General Stock Discussion / Re: Adobe--No sales in (4) Days.

I had unusually good last week and this one started slow. I feel that days with higher downloads count might be days with sales from AS partner sites, collected in few days.

I am around 200th for the week with around 1000dls (don't want to be more specific or discuss portfolio size)

May I know, how do you see the rank?

Dashboard - Timeframe dropdown - This week (or lifetime).

How do I get to see my weekly ranking?  I've changed the stats to weekly and monthly downloads but no ranking appears.  Am I missing something?

Go to dashboard - in left top corner you will see Time Frame dropdown menu - change to "This week".

I shoot video, I don't face these problems.
Some of these sites said their next step is video, Dall-e I think. Just wait.

Canva adds AI too: https://petapixel.com/2022/11/10/canva-adds-a-free-and-unlimited-ai-text-to-image-generator/

Heres the harsh reality; if businesses and brands find an effective way to cut out the middle person (the photographer) they will do it. If its more cost-effective to use AI for generic stock, food, and product photography, then photographers in those fields are likely going to have to look to other avenues for work. Is it fair? No. but its business. As weve seen with automated checkouts, factories powered by robots, and, more recently, the driverless car, the upper echelon of this world is constantly looking to replace humans with tech. As much as we want to shout about our disdain of the direction of society, theres little we can do about it.

What were likely to see is AI replace some [photography disciplines] almost completely stock photography, product photography, food photography are most at risk
You explained it very well. And I believe it will become harsh reality as soon as more users find out about AI and learn how to use it. We'll probably see in the near future.

Adobe is very clever and consistent in how they evolve their products and they have a great relaitionship with their customers. And they give us a fair deal as media producers.

Really? Maybe they have great relationships with customers on social media, but their support never fails to drive me crazy. And I absolutely hate their policy to not sell all their products in all countries through their website, in some countries is only possible to buy from resellers for much higher price. Maybe someone from USA is not aware of that problem, but it really complicates lives of people who want and need to buy their software and live in "wrong" country.

Somehow I feel AI could be a final nail in the microstock coffin.

First killing photographers and illustrators with free images and AI, then designers with Canva, Designer and who knows what else. I can't believe how difficult it's becoming to make a living as creative these days.

Maybe they will announce it at Adobe Max (next week)? So we won't wait too long to see if it was worth it.

Not very important, but I see only 5483 followers in that Instagram account. Anyway, I hope she will win!

I don't know why Adobe should wipe out all competition and make a "total takeover". They are already arrogant enough as industry-standard for designers. They (and all others) should have competition in order to make more effort to create better products or lower prices or create smaller packages of their software and so on. I was reading something about "anti-trust regulations" at links which JoAnn posted yesterday in my "Adobe acquiring Figma" topic and IMO, that's only good way to have "healthy" market competition, which could benefit users instead of suffer because someone has monopol. What's the point if big companies can just buy all competitors they don't like or see them as risk.
But, that's only my opinion, obviously world is functioning differently.

Adobe shares plumeted something like 16% when it happened? (sorry can't find the details right now). But the market really thought they overpaid apparently.

Yeah, I was surprised to see that too, but I don't know much about stock market and economy. So... maybe JoAnn will know better, as she usually does.

Adobe Stock / Re: New Terms of Use
« on: September 21, 2022, 04:23 »
And I believe that Standard and Extended license terms for customers are changed too. I am pretty sure selling on merchandise wasn't allowed at all with Standard license and with Extended license was allowed, but only if our work was modified. Now it basically says it is allowed with Standard license if assets are modified and with Extended license without restrictions.

Well, I don't like that few big companies are able to buy all competition and practically own everything that matters online, forcing their own terms. I think that can't be good for anybody.

But regarding our work, I am wondering is this partially a reason why Adobe needs PNGs? And what will this mean for us? Maybe new market, which is nice, but I am wondering for which price and under what terms, especially when I saw new Terms of Use for contributors today.

Adobe Stock / New Terms of Use

Contributors Agreement: https://wwwimages2.adobe.com/content/dam/cc/en/legal/servicetou/Adobe_Stock_Contributor_Agreement_Addl_Terms_en_US_20220415.pdf

Adobe General Terms, including terms for contributors (if previous link doesn't seem trustworthy): https://www.adobe.com/legal/terms.html

Sounds too familiar and exciting... I have feeling we can expect lower pricing and earnings soon.  :-\ Well, I don't remember old TOS, maybe some of these terms were there too. If someone notices something else interesting, please comment. These terms caught my eye:

"We may modify the Pricing and Payment Details from time to time, including but not limited to updating the categories of Works, updating pricing and payment terms, and directing you to new Pricing and Payment Details for pricing and payment information. You should look at the Pricing and Payment Details regularly. By continuing to submit or upload Works or by not removing Works, you are agreeing to any new Pricing and Payment Details as revised from time to time."

"You may remove any Work from the Website at any time, provided, however, that you do not remove more than 100 items of Work or 10% of the Work, whichever is greater, in any 90-day period without 90 days' prior written notice to Adobe. "

When I was selling at CM, they applied US tax on full amount buyer paid, not just your cut. It was one of main reasons why I stopped uploading there, it irritated me so much. That was couple years ago but it is possible they are still doing it.

122
That's not at all what he said.

No... he said that we can spend our money on CC, among other things. Truly enlightening.

123
Looks that we are not getting bonus for subscription anymore so it doesn't really matter.

124
April will be my best month this year, so if they really changed something, it was in my favor. But nothing lasts forever, I don't dare to be optimistic.

Adobe Stock / Re: Announcing Adobe Stock video subscriptions
« on: March 09, 2022, 13:35 »
More exciting news. The last thing that still provided decent return is gone. I used to upload my videos to Adobe first, see which ones would get traction and only then upload the low earners to SS. Now this is pointless.

Spend a pile of cash for very expensive 3d software and a powerful enough PC, spending hours and sometimes days modeling, texturing, lighting... Then rendering which also takes awhile, then editing, then keywording...
Good effort, here's a buck...

So true. I'm not even uploading some of my rendered illustrations anywhere, because I spent so much time and effort on them, couldn't stand to sell them for couple of cents... and I was learning a lot, hoping that I will get more with animation. Obviously it isn't worth trouble anymore, except maybe for work for clients. Or collecting likes on social media. :P
