AI Generated Stock Photography / Re: "The Same People"....
« on: April 11, 2024, 08:19 »
Why is it that sometimes the AI tools (I have used Firefly 2.0) seem to generate the "same person" or very similar looking people multiple times? Aren't they trained on some huge number of different images?

I think there are two answers. The AI thinks in a group of data then makes a composite face, based on all input. Just like if you ask for a brown rabbit, and the output looks like every brown rabbit the ai has seen, asking for a pretty lady will look like all of the pretty ladies that the ai has seen. There will be variations, but the main result, starts with the combination of the training.

I see many results that look like famous or popular people in the news. The ai could have been selectively trained more on politicians, actors and actresses. Do you get many that look like Taylor Swift or HR Clinton?

Space aliens are a minority group? Pete was right, you have no sense of humor and can't recognize a joke.

Coming Monday, the 18th. But I thought I'd just jump ahead and start the thread.  ;D

How did you know they were going to be late this month?

« on: March 10, 2024, 06:10 »
Who says the money is in escrow? And if we really owned it DT would have a legal obligation to pay it out if we close our account

The money is owed as payment or commission. Go ask your accountant or read some law. You signed a contract, now you want to change, you must earn $100 to be paid, which means owed money is not payable until you reach $100. If you quit before earning $100, you get nothing.

I tend to agree with Liz.   In my view outstanding balance, be it 1 USD or 99 USD, should be paid out when contributor requests that his account is closed.

You signed a contract when you joined that says otherwise. We can agree what's right and what should be, but you can't blame DT or accuse them of anything illegal.

123RF / Re: 123RF sales stopped.
« on: February 27, 2024, 07:20 »
Hi there!
Do you think it's worth starting your 123rf adventure in 2024? I'm a fairly successful contributor on Adobe Stock where my monthly revenue is between $2,000 and $3,000 and my portfolio is 35k images. I'm wondering if it's worth putting my entire portfolio on 123rf and to start uploading there on a regular basis?

I also noticed that they offer PREMIUM or PREMIUM+PLUS sales - which option is better according to your experience?
No

If you do not need additional $100-$200 than do not submit.
Is that every 5 years? Will 123 be in business in 5 years?

Off Topic / Re: Trump has the rona
« on: February 27, 2024, 07:09 »
Remember, it's only called "gerrymandering" when Republicans do it, even though Democrats invented it in Massachusetts the 1800s.  When Democrats do it, their media lapdogs call it "redistricting". The Dems just rejected a redistricting map in New York, done by a bipartisan committee, because they want more seats and the map was too fair.

If you vote in the US instead of just being a voice from somewhere else, vote out the extremists from either party. Use reason and facts to explain to friends why Trump is the most dangerous man in America. Anger and name calling doesn't do anything except make them more set in their opinion.

« on: February 13, 2024, 07:28 »
Honestly, if "It's a third-party information, so probably I will not be able to provide further details.", I don't believe it.  Why should I believe it?  False accusation is a serious thing.  I don't believe anything without seeing an evidence on my own eyes.

As much as most of us contributors dislike Shutterstock these days, can't accuse anybody without firm evidence.  There are too many of those false accusations/fake news out there on internet.  There's no way for me to investigate this particular case.  So, I don't believe it at all till I see the evidence.  That being said, I think those low sales numbers on Shutterstock are real.  They don't get the best contents for video nor photos.  So, customers are leaving as many contributors left.  The best photos go to Adobe Stock and the best videos go to Pond5.  So it was wise for them to buy Pond5.  And probably was a big pay day for some long time Pond5 employees who might have had a stock option on Pond5.

Third party information without details. Does anyone think we haven't done this test before to see if all were being reported. I thought Lagereek was banned from the forum for life. This is his kind of crap claim. You're right about the TOS and we can't buy our own photos but paying someone to download 1 from 25 different people, to test SS isn't a violation. No evidence no facts.

If you follow fb groups and discord, the 8 weeks seems to mostly affect newbie accounts.

Slowing them down to actually think before they upload is probably a good thing.

Slows down the spammers as well.

Illustration and photos are currently being inspected in my case in about a week, only pngs need 30 days.

That is a very fair review time.

Plusback to over 90% acceptance rate, which is even more important.

Main change - upsize with stability or midjourney directly, less gigapixel use and upload much smaller versions, often 3500*2000

I have a bunch of AI photos in review que for 3 weeks now.  Maybe mass rejection affected my rating?

We have a rating? Where do I find that?

There is no rating to see. Our ranting is imaginary until some one shows it's real. Buyers and reviewers don't see our rank.

I guess I had 3 coincidences 😂 Mat, what are the benefits of top sellers list (other than getting a free PS subscription)?  Can customers see that seller was on that list? What about people who accept our submitted images, do they see that sellers images  are what customers seek?

The main benefit is an increased level of bragging rights. If you make it to that list, it's validation you are doing something right. It means your newer uploads are meeting the needs of customers and are selling well. The moderation team does not see this information, nor do customers.

Thanks,

Mat Hayward

Every topic is a duck thread for Stoker.

There is no relationship with any agency. All agencies provide a platform to distribute your content and in exchange the platform gives you a small royalty and it's always on their terms. All agencies have a unilateral contract. We are all expendable. Those are the facts.
And the only way we can enjoy fair compensation for our work is to unionize. Period. Otherwise, online agencies will always be in control. Either you accept their terms and continue providing them with your images or you don't. That's the world we currently live in. We set-up our own agency and agree to providing OUR agency with images, clips and illustrations and no one else.
You do that, I'll join and be exclusive. Tell me when you have the financing and the system.

It is a known scientific fact that aliens have indeed infiltrated the air space of the planet and further more landed craft on numerous ocassions. You just choose to believe this is not possible despite evidence to the contrary.

If this is a know scientific fact, maybe you can show the evidence?

....
The judges should try themselves to create an image like that.

They would quickly understand how much work and how much human thinking goes into this.

of course it's futile to hope for rational thinking by many US congressfolk & judges. their level of ignorance concerning science and technology is staggering consider  evolution-, vaccine- & climate-deniers

admittedly it was a long time ago -  there's former Senator Ted Stevens, chair of the Senate committee responsible for regulating the internet:

the Internet is not something that you just dump something on. It's not a big truck. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material.

Sounds like Trump and his stupid double talk. But AI is not human and in order to be protected the work has to be made by a human. Remember the monkey that someone tried to claim had rights to a photo. "copyright law only protects 'the fruits of intellectual labor' that 'are founded in the creative powers of the mind.' " That's the law.

Here's the basis hypothesis. They see a light in the sky that they can't identify, it must be space aliens. A extreme leap and conclusion without any basis.

What is coming? When?

You've clearly made up your mind that nothing is coming.

Why won't you tell us?
"Personally I want disclosure or rather full disclosure so that we can put the secrecy to bed and get on with learning what we can. "

You say you know, you won't answer because you don't like us? Where's the full disclosure.

Or maybe it is a commercial opportunity to create a MAGA oriented stock site with only suitable imagery.

Millions of people in the US follow the movement. They could have their own safe stock agency filled with obedient housewives dressed 1950s style and perfect children holding guns even as toddlers.

Freedom of choice and freedom of business.

Then they dont have to complain that looking at the content of international stock agencies is somehow out to get them.

Right off you change the subject and avoid the issue. Men do not belong in women's locker rooms. Men do not have the same bodies as women. https://nypost.com/2023/06/12/trans-cyclist-austin-killips-wins-nc-race-by-5-minutes/
You can dress as you want, think you are happier in another body, or have sex with who you decide. Noone should be allowed stop you. But if you want to know what sex you are, look between your legs. If you had some conversion, look at your birth certificate or your genes. That's real. The rest is a make believe world.

It is unfair to natural born women to have to compete against fake women.

I feel that those who ask for it don't like what they read because the evidence challenging deep-rooted beliefs is often hard to swallow.  ;)

There is that, but these people then need to avoid the internet alltogether...

I do understand if some people are frustrated because they live in dictatorships and even under an alias they fear to speak their mind because somebody might identify them and give them problems at home.

But for others it is inspirational to see that there are places in the world where people are genuinely free to discuss their thoughts, including very controversial and painful issues.

Without discussions issues don't move forward.

And many of us are very active with our causes and also represent them in stock.

Maybe we'd like to read about photography or micro stock and avoid the never ending stream of causes and political views? If I wanted to read politics, I'd go to a forum about politics. LGBTQ+ is politics, you are trying to force acceptance of your personal views and private lifestyle on others. Would you want someone to come and post nothing but bible quotes, their personal religious beliefs, and their religion arguments on this forum. We take photos that are religions, that should be allowed.

Some of the TV shows about these kinds of things are amusing entertainment but that is about it.  The Ancient Aliens guys are interesting because they present some evidence that almost sounds reasonable and is highly believed by the respected "Ancient Astronaut Theorists".

Yes.

A theory is only a theory if it is testable. For example, they can say that aliens built the pyramids, or gave the technology to humans to build them, but because that claim cannot be tested, it is not a theory - its just an opinion.

I don't think theory means what you thinknit does.
String theory.
Darwins theory of evolution.
The theory of everything not My opinion on it.
Her theory was that all children want to learn.
There is no evidence on which to base such a theory.

You have no understand of how science works, especially for someone who claims to have studied. Making claims that something is a UFO, is not a theory, but a statement of fact. Pure conjecture, peer review, there's none. Anyone anywhere can write some claims and fabricate a story and publish that, when it's pseudoscience and UFOs. This is backwards and you don't understand. The system isn't write about some UAP and then demand that someone else prove it's not.

Real science has review of theories and articles and studies, before they can be published, in a journal. Proof is evidence that's collected and repeatable that others can study. The questions are about proving something is true first, before making a claim. All you have is your close minded belief and you block out and deny everything that doesn't fit your personal theory. Real study includes everything in order to balance what is claimed. You only include what fits your theory. That is close minded thinking not what you think is open minded.

Each one needs to be edited to remove the color bar in the lower right. Resizing could be done batch. Still, I haven't seen anything from Open AI that didn't need editing, and people who use the other, still need to edit for size and error's.

Not sure what color bar you are talking about, my AI images don't have any.

Everyone who still claims AI images need some major editing is either lying to keep up the pretense that there is some actual human work involved or is simply using the wrong AI image generator.
Maybe this was true for the first gen Ai generators, but by now they produce perfect results at least 90% of the time.

Perfect results, you're joking.

Cashed out some revenue: what should have been 140, was now $140, which converted to EUR and Paypal fees included, resulted in 125 to my bank account.

A more than 10% decrease in revenue. Thanks Adobe.

Welcome to the club many of us outside the eurozone were part of since the very beginning.

Still, that's different; most other agencies outside Europe never had a payout option, so you accept the $ currency when you sign up, simply because there was no other option.
Fotolia had -accounts from the beginning, so you sign up for that and expect payments for life.

Suddenly Adobe decided to change it unilaterally and practically overnight. It's a disservice and a big middlefinger to all contributors overseas. It's taking away a service that should be standard for any international agency.

This isn't Fotolia anymore. You got a bonus that others didn't, now that's done.

22
Just a warning to all the people who contacted DP and told them to be removed from the revenue share program and were told they were removed: Please double check. I was told I was removed, I had disabled my photos when I was put in the program against my will and yesterday I enabled some photos as a check: They are all IN the revenue share program.
When you go to your dashboard at https://de.depositphotos.com/files.html and look at the columns right after the earnings column there is a column for the revenue share program where it says "yes" or "no" and it says "yes" for all my files.
So pay attention to this in case DP lied to you or just put you right back in as they did with me.

 :-\

DP is known for lying.

You all keep making the same arguments while completely confusing  simple technology with AI. these are two completely different things. Technology itself was never a threat to humaity or creativity. AI can replace almost everything that makes humans human, espect for the biological part.

AWB, auto focus, auto exposure, auto ISO, programming, the only part a human has to do is push the button. No film, no processing, a digital photo can be edited down to pixels. Auto levels, color correction, sharpen or blur, much more including making parts that never existed, shadows and lighting. Digital images can replace almost everything that makes a human taking photo.

Who cares any more?

People who still make decenet money from SS? For most contributors here, according to the monthly poll, SS ist still the second best earner.

One of the first things to take into account in surveys is that the sample they primarily represent is "people who participated in the survey."

True, though in this case this doesn't change the answer? Question was "who cares?". Answer is: People who still make money with SS.  And if you assume that this is just "people who participated in the survey" then even that doesn't change that among these people there are still people who make money with SS and therefore, most likely, still care.

SS is 1/3rd of what it used to be. That could be how much we have lost or who takes the survey. The numbers become meaningless if the people who make more for past years, stopped taking the survey because they stopped coming to the forum. It's only 50-60 people who take the survey.
