make friends there who would share with you their earnings if you are new? And who just happen to be the contributors with largest pfs.

And if you really have friends there, why don't you ask them all you need to know instead of posting on this forum and sharing with us their earnings?

It's also interesting that you and Motion Array / Eri are active in the same part of the day.

Stockman11: I am not sure where he is getting the $2000. We do not disclose earnings to other sellers. Your statement would make sense if we were trying to add more sellers quickly. We are not. In fact getting into Motion Array is not easy.
You do want more contributors of course, they "just" need to have the premium content. So my statement does have the perfect sense, and you are still under suspicion that you or your team wanted to promote your agency in dishonest way. Your spinning didn't convince anybody into anything...

There wasn't anything like that before, maybe that's something new, unless you maybe registered as a buyer instead as a contributor.

I'm open to establishing the optimal price - the price which will give us the highest earnings. This is why microstock > macrostock. But when agency does that, it at least should have the same criteria for accepting videos as everybody else. Having the lower prices and accepting only premium quality, that's really crossing the line. Everything what sells on other sites should sell even more on MA if they are really as high earner as they claim to be, so that work should be accepted, not rejected or advised to join multiple submitted videos into one (I mean seriously? that can be really annoying). Plus everything else I've said in my previous post.

Hey Guys, first time post. Long time lurker.

Have any of you had success with selling stock footage on Motion Array? https://motionarray.com/browse/stock-video

I've done a little research and found a couple of guys I know that earn over $2000 per month there. I'm not sure about the membership aspect of it, but I guess if your footage has enough downloads you will earn more money than if you sell it a couple of time other traditional sites.

Maybe I'll upload some of my files, and see how it goes.

Any of you upload there? Thoughts?

Thanks,
M
What kind of research? How did you establish $2000 / month, I didn't see that somebody on this forum said that? Or you are just promoting the site in the sneaky way.

btw, I was interested in this site, but not so much anymore because not just that they have low prices, they want only premium quality as well. They want to have the best collection which will also be the cheapest. Very inventive... That's total devaluation.

Plus their earnings are not consistent as they are on other sites - as soon as you stop uploading there is a huge drop-off quickly, so basically you need to work for them like a hamster in the wheel (which is unacceptable, stock income should be passive income).

Plus their upload process is ridiculous - ftping 1 video (without zip) and reading metadata from it should be a must instead of expecting the special treatment from contributors.

And now you can't even see which video got sold or how many sales each video has, and that used to be available.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Frames per Second
« on: January 07, 2019, 14:24 »
I don't think higher fps sells the same or more as 30fps, same case as with 4k comparing to full HD. Reasonable file size is probably important thing to most buyers, and full HD 30fps provides good quality and not too big files. Higher quality than that is rarely needed.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Microstock News / Re: Onepixel stock new agency????Help
« on: January 06, 2019, 08:01 »
Some people simply don't get that the long term is way better and more important than the short term. With the long term, you get way more money. You can live from that money.

"I want the money now, f*ck the consequences" is ridiculously stupid, short-sighted mentality. It doesn't pay off in the long term. Ironically, people with that mentality think they are smart and everybody else stupid.

Why there isn't ability to give minuses on this forum? Some people sometimes really deserve a bunch of them.

I guess I am the odd man out , but I have images on Onepixel. I get sells almost everyday and now have got some EL sales which are 28.00 each. Maybe I get screwed down the road but for now a sale is a sale.
Unless you are a low earner who really needs additional income, and if you are not hired by them to market them on the forum and if you are telling the truth, I must say you are making a big mistake. We NEED to send the strong message to all the existing and the new, upcoming agencies, that devaluation, especially double devaluation (premium quality for the lowest prices) is unacceptable. Nobody should be able to build their business by exploiting us.

Imagine Onepixel getting to the top tier or even middle tier - don't you see how catastrophic that would be to all of us, you included, in the long term? Because every other agency would probably follow - why not lowering the % if contributors are not resisting? And then lowering prices in order to compete. Idk about you, but there are a lot of us who intend to keep living from this, so letting agencies to exploit us really isn't an option.

Since almost nobody from the premium contributors supported this site (which is good), maybe they'll set their bar lower and start inviting almost anybody. And if that doesn't show results either, maybe they'll try to lure people by increasing prices and percentage. Even if they do that, they've proven they are not reliable and that they'll reduce % as soon as they think it's safe for them. So hopefully they will never be supported by contributors.

Phone companies are developing computational photography, which means taking multiple photos with different exposures and baking them into the final image, plus reducing noise. Computational photography is advancing faster than sensors, which is why phone cameras are advancing faster than DLSRs these days. Computational photography as an option on DLSRs would be definitely cool.

According to what can be found on google and youtube, Google Pixel 2 and 3 and maybe iPhone XS are probably the best for point and shoot photography. LG V30 and V40 are also up there if you prefer manual controls and if you don't mind lack of image stabilization.

I guess we can conclude that the new high-end phones definitely provide good enough quality for microstock. But what about sales? Is there a significant demand for higher resolution and quality or mobile photography is good enough for most of the buyers?

That "computational photography" is a fancy name for what we can already do in Photoshop, since quite a while, actually: stacking photos as smart objects, followed by a lossless noise reduction, using the median function.
True, smartphones do it internally with minimal lag between burst shots, but when using the same technique with a big sensor camera, the results are far superior!
Of course, there is no mystique in computational photography, it's all about processing data. I would say however that baking multiple photos with various exposures can have it's advantages over taking only one photo with one exposure which you process latter, maybe not right now, maybe not soon, but there is no doubt that the progress of computational photography will continue over the years. There are already mentions of AI which is supposed to further reduce noise and estimate what should be in each pixel, and maybe even enable increasing resolution. Only downside of this is that more computing means more CGI and less "real" photo. I guess some people will debate on this subject.

No doubt that big sensor cameras are far superior, and they will always be when it comes to the "real" photo with more details, but if point and shoot mobile phones are more than good enough, carrying big camera and lens(es) plus using manual mode plus processing latter on the computer makes sense only when you have a good artistic or other reason.

can I just add :  it's a DSLR   (Digital Single Lens Reflex)   NOT a a DLSR !!

If ur having a problem with that,  then I suggest U stick with ur phone cam ;)
Sure, it's DSLR. But was your "witty" remark necessary? If you came to any conclusion about me based on typos on the forum that says more about you than about me.

Newbie Discussion / Re: How do I "clean image" before uploading it

They could easily see whatever they want from metadata automatically only if they wanted to. And maybe they do want to, but probably only to track stats. They are interested in making money, and punishing some good sellers because of software would be like shooting themselves in the foot. And pushing all contributors to buy their software in any way would be counterproductive and unethical. So I guess they'll keep it clean.

Well they'll give you a 1 year subscription to the full suite of Creative Cloud if you earn/work hard enough, so I think the incentive to use their software is already there. Whatever software you use to reach that milestone is up to you, but free CC for a year would make anyone jump ship I think.
Not anyone, because:
1. after 1 year you need to pay, and there are some cheaper solutions, so if you don't want to pay more why would you mess with your workflow only for a year?
2. not everybody switched to Windows 10

So the important thing is that this is just a promotion, not a pressure, and will you use their giveaway or not is completely optional.

I really can't see them punishing you for using other software, nor can I imagine they would take the time to bother checking the metadata.

This is about using mobile phones for microstock instead of DSLRs, and submitting pics and videos taken by phone to all the main stock sites, not just to the sites specialized for mobile photography. So I wasn't sure where to post this - if GSD isn't considered good, somebody put this topic where it belongs the most.

Of course, DSLR is always going to provide higher quality and more possibilities than the best mobile phone camera because of more glass and larger sensor. But are the mobile phones of today good enough for microstock? If yes, then why don't invest in Google Pixel 2 or 3 (or whatever phone is the best or good enough for microstock) instead of investing in more expensive equipment, especially if you take into account that higher res and quality maybe doesn't sell more? It's also easier and more practical to take the phone with you wherever you go, plus it has a nice big screen.

Did anyone used Google Pixel or other phone successfully for producing images and videos which are accepted everywhere and which sell? And how are the sales comparing to the content produced with DSLRs?

99
Credit system or not, having live sales and stats is a must. The values can be adjusted latter if needed. The system has to be live and automatic. All other sites are live and automatic so there are no excuses.

It's laughable that we have to wait 20th of the month. I mean we do live in the 2nd decade of the 21st century, and the 3rd one is getting nearer.
