I only can speak for my experience. I work with Mac at home and at work, i work for several years in PC then we switch for MAC and i don't think in turn back again.

In my home i heave one iMac with 3 years, Intel C2D with 2,0Ghz and 3GB of RAM. And what did i do with this?
All my work with photos (Photoshop), illustrations with (illustrator), editing video, play Call of duty 4 or Need for speed, surf the web, webdesign (dreamweaver and flash), text some documents (word and exel).

At my work i add some Mac with 7 year and even this macs are good enough to work and to run the late operating system (try that with Vista).

But like someone wrote here, the best is to try with a friend that add Mac or try to visit a Mac store in figure out your self.

I dont wont to start a war here! Yes you will need to have specific software for the mac! Yes you will need to adapt to the new OS that is different from the PC.

But some things are not like some people said! If you have a PC with 2.0 GHz and a MAC with the same processor, the MAC is faster more stable and safe. Evan if add a more power PC, probably the MAC is faster.

The question is, not all people like the blue. One thing i can say, if you switch to MAC you never go back.
The price is all most the same and if you thing in the price of anti-virus, crash, lost of data with virus and OS bugs, you will see that is well spend money on the MAC.

I switch for MAC about 10 years ago and im very happy. My wife as a PC and this week she saw in Media Market a promotion of the Macbook for 699 and guess what...

Im opt in and in my case i have some sells at 0.30$ but i also have some at 1$, 1.5$ 2$ depend the size.

Im not very fan with the subscription model and payments, but in this hard times i prefer to sell some that dont sell nothing.

Crestock.com / Re: Review times at Crestock slowing down?
« on: October 27, 2008, 04:58 »

I've not seen any specific emails about waiting times, but hopefully the waiting times will decrease shortly.

Last week i send crestock a email about the review time! I have illustrations for Halloween pending since 24 of September that i now that is impossible to sell this year! I understand that you have problems and a lot of images to review. But i think that you must have the sensitivity to review specific images that are seasonal first! In my case i must wait until next year to sell this illustrations!

Humm!

50/50 until now!
Tank you for your input.

Maybe this business is like fortune games. Some have luck in certain sites and others is a total waste of time.

Illustration - General / Re: How much can I get from this job ?
« on: September 05, 2008, 10:08 »
Like leaf said, is possible but that depends on you and the quality of your work!
And if you only make illustration you must try IS. Dont have the number of downloads that you have in SS but they pay much better. A normal illustration like the ones you have in SS is 10 credits that means about 2,5$ each. In the long run you will make more money at IS that in SS.

Welcome to this forum ;)

What im about to said is not 100% true. But generally speaking you need larger portfolio to start seeing $$. Is not 100% true because you can earn a lot only with 20 pictures online but this pictures must be 5 start pictures!!! And when i said 5 starts i mean 12 ou 20 starts because the buyer must find them in the middle of 10000 or 20000 great equal pictures. And the 3 companies that you sell are not the ones that make more $$$ (in my case) but for me Dreamstime is the best from the 3.

Try SS or IS, in my case this 2 ones are at the moment the ones that give me more $$.

66
One question! Do you sell your photos in any type of agency like corbis or jupiter?

67
Im not a pro but i think the big difference from macro stock and micro stock is in the payout!! All the other stuff like noise, composition artifacts, etc, you already are aware. And with your equipment (5D if im not wrong) you dont have any problem with the minimum size required :).
Great photos by the way.

Welcome to this forum.

0% and for the first time in one year that i dont reach the minimum payout. Very bad mounth for me :(

Im not against rejections!! But  Jonh you must agreed that Crestock is very good and leave all competition miles back and have 5 start photos or something is wrong! I dont think you leave you competition  miles back because you are not the top sales site! So if you competition sell this type of images why dont you? after all we are all in this for the money!

And if you want that we learn and get better (we also want that) instead of reject and dont give a reason or say something like "out of focus" or "Technical Quality" you must do like istock, they said what is wrong and sometimes they evan email-me with the crop of the problem so we can understand and get better!

One friend that also sells  in crestock also received one rejection the other day with the explanation that was out of focus, the problem is that was not o photo but one vector illustration!!
Can some one explain that?

Why they pay only 25c? Because they need money to buy new screens, glasses and medical inspection for reviewers.

You are totally there  ;)

Like i said i now that the photos are not perfect. But they are not so easy to make. I must hung my self about 30 meters from the floor in several waterfall with the camera wrap with plastic bags because the water. wall in paths that not even the sheep walk, swing in frozen rivers with my camera on the back and pass dark tunnels to get there!!

Crestock.com / Rejections and more rejections!!
« on: August 29, 2008, 05:12 »
Im extremely mad with this site "crestock"!
I now that all sites reject and i now that no one like to see is work rejected but is a part of this game!
What make me mad is the fact that this last rejections only occurs in crestock! I upload a batch of 12 images for all the big 6 and they all are approved (istock include that i consider that is the more difficult to pass). If this 6 think that they are good enough why did crestock don accept any? And what make me ever hungry is that is the site were we received only 0,25$ (why did i even upload there if they pay so bad??????)
But crestock rejected all for contrast and focus!!

I also nows that my photos are not the best and i have a lot to learn but...
Dam im hungry! Because im stupid enough to upload there!!!!

Congrats Miklav, great templates!
