Steve-oh - I think it is hard to read into the statistics but you may be correct.  it would have been more beneficial if they provided separate results for macro and micro photags.

They are two different markets so combining them doesn't make sence (like combining the sales statistics of fiat and ferrari - same overal company but sales volumes and prices differ completely)  Will be interesting to see if they do a better job in the actual magazine.

127
Total micro income was just under $4000 but almost 60% earned less then $1000. It would have been interesting to see what the other %40 averaged.
It would be interesting to see the income broken down by percentiles (ie. bottem 10% earned X, top 10% earned X)

128
I am not sure why PDN put that statistic in as that is not what microstock is about.

Macro stock is about earnings per DL.

Microstock is about volume  and earnings per month.

My guess is they put it in so the macro people can say "micro pays less than $1 per photo".  We know that but we also know that volumn is alot higher than macro so that it evens out.

My guess is he will buy one subscription and do 750 photos.  He is probably doing a one off project (like a childrens book/ language lesson) so going online each day for a month will probably be worth it for him.

EDIT: Forgot to add, no lightbox at shutterstock?? so he is in a sense creating his own lightbox so he can do the 25 uploads very quickly.

Why doesn't he just do a search?  Must be easier than checking the forum for suggestions.

IS is up and down like a slow elevator. I've never understood what makes it move. April, which was bad on all other sites, was a record month for me at IS, but now it's down again, while most of the others are going up.
Agree.  I am not concerned and I sure next month will be up again.

Camera Raw 4 also works on Elements 5.0.

Does this mean that the raw converter for Elements is that same as for CS3??

I am thinking of upgrading from Elements II and not sure whether to waste my money on CS3 or just go for elements 5 (and maybe get a lens instead ;D )

I assume it is a but (it has happened before).  Amounts are still correct I think.

One sale in 1 year.  Shows up in its own column in the stats section.

Thats what SS says in their Terms of Service:
"... 20% of the income attributable to each unique download actually received by Shutterstock."
So mhow much does the other site take?  I would prefer 20% of the actual sale and for SS and the other site to share the other 80%!

I have ha downloader similar to yours so my comments relate to mine which should be similar.

X ray is fine.  Dide it yesterday in fact.

It dumps the entire contents into a file labelled CF0001.  Net time it will be CF0002.  So no chance of overwriting.

Without knowing the the details to your rant, the question could also be what is the role of the reviewer.

IMO they should only check that there is no noise/ pixilation/logos/copyright/models/out of focus etc that the buyer cant see from a small preview.  Things like colour, the buyer can determine for themselves.

I still think it is short sighted of them not to offer per picture sales on a wider scale (from memory that site is more midstock pricing).

I am sure they have a good reason (that is confidential) but it would be good to know what it is.

I'm curious because I never get any responses. Perhaps this is the wrong
forum to post photoshop tutorials? Does anyone one even look at them?
I haven't read this recent lot as I am not doing any photoshoping at the moment (other things to do).

In the past you tutorials have always been full versions of photoshop and you always use a trick that isn't avaliable in PSE2.  I find them helpful but dont have time at the moment.

Adobe Stock / Re: What's your rank?
« on: May 23, 2007, 05:18 »
Similar stats to epixx.

Note that ranking is on $, not DL so those with high EL sales (of XL sales etc) will rank better than those with the same number of sales but at a small size.

Not that offer the script though I am sure a pro could figure it out.

I am also investigating another option at the moment which I will get back to you all on if it works out.

« on: May 23, 2007, 01:25 »
@CJPhoto - Second, it doesn't really protect you. Real hackers or undesirables are going to use things other than cookies and temp files to get your information. They're going to use a keylogger and  screen capture software that the U3 software can't/doesn't stop.
does the virus cheaker on it not cheak for keyloggers aswell??

I dont use mine much but will probably remove the U3 stuff soon.

Digi - I agree that screen capture looks good and is a lot easier than putting them together in photoshop.

Further to Berryspuns hint, why not put all your photos on a separate page.  Sounds difficult but featurepics gives you the script to do so - My website is still a very rough draft but  it will look like this.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Payments by check
« on: May 22, 2007, 04:38 »
Everyone complains about Paypals conversion rate.  it is really that bad?  Or are they just takin a standard percentage much like mastercard and visa.

Would I get more money if I used Moneybookers?  All I use paypal for is to receive money from the agencies and pay it into my bank account in full each month (the process from requesting to cleaing in my bank accoutn takes about 7working days depending on how long the sites take to pay out).

I think only DSLR and the sony R1 use the larger sensor  (Their is a new Sigma coming out and may the leica rangefinder but these will be expensive).

Other than than, read the article you got that sensor size pic from on DPreview and it says the Fuji is probably the best.
