To all on this forum. Who is a competitor to Photoshop software. Is their any ?

Affinity Photo. Very good, one time price (not subscription based).

152
Oh gosh... as graphic designer and stock contributor, I get double chills in my spine when I see something like this. I think times for creatives online are quickly getting much worse than ever, without returning back to better times.

153
I had 'added to 5 collections today' notification for one image couple days ago... I disabled my portfolio on June 10. I really hope that just thumbnail remained somewhere and that buying won't be possible

154
I disabled my portfolio last week, maybe even forever. I was already disappointed with majority of subscription sales lately, so looking at 10 cents just helped me to get out of misery, it's relief in some way. My port is not too big, around 1500 images. I am very curious how many images will disappear these days.

The clipping path is removed when a customer downloads the file so that is an irrelevant keyword that can actually lead to frustration for customers that expect it based on the keyword.

I think it's reasonable to assume some customers would still use the word "isolated" or "cut out" if searching for an image featuring an isolated subject. I wouldn't use it as one of my top 10 keywords but still worth adding to the list in my opinion.

-Mat

Nice and clear as always, thank you very much Mat!

I finally got a chance to look at webinar, lot of useful information, thank you!
I am wondering about keywords for isolated images. Right now I am using: "isolated, cut out, work path, clipping path". For me, isolated always meant that image has work path included, but in AS search I see there is filter for isolated images and info: "Isolated assets have subjects appear alone on a solid background." I don't know if AS recognizes isolated images by keywords or with Sensei, AI or whatever.

- I guess that we should include words "isolated" and "cut out" anyway - even if images don't have work path?
- I would like to know if work path still stays in image when customer downloads it? I think I have read somewhere that Shutterstock removes it, I am wondering is it same thing on Adobe Stock. If yes, that would be little less work and less keywords for me. Plus, I don't want to mislead customers.

General - Top Sites / Re: Shutterstock portfolio interface change
« on: December 07, 2019, 05:02 »
OTOH, the photos attached to the two collections seem to be fixed as the very first ones I assigned to each collection. I'd like to be able to change them, too, but don't know how to do that.

Go to Dashboard - Collections - Select image you want for cover so it has checkmark. In bottom left corner you will see blue button "1 file selected" - click on it and choose "Set as collection cover". I had hard time finding that too. :) Then I un-feature that collection and feature it again, because it doesn't seem to update collection cover. Or I didn't wait long enough.

I still don't know how to change collection title, should be easy but I don't know how.

Shutterstock.com / Re: Zero sales of new files
« on: November 15, 2019, 05:00 »
Since I started this thread, just an update - the new files still don't sell at all. It never happened before. Lately I shoot lifestyle with professional models and assistants, big investments, and the last thing I expected was zero sales.
On the other hand the same files are doing great at Adobe and Istock, I really can't figure out what's going on.
To JonBull - I really understand what you are trying to say and I agree whit the most of it and with your plans to move to Eastern countries. But, it is funny how people are never satisfied with what they already have, always being desperate for something that they don't have. Do you now how many eastern world people are dreaming about living in EU and US? Do you see these endless columns of migrants sleeping on the borders of Hungary and Croatia, waiting to sneak in EU for moths, sleeping under plastic tends without food and water? JonBull, people in your country are not doing microstock full time just because the production expenses are high, but because there are plenty other photography jobs  that are paid much more than microstock. In Eastern country a wedding photographer can earn like 500 EUR for a wedding and in Swiss, Austria or wherever you are - you can tell me. Maybe 1500 - 3000 EUR? Not to mention senior portrait, newborn photography, fashion, corporate and industrial, architecture, studio still life, commercials, video. Believe me, the ONLY reason I'm doing microstock full time here in Eastern country - is that I don't have any other serious option. If I were where you are, I would walk away from microstock in a second, I would start a serious photographer's business and I would build a stable reputation in a stable country. So, think twice before you make that big decision.

True. My new files aren't selling at all either, but they are not selling at AS either, so... I don't know what anymore, I was never big earner, but lately whatever I do, it is just getting worse. I was also thinking to invest in models and that would probably be last thing I tried to do for microstosck, but after your post, I am not so sure anymore.

And yes, I am living in Eastern Europe too, thinking of same thing wherever I am reading Jonbull's posts, but I am curiously waiting for him to move to Serbia or wherever and come back kicking and screaming. Young people or moving from Croatia in other EU countries like crazy because they don't see any perspective. I guess it is just worse in other countries.

VPN probably won't work because he still has to give paypal or bank account which are both revealing country where owner is from. But maybe is worth to try.

Adobe Stock / Re: Good bye Adobe Stock from Venezuela.
« on: October 08, 2019, 17:01 »
It's sad this situation, "due to the recent Presidential Executive Order in the United States (Executive Order 13884) regarding activities with the government of Venezuela, Adobe is no longer permitted to provide you with access to software and services, or to make your Works available to customers."

I'm Very sad ! :'( :'( :'(
Wow! I'm so sorry! I am not much into politics so I don't know what exactly is going on, but I hate to see "small" people get hurt because of political games or whatever. I also wonder how will designers work there if they can't get Adobe software at all.

Great, finally some good news which applies to me too. Maybe I find motivation to start uploading again.

My vote for free software for illustrators too. But Adobe is very stubborn with illogical and discriminatory policies, so frankly I would be surprised if it really happens.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Alamy - is it worth it?
« on: September 06, 2019, 16:11 »

@medveh. I submit both photos and vectors to Alamy. About 50/50 in terms of content with more vector sales than photos. On average, my vectors sell consistently for about $20 each.

I haven't uploaded any vectors on Alamy, because I saw that price is always 9.99$ (https://www.alamy.com/contributor/how-to-sell-vectors/how-alamy-sell-vectors/?section=6).

And you are selling for 20$... Am I missing something?

General Stock Discussion / Re: Release for Daz models on SS?
« on: August 19, 2019, 18:52 »
I haven't uploaded anything last couple of months... sometimes happened to me, but rarely. You got rejected just for couple of renders or for all of them lately? If it is silhouette, try to upload same image with some lights (not silhouette) as property release, it usually worked for me.

Once I uploaded screenshot of wireframe on AS, they kept asking for model release for one figure :), it worked fine, maybe would be OK for SS too.

Adobe Stock / Re: What's going on with Adobe Stock?
« on: August 06, 2019, 16:42 »
AS web subscription is not available in all countries, maybe not crucial, but probably doesn't help to get more sales. Same thing is with Adobe software, it's really an issue for us in countries geoblocked by Adobe, but nobody cares.

166
True. I don't know why I was thinking that latest change was from some reasonable number to 250.000. I guess my mind blocked 500.000 to stay sane. I apologise.

167
I don't know if it is part of new TOS or I haven't seen that before, now I see that standard license covers print run of 500.000 copies. It was 250.000 if I remember correctly. Same thing is with AS. Well, I guess we won't see any EL sales soon. It's all getting worse so quickly.

And 9.1.  As a Canadian - has this always been the case?  Does a Canadian Company pay me and how do I receive a T-5?

9.1. Relationship. If you reside in the United States, your relationship is with Adobe Systems Incorporated, a United States company. If you reside outside of the United States, your relationship is with Adobe Canada Services Corporation, a Canadian company.

I think it was always Adobe Canada on my PayPal statement.

I have questions about that too. If non-US residents have relationship with Adobe Canada, why are they still taking tax withholding? Isn't that only for companies from USA?

169
If Good News site calculates tax withholding like Envato and Creative market, some contributors might end up with negative account balance! Isn't that exciting?

Haha, yes, good point! With this site - you can ALSO pay taxes for any sales made just like envato does! Ain't that GREAT?!?!?
Amazing! Can't wait to join!

Shutterstock.com / Re: Shutterstock earnings March 16th 2019
« on: March 17, 2019, 00:18 »
SS posted scheduled maintenance on Saturday on their FB page, it might be reason why sales are unusually low. In beginning of week they posted issues with site and my sales were awful, but I am not big earner anyway.

Adobe Stock / Re: Big problem with keywords.
« on: March 14, 2019, 06:22 »
It happened to me just for one image and I noticed that before I hit Submit button. I am always saving keywords in Photoshop, but for that image all my keywords were replaced with others. Later I randomly checked previously submitted images, looks it hasn't happened before.

Creative Market does exactly same thing with tax withholding, that's one of reasons why I removed most of my work from there. If SS, AS and others were calculating like that, I would earn zero or close to it for USA sales (tax withholding for my country is 30%).

It amazes me how stubborn they are or simply don't care.

I have a different experience. I'm experiencing growing sales. I guess it depends on your niche and the demand for your work. So it's not fair to solely blame Adobe for your loss of earnings, let alone compare it to a robbery.

Yep, I am the one to blame. I am aware it is hard to understand somebody when it doesn't hurt you.

I agree that robbery might sound harsh, it was only thing that came to my mind for comparison.
