Photoguy - why dont you reply that the photos you will upload will be different and the the goal of uploading to myloupe is to move away from microstock when it becomes economically viable. (ie. are they fundimentally opposed to it or just opposed for the same images?)
Is the submitting requirements different to Alamy (I have heard that if you do one, you may as well do the other). If I eventually get around to doing Alamy, it would be handy to be able to uplaod the same to myloupe.

oops--hit the wrong stupid button.
At least you can find the "stupid button". I cant find any on my keyboard. I dont do Alamy yet but know of people you just use the bicubic in one step and have no problem with acceptances.

I guess the argument is that if the monitor looks the same as it being printed, and you like that look that is all that matters. If someone else sees colours differently, having them calibrated isn't going to matter as your view and their view will differ.
I guess there are a few counters to this. First, it is probably easier to use a calibrating device to make sure the monitor and the print look the same (i dont how to do it though I dont have a print so that might explain it. Secondly, it gives consistancy between different devices (ie. the buyer and sellers monitor).

You dont get an email. Hover your cursor over the orange dot and it will tell you the reason for the rejection.

Everyone is getting off topic. The question is do highly saturated sell better. I think yes as long as it isn't overdone.
I always try to oversaturate my sky as I think it sells better.
[note: It looks oversaturated on my dell laptop]

I know SS cracked down on public domain shots - I think people were uploading nasa shots which are public domain.
I assuem those are composites and that no one actually went into space for any part of those?

As for 123RF, I'm not looking for the parent corporation (Inmagine), but the actual location of 123RF itself. For some reason I thought that it was located in Europe. Is it really in Hong Kong?
Not sure where the actual work force is (if there are many at all) but I assume it is located in HK as HK only taxes local income (I think). therefore all income from the rest of the world would be tax free. Agree that the locations in NY dont look right for where their servers etc are located.

It is obviously not a rule they stick to, as I don't think that many people get to photograph the earth from space
There shouldnt be any photos of earth from space. Agree though. I would get approval from the agency beforehand on the basis you are not the photographer but you own the copyright. I would probably send them an email with proof and get their approval.

CJ - I thought of a foreign account, I wonder however how expensive fees may be and if there are any restrictions. I understand you are from UK, living in NZ but receiving your payments in a UK account, is it so? Do you have a postal address in UK? Are you a UK citizen? You got it back to front. I am an NZ citizen currently in the UK. Postal address in NZ is my parents where all my NZ mail goes to including my bank account (ie. my bank before I left NZ). The problem would be to find a bank to set up with that offers low/zero fees and will let you do it. I know it is a hassle to set up an account in the UK but they are fee free. they also allow offshore accounts. Kiwirob - I wouldn't recommend you do this to avoid income tax, just as a way to avoid getting ripped of with fees (or transaction taxes). There are more legitimate ways to avoid tax that straight out evasion.

The best match changed again this month. it appears that ratings no longer form such an important part, if at all.

who cares about views. I only care about sales.
It might not be this but at the start, Views were increasing very quickly. I think it was counting the google bots etc as they indexed which isn't a true "view".
I am not also convinced that comments will increase exposure. it has even been noted that on google images, it is referencing info from the "similar images", not the actual images so all comments are doing currently is advertising anothers persons photo.
I will continue to wait for sales to increase. Deceasing the payout will not solve the problem of low sales. Where a lower payment is helpful is where it changes a quarterly payout into a monthly payout (FT), or an annual payout into a quarterly (BS).

or consider an offshore account?? Not sure how hard it would be to set up but if you had an offshore account and credit card, you could use the CC locally and pay it off with the offshore account. there would still be forex conversion but the credit card companies are reasonable.
This is kind of what I do. I dont need the money for day to day living so I get it directed to my home country where I use it to invest for my eventual return. The reason for this is that I send money home anyway so their is no point gonig through multiple exchange rates USD -> GBP -> NZD. I am note avoiding any bank or taxes (just conversion fees).

The review does not cover keywords or categories so you can do this after.
however, i recommend you add keywords into the IPTC data so you dont have to copy and paste in for each site.
That way you just have to review accepted images to check the keywords were picked up correctly and then add categories.

What is good about LO is they are trying to do things differently. if they were just a clone of the others, I wouldn't be so keen to give them a shot.
A lot of what i see in forums is a waste of time (the good thing about this forum is it is mainly just information) rather than games and site issues (i haven't got paid, my photo isn't showing up).

I dont think a new site can give enough incentives to exclusives. NOt until you know they are saleable.
I agree to jump on board early.

You only payout 30%. You have also accepted that you need to build a business and therefore it will cost you at the start.
It should be costing you, not us. Give us an incentive to stay with you.

Just thought I would bump this back to the top. Read an interview with a Corbis guy and he said they would have microstock in the next couple of months. From the working it sounded like they would be starting from scratch. I think the interview can be read on www.bjp-online.com

The problem with uploading away from home is how do you edit them and keyword them first. This pretty much necessitates you use a laptop doens't it.
You can get gimp portable and filezilla portable but that means you need an internet cafe which lets you use USB devices - Some do, some dont.
this is something I am thinking about as I plan to go travelling for about 4 months at the end of the year. My current idea is just to do everything when I get back before I start work again (my holiday after the holiday so to speak).
