I typed "generative AI" in search and it returned around 1.300.000 images, I guess it is actual data (there is even more because not all them are tagged with generative AI). It might be 0.1%, but it was uploaded in very short time unlike other billion images. About flooding everything else, see for example pizza images, sorted by most recent. Many images on first page are generative AI, even if it wasn't written in title and keywords:

I don't understand the point; there was trillion of pizzas even before the AI images production.
Complaint about AI is useless, it's here to stay and it will be more and more used in the future, with higher performance. Do you think you can stop this?
Or do you prefer SS that cut out contributors, preventing us to use AI, while at the same time they give clients DIY system that will not give anything to contributors?

I am frustrated because it is getting harder than usual for new images to be noticed. And I think AI is unfair competition because million images can be produced very quickly. That's all. I am just expressing my opinion, I have learned by now that I can't change anything.

Well, there is already more than million AI images so people are obviously uploading like crazy. I don't know why is Adobe letting this to happen, it buried everything else in search.

79
As a designer and a contributor, I am delighted. What an disgusting time.

Maybe he is upset because the stock agencies are coming after him to legally license the content.

He seems beyond naive when it comes to copyright.

If he scraped the entire internet and then charges people to use his ai he is a true hypocrit.

Yeah, same thing came to my mind, that he is upset at Getty coming after him, plus more users/buyers = more possible copyright problems, lawsuits and so on. And yes, definitely it is hypocritical, if he thinks it wasn't necessary to pay artists for using their images, then everything created with AI should also be free or at least available for personal use only.

@Lina

I doubt mj can restricting usage terms like dont sell on stock agencies if mj just stole it all from the internet. They hold no usage right to the training files, so I doubt they can restrict the sale of the remix.

Looks like a feast for Getty Lawyers.

Yeah, that might be possible.

81
Easy. Microstock licenses are similar (at least standard licenses). Buyers can use images commercially for client's work, websites, publications etc. but cannot resell them. Same is with Turbosquid which someone mentioned before. So Midjourney can write something similar in their license. Why would they do or not do that, I don't want to assume right now, considering I haven't found that info anywhere either.

82
AI eventually will replace the photographer, the contributor and the agency. And the customer will get his/her images for free. It is matter of time.

You can already download millions (billions?) of files for free legally from many different platforms.

Why do agencies still exist?
True, but also sales are not even close to what they used to be. It is increasingly getting harder because all these reasons, free images, phone images, lower royalties, higher greed of agencies, now ai and who knows what else.

83
I just hope that the customers could be opt out AI products in the search result  8)

why would they if AI images meet their needs?
And if it doesn't meet their needs? It is already hard to find something specific on stock sites, now on top of that they have to search through thousands of AI images.

as opposed to the millions they already have to wade thru?

why do you assume that AI won'ty supply 'someth ing specific'? and if they don't they are no threat to existing portfolios -- you can't claim AI is replacing traditional and that AI isnt filling a need! (actually, i guess you can claim that,  but it doesnt make much sense)

If buyer thinks he will find something he needs in AI images, he could turn it on, if he doesn't, he could turn it off. Simple as that. I am not claiming AI is replacing traditional, I don't remember saying something like that.

Artists behind a lawsuit against AI: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/pranavdixit/ai-art-generators-lawsuit-stable-diffusion-midjourney

Interesting article explaining how AI works: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/interactive/2022/ai-image-generator/

It will be of course a long legal battle, but the sad side is that nothing is really done to protect artist.
I mean, it's all about money: Getty sue for AI? They will find an agreement, Stable diffusion, Midjourney and Deviantart will pay some money to them. Original authors will receive a kind mail saying that they are the winner, and they will receive... 0,01 cent for every image used.

It's not really an artist war against AI. It's only an economic war to gain some money for agencies, and give cents to authors
True, I agree about agencies, except article I shared is about three artists hiring lawyer and suing AI companies. These artists might represent whole community and just maybe make some change.

they can't represent everyone unless they create a class action suit, which they haven't

OK, they represent other artist's opinions and many artists are celebrating that lawsuit because they are hoping it will change something for everybody.

Checked my billing history with Adobe. In 2021 I was paying about 30/ month for all apps. now it's 51.98! a 70+% increase. LOL I guess we're the frogs that just get dumped straight into the boiling water.

Wow!  :o

Adobe Stock / Re: PNG files on Adobestock - Some Questions
« on: January 18, 2023, 06:13 »
Are Adobe still planning "big things" for their png collection or have they shifted their attention/ resources away to AI now (i.e. doing away with us)? We were told to wait and see and that we wouldn't be disappointed with what they had in mind/ the level of promotion. Havent seen much yet.

PNG files are selling but as you say there doesn't appear to have been any announcement or marketing to customers by Adobe.  Shame and disappointing for those of us who have made the effort to upload.  Adobe did say they might have to wait to achieve 'critical mass' in search results - that might take a long time given that the majority of contributors do not have an existing PNG file collection.

Right? I was expecting a new product that integrates PNGs (maybe Canva like web based design software?) or at least some ads or promotion on the front page and search filters for pngs etc.

They already have product similar to Canva, it is Adobe Express. I tried it few times, couldn't see all AS images there and thought it was weird and missed chance to sell more. But I admit I didn't go much in detail so I might be wrong.

Also, maybe they are waiting for acquisition of Figma to come through. Again, just a guess.

Go to https://account.adobe.com/, maybe then click on "Manage your plans".

Thanks, on the page at that address there is a "redeem a new code by 'date'". I think that's it.

Yes, that's it!

But requirements for 2021. were made in beginning of 2021. Requirements for 2022. were never made and 2022. has ended, so you know, it is not possible for AS to set rules for 2022. anymore and it is not possible for us to meet these rules because they don't exist.

Yes, AS people could theoretically be kind and give us codes because they like us  ;D (and not because they want us to upload, sell, earn money), but I don't think it is very likely.

Adobe Stock / Re: Lifetime Downloads

It seems like that on my phone (43 dls lifetime!), but I think it was normal on computer, can't check right now.

...

No, Adobe is not giving out free subscriptions anymore. ...

how do you know this?
there has been no official announcement about free subscriptions
It is obvious. In previous years they announced rules in beginning of year to motivate us to upload. They didn't do that in 2022. so there were no requirements to meet for getting free subscription.

General Stock Discussion / Re: 3D renders on stock sites
« on: December 13, 2022, 04:58 »
Are there any 3D artists here that sell renders on stock sites?
Can you share your experience, what sells and what doesn't?

I've tested a bunch of different niches and categories, from my experience best selling images are medical / biology / scientific visualizations...
What works for you?

with AI programs do render using apps like  C4D or Blender is not necessary.  You lost your time, learn knew skills!

Sure, nobody needs to know anything anymore, AI will do it all.   ::)

I am generally disappointed with selling renders. Tried some fantasy renders, mockups, interiors, nothing sells well. Sold some interiors, but nothing to brag about.

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe stock keyword mess
« on: December 08, 2022, 10:31 »
Maybe automatic keywords were turned on while uploading and you didn't notice? Sometimes it happens so I copy-paste my own keywords again.

I had hard time to find few of my recent images because so much spam/similar images uploaded, I can't believe Adobe is letting this happen.

Most of my keywords are there, just few missing, but it says "Similar keywords" on buyers side, not "All keywords", so I guess it shows just keywords similar to what I used to search for my image.

What I found weird is that I have keyword "infinity" and on buyers side it is "forever", like it was translated from english to some other language and then back to english with Google translate.
