Canva / Re: More ''Good news'' from Canva :-/
« on: April 26, 2019, 11:26 »
The biggest draw for Canva customers was that it was free and you paid only for what you used. That was the selling point of everyone who recommended it, especially casual users like bloggers, and social media users. I feel like a subscription model will likely drive them away.

Maybe, just maybe, they are updating a part of the site? They did say 1-2 months ago that they are about to update the site "very soon".

That's what I figure. I have a small portfolio there, so I can check my public author page to see if anything's made it through in the meantime.

Update: My stuff's finally in review, with some approved. Some were submitted 2 months ago.

Where are you seeing this?
The page with the files in review is not loading for me as of today.

Same here

Weird. Today, the page is no longer working for me, either.

I upload via WeTransfer and get a receipt when Canva downloads them. Canva downloads, but nothing has been reviewed so far this year.

Thanks for the updates. I haven't submitted anything since February (and those have not been reviewed.) Looks like it's time to try again.

Anyone had any submissions reviewed lately?

Just recived this mail...

Thanks for your patience 🙏
Dear contributors,

In the last few months, our team has been working on a new and improved user interface to better address the many concerns that were shared with us via our contributor survey last December.

The good news is, we'll be rolling out this system and restarting our review of submissions very soon (including all images submitted within the past few months).

But before we get to that, we'd like to share with you another recent revamp that we've been hard at work on: our aesthetics guide.

Our hope is that these visuals will help guide and inspire your upcoming submissions, so that they best reflect the exciting new direction that our photo library will be moving towards.

Kindly reach out if you have any questions. We will be in touch once submissions are officially open again.

Cheers,
Elle

Same. What do you make of their aesthetic guide?

My interpretation is that these are the degrees of quality as perhaps in

sad, horrendous and vexatious

Ha! I do recall asking a Canva rep about some images that had been marked (S) and was told it was just a matter of file size (too big). Probably S is class of simple mistakes or format issues.

Can someone explain what rejected (S),(H) means, thanks

It is a mystery.  I assume S and H stand for Soft and Hard, with Hard meaning don't resubmit and Soft meaning you can resubmit if you fix the problem.  But since they don't tell you a specific reason that is hard to do.  I just ignore them and move on - fortunately they don't happen very often.  Actually I've never had an H before.  The one I really hate is if they send it to the cutout queue, which Lee in the past said might take months, years or never.  I had that happen occasionally a few years ago but have not looked back to see if they ever got cut out - I assume not.

Interesting. Then, what does (V) mean?   ???

Canva / Re: Canva Sales for Multi-Use License

Happy to announce my first EL sale on Canva.

Way late but congrats! I made my first back in December.  :)

Yes, still waiting for a notification of when the review process is back up and running. I had just started with Canva, too, (I'm an illustrator) so I didn't have a large portfolio there to tide me over after the holiday sales.

I wanted to give it some time before investing in another site--and because most other sites are already swimming in content--but this is another good reason to diversify. I'm just not sure which other site would be my best bet. I know the big ones, but the news on here about them doesn't sound too promising and that's mostly from photographers/videographers and folks who have seniority going for them.

Congrats!😁

Canva / Which Upload Service Do You Use for Canva?
« on: September 22, 2018, 17:30 »
Canva has 3 options for how you can upload your work--WeTransfer, FTP, and a shared folder on a cloud drive service. Which one do you use? Have you tried using them all? Is there an appreciable difference between them in regards to response and ease of use?

I liked getting a receipt from WeTransfer when the file had been downloaded, but I currently use a cloud service because it's more organized. However, I might go back to WeTransfer so I can get some kind of an update as to the status of my uploads.

As far as I know, WeTransfer is one of 3 options you can use to upload to Canva. I am currently using a shared folder on my cloud drive service of choice. And, yes, they are going through a backlog of months.

They are going through a backlog--think months not weeks.

I'm new to all this, so I'd very much like to know as well. :)

anywhere from 3 to 6 months out. Some companies can takes months to process while others only weeks.

Thanks! Change of plans for me.

Canva / Advice for Seasonal Art
« on: September 02, 2018, 08:15 »
How far in advance do you start submitting new seasonal art? E.g. is it already too late if I want some pieces up by Halloween? Given the delay for review (it's been over 6 weeks), how do you approach working on your seasonal releases?

Thanks so much for the replies. This will help me set my expectations accordingly. A multi-use sale would be better for the bottomline, but it looks like I can't count on seeing many of those. Which means it comes down to volume.

Hi. I wonder if anyone has any anecdotal info on how well the multi-use license does in sales versus the one-time license? No need for numbers if you don't want to share. I just wondered how it compares. In other words, which price point the buyers find more appealing in your observation.
