Sticker - but did it make a good stock photo???

Elana - on the my Earnings page, how about the photo reference number linking to the photo.  I have no idea what photo number 67865 is (I made up the number but you get the pint).  NO rus but just something for the techies to think about when they think everything is sorted.

Feel sorry for you Tiramisu, but just telling it like it is.

The problems is iStock have lots of photags working for them so if the issue only effects a few, their is no real incentive for them to help you.

Imagine if a supplier of Walmart said they wanted Walmart to change something.  In all likelyhood, they would no longer be a supplier of Walmart unless they had something special.

It is still there on mine but was wondering if that is just because they still applied it where the payout is less than $50, and free after that.

Yes.  I beleive Shutterstock runs a warning system though I think you are allowed 5 per 6 month period.  I have a reasonable reject ratio there and have onlyl had one warngin which was when I submitted a batch that were all rejected for noise.

Not sure about the other sites.

I had one DL on the very first day when I only had 5 photos on the site (I sumbitted the ones that I got my approval on).  Unfortunately now that I have added 80 more, I have no more DL.  Still in my first 24 hours so hopefully it will be a good site.

Cameras / Lenses / Re: What type of camera are you using?
« on: April 07, 2006, 09:15 »
My main camera is a 20D (8mp) which I got last November. I also have an ixus 55 (5mp) p&s which replaced my ixus 500 (5mp) p&s which suffered from a cracked screen.

Currently lens for 20D are:
17-85 is
70-300 is
50mm

I got accepted yesterday and upload about 80 overnight using ftp.  Very simple.  They even approved them before I had looked at them.

only problem I had was some of my keywords didn't upload (they got approved without them!!) which is a problem I have with all the sites.  I think it is an isue with Pixvue which randomly doesn't work sometimes.

StockXpert.com / Do you use categories
« on: April 07, 2006, 05:36 »
Do you use categories and do you think they help with sales.

Surely most people would look view Keywords rather than search via categories.

Especially on StockXpert, ifyou upload via Ftp, the photos can be approved before you even have a time to choose the categories (Some didn't even have keywords where the IPTA data didn't work).

Is it worthwhile going back and putting some in?

On other sites, is it worthwhle putting in as many as possible or just the bare minimum?

Apparently they are meant to be credited the day the CD is sent which while give a weird result as it will relate to prior month sales.

Haven't seen any CD sales myself so cant comment.

Hey, you know what, you can upload photos twice, with different resultions and set your price. A great thing. I have several photos with different resoution and you can make them cheaper then on any other photosite, but also expensive for the high resolution.
I would prefer if they select the photo then the size rather than doing there search and being "spammed" by the same image at different resolutions.  Most sites now have variable pricing for different sizes.

988
admart01 - you get 70% of sale price.

Mine are currently in at $1 but I plan to increase them as sales at the site increase.  there is currenly no distincition between high and low resoluation pictures (ie other sites charge different amounts for the same photo depending on resolution) which is a shame as I would prefer to do say $1 for web quality but say $3 for full resolution.

Leaf - it is still in "Beta" so I assume his focus is on getting the Front end right and will worry about the rear end (sorry - back orifus, oops - back office), stuff later.

Even if some restriction (like 10 per day imposed by some) is implemented, it should still only be a couple of click process.

Lets hope for good thinks given the charity angle fo the site. Not sure if designers will go for it though given the higher price than other micro stocks.

Note: Just read the payout level is only 20 which is only 10 DL.

No problems with the site - it was me being stupid. I was typing in AGREE to the terms and conditions rather than I AGREE.

Where is the tick box when you need it.

EDIT:  I have just uploaded my first photo.  It looks like it will be a time consuming process.  Luckily I didn't get caught by the "I AGREE" trap again but surely they can streamline thinks abit and the us of EXIF/ITPA tags would be usefull.

Click on where does the money go from the home page.  It gives you where the money goes (funnily enough) as well as other stats.

Just found there stats page.

They currently have 2306 photos online with 27 sales.  They have only been active for 36 days.

However, I think they are having issues.  I cant register.  It just comes back to the same page as if I have done something wrong but doesn't say what it is.  I might try again tonight.

Is anyone getting sales??

No point giving profits to charity if there are no profits.

That was only my first full month so maybe it isn't representative.  This month is turning out a bit different.

I definitely see a fall of with shutterstock.  Newest files are the default on any search so if you have an image in a crowded field, it will be on the first page for a while (hence downloads) but will be bumped off and will only be downloaded if they modify the search or go looking through the pages.

I haven't seen any pattern on any of the other sites.

YOu will see from threads like this :

that people upload to more than one.

The only restriction that I am aware of is if you are exclusive or if you mark you image as exclusive.  This increases your royalty % but means legally you cant upload to other sites.

Anyone else with a full month of data.  It is quite interesting to see the % of revenue to determine if it is worthwhile downloading to a site.
