Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Stock Creative Cloud Bonus Program
« on: October 29, 2019, 23:54 »
Hi Mat I received a quote last year December Ive not used it yet and tried this morning but it told me its expired. Ive never used the code before.

Maybe I'm being too impatient but I wanted to ask. I had my last batch of images accepted over a week ago and now have over the 300 required images accepted for 2019. I haven't heard anything from Adobe yet so I was wondering if I need to just be patient and wait longer or if there's anything additional that I need to do.

Thanks!

Bonus codes are sent out in waves and are not issued immediately when you reach the threshold. If you met the requirement, we'll send you a code shortly.

Kind regards,

Mat Hayward

Yes this seems like a get rich quick scheme for the owner of the site. Realistically its all about the owners and not the contributors.

I tried to upload some photos to them, because they contacted me on IG. But you don't have any account or stats.. you have to rely on them emailing you if get a sale.. and I wouldn't trust that. Haven't had one email and my photos are on the first page of some of the search results.  To me the owner(s) feels like someone trying to get som fast money for themselves by cheating on the contributors, after watching some videos and interviews about the site.

I think the best option for agencies would be to include a opt in tab cos surely you dont want your images duplicated.

Isn't this some sort of partner deal between EyeEm and Alamy? A partner deal gone horribly wrong - if you contribute to both Alamy and EyeEm.

The major problem I see as a contributor to both Alamy and EyeEm is that I am now competing with myself (although given that EyeEm has let Getty butcher the keywords I entered, it's unlikely the EyeEm version will be found!) and an image I took is credited to this mystery person who had nothing to do with it.

My image:

https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-sandstone-cliffs-at-torrey-pines-gliderport-are-covered-in-wildflowers-138626272.html

My image credited to Adam Kuylenstierna and EyeEm

This is just one example. I think everything I have on EyeEm that was selected for the partner collection will be there. I have written to EyeEm to ask them to get the duplicate images eliminated from their uploads to Alamy. If they can't or won't do that, I'll close my account at EyeEm. The Getty sales (the other partner site I know of) are of late not worth much, so it's an easy choice.

Looking at what Alamy has, there are 498,909 photos listed if you click on the contributor name EyeEm:

https://www.alamy.com/search/imageresults.aspx?cid=H22BE9PXG5264F6CH3WVYNJD3HCALQ8QAS39N5HR22GV8EBNZDUCTKKTULL78ZSY&name=EyeEm&st=12&mode=0&comp=1

Most of these say the Photographer is "EyeEm" as well as the contributor name being EyeEm

For the Photographer "Adam Kuylenstierna" you get 278,284 results - all the ones I clicked on showing "EyeEm" as the contributor

https://www.alamy.com/search/imageresults.aspx?pseudoid=%7b1BB2FE65-C1D9-4FAB-9691-F2D61C395690%7d&name=Adam+Kuylenstierna&st=11&mode=0&comp=1

I could solve this by closing my account at EyeEm as it's really not bringing in much any more, but it's just crazy that Alamy didn't weed out duplicates. I knows what they are as the "Similar" photos link shows my photo for the EyeEm photo's similar.

I just got a response from Alamy, "Our contributors are responsible for the content they supply to us and it is their responsibility to ensure any keywords, captions and other accompanying information related to their images are accurate.

As you are aware these images have been supplied to us by EyeEm. As you have an agreement with them and the images may be available through other platforms they will be best placed to address the issue so please reach out to them directly to resolve this issue. This will ensure that the relevant credit is provided on Alamy as well as any other platforms which the images have been made available to."

I would prefer it to show under Eyeem than a individual who is not the photographer.

Me too, I had the same thing.
I contacted EyeEm and they responded it will take some time for the change to appear.
Maybe they initially submit our pics to partners under one EyeEm name and when the process concludes this changes and credits back to our details.
I am still waiting to see when the change happens with my name attributed to my image.

It seems the photographer is someone from Eyeem, they might have submitted the images under that persons name but it doesnt sound right

I found this image on eyeem https://www.alamy.com/sam-jam-session-2017-image269818639.html and just found another one with some other photographers name under the listed name of photographer?
Contact Alamy immediately.

I can definitely see Adobe is growing. We need that one agency that treat contributors fair and that one will see the most growth. I feel at the moment a lot of agencies are playing with contributors share of the revenue in making silly deals like unlimited downloads for x amount.

Thanks for that info.

Derby: usually the credit ones are not that bad hahaha compared to the "istock subs"
Rushay: https://esp.gettyimages.com/ --> content statistics ---> performance --> downloads --> click on the "+" for each picture to know the details
ShadySue: that was truth for me but in SS :(

You can see now in the app and esp which pictures were sold. No statement yet but since you can see how many are subs, getty and credits, you can make a wild guess :p. Good luck

How do I see which ones are subs/Getty? I can only see number of downloads.

General Stock Discussion / Re: DJI Osmo Pocket

i hear u. Need something light though

Semi offtopic answer.

"Don't be a beta tester!"

The last time I bought a "hot" action product was Session 4.
Just to experience the huge price drop afterwards,
just to have 2K instead of next model (session5) 4K
just to realise that a future battery upgrade is hard...
just...
just...

Here is a personal preference. Buy every component individual.
In your case an action camera and a separate gimbal.
You can choose from a variety, low or high price, waterproof or not,
handheld or chest mounted, etc.
If camera fail (or want an upgrade) you can keep the gimbal if satisfied.
If the gimbal fail or crash, you still have the camera to use.
Individual camera gives you the freedom to detach the camera from gimbal
and use whatever accesories you wish to mount in car, glass, bike etc.

:)

General Stock Discussion / Re: Twenty20 tax update
« on: May 03, 2019, 03:59 »
Yes they gave a bonus which was nice and the price per image is similar to the $2 it was minus tax deductions.

Yes i got that too, even in my app it is always showing "subject to applicable royalty withholding tax",

...Ok i understand that, my country does not have a tax treaty with the U.S or Australia, but i get tax deduction on SS only when the customer is also from the U.S, but how does Envato deduct taxes?

I have to say that i earned noticeably more for April but got 40$ withheld for taxes  :(

Same. Buyer from Australia... tax withheld. Not from Australia, no tax withheld. As for the noticeably more... did you read the announcement? They gave a welcome bonus to everyone and have increased the commission rate.

Now that twenty20 belongs to Envato they added new tax implications. I wonder how much will they pay for images now?

Envato acquired Twenty20. I am not sure if their relationship are active but i've been seeing a increase in downloads.

How can it get any worse than  gettyimages?

These people gave my files away for free over 1.3 million times...

I'd say for now I have more faith in twenty20. Whatever you potentially accuse them of, Getty has already done to thousands of producers.

It is not a major player anyway, they are a tiny outfit. They are not going to be the next Shutterstock.

But they have a really lovely gallery system, the most useful I know from any agency.

122
How do you complete multiple releases for a series instead of having to do a release for each photo?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Twenty20
« on: March 03, 2019, 02:14 »
That is awful. Aren't they exclusive too? Better off just doing SS and AS at that rate.

They not exclusive, they changed to a new system where they allocate money to the amount of images use per month and split that with their monthly cost based on your images use. It just sounds like a ripoff to me. Especially when you giving client unlimited downloads. This monthly i basically made the same amount as last month with double the amount of sales as the previous month.

Twenty20 needs to be upfront with us not this user share crap, tell us straight you gonna pay us 25c per image or whatever the case. Sold 19 last month made $27 sold 36 this month made $29.

11 sales, exactly 11 dollars.

Thanks for that info

For an agency? Each may have their own requirements. Since this thread does not mention one by name perhaps ask their (your) support staff?

If it were me and you were speaking about the (a) model release I'd want one that clearly shows the talent. Same for a property or trademark release.

There are also some apps that make it easy which incorporate the talent image into the release itself. I still use the iOS app "Easy Release"
