I tried the 'footage' search and some videos appeared for me as well, the majority were selling for $35 for 1080p but i saw one selling for $60. How bizarre, no search option and different pricing.

Where did you see clips being sold on their site? The search option for videos isn't showing on my end.

Still not seeing video live at DP, hopefully they are re-thinking their commissions :)

I'm non-exclusive at istockvideo and my sales have dropped to the bottom recently. I used to do really well there a couple of years ago but I'm not holding out much hope anymore. Anyone else a suffering non-exclusive there?

I am also feeling the hurt this week with sales at istock. What gets me is their attitude with 'well, our financials are in line with our expectations'. But I always think to myself that if exclusives are complaining then there is definitely something terribly wrong at istock.

My advice would be if you are going to drop exclusivity next year now is the time to start planning. eg. which sites you plan on submitting to, upload processes, is it possible to start uploading now, what prices will you set your files at etc. If i were you i would also have a bit of buffer money in the bank to help ease the change over.

Is it possible that all stock agencies could help you out in terms of legal aid/advice seeing as if the ruling comes out in their favor they could then go after every single other agency out there if they were feeling greedy.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Pond5 Rating as Mid Tier
« on: November 08, 2012, 07:40 »
But it's not walmart, and like i mentioned businesses don't care about a $1 psychological difference, its all about the clip, its quality and if it meets their needs. So it makes no difference if contributors want to try undercut another contributor by $1.

I don't get it when contributors price their content at say $49 as opposed to $50. Most businesses with a budget who buy videos would pay top dollar for the right clip so i doubt the 1 dollar difference for a different clip would make a difference. It's this undercut your fellow contributor mentality which i don't like and make P5 look amateurish it times. In terms of pricing, i like how revostock gives you a choice to set your price but stops contributors from adding silly values.

The lack of urgency to fix these problems is astounding, especially after the recent cull by getty.

« on: October 31, 2012, 15:16 »
Looks like istock is still tanking. I hope I'm wrong but i think October could be even worse than September, at least for me and quite a few others judging by September sales thread.
Again, are you going by the given iStock stats, or are you going by your balance at the bottom of the page and/or the GM script that shows the credit card sales that don't show on your stats?

I'm going by my balance as always, i know what my balance was this time last month and looking at it now it's a disaster. The bug with the stats page is irrelevant unless sales are not showing on my balance as well as the stats? But like i said it's not just me, I'm going by the general responses in the istock forums. Wait for more doom and gloom tomorrow for a month that is supposed to be one of the better months of the year.

I think cobalt has hit the nail on the head there and gives some good advice. Lucato, give it some more time for repeat customers and also to allow yourself to grow in the search engine rankings and im sure you will do very well, and don't rule out video as it can supplement your income.

Unfortunately being non-excluive at istock is a very sad state of affairs. You will get raped on commission, shoved to the back of the search results and be the last to get your photos inspected. And be there problems at istock, expect to be the last on the list of istock's priorities.

You've gotta hand it to istock, in terms of pissing off their contributors at least they're consistent.

There has been a lot of talk about photo sales tanking recently and would like to know how the video side is doing for you all.

I have a relatively small cg port and my sales in istock, fotolia and P5 have all been tanking since the summer began and it doesn't look good for October either. So i was wondering how the rest of you are doing.

Adobe Stock / Price increase for video?
« on: September 26, 2012, 18:14 »
Just sold a video for 75 credits today (1080p). Anyone know when the price went up? Although strangely in the control panel all my 1080p videos are still listed as 50 credits but the page for buyers is showing the newer prices. So what is our commission and where is it displayed?

Small 10 -> 15
Medium 20 -> 30
720p 40 -> 60
1080p 50 -> 75

120
Whoops! my bad. Thanks for the heads up.

General Stock Discussion / Which stock sites have you given up on?

Throughout your time as a microstocker, which sites have you submitted to and then after some time decided to delete your port and close account. And what were your reasons. eg. No sales, poor commission, treated badly etc.

General - Stock Video / Re: Video sales on IS??
« on: September 21, 2012, 15:38 »
Nice to see someone bringing up this subject, i too have been very disgruntled with video sales at istock, but to be fair it appears to be pretty bad all around. However as a fellow non-exclusive it's not just the poor sales performance lately which i am annoyed about it's everything. Review times have gone back to 1 month+ and now the instant purchase feature for a video really does highlight the degree to which we are all getting shafted in terms of commission.

The review team have high standards and will reject for any small reason which in turn forces you to plan, execute and scrutinize your work even harder in order to get it accepted which isn't a bad thing in itself. But then add to that the annoying ftp upload procedure and then on top of that you have to create screenshots of your work to prove that you didn't use any 3rd party plugin preset or what not. This all takes time and it would be nice if you got a fair commission to compensate all the time lost, or at the very least some healthy sales.

And to add insult to injury i will be dropping a level because i didn't earn enough redeemed credits. And because of their RC system I'm well on my way to a pay decrease at the end of the year.

Sigh.

I'm a video contributor with a port of only around 130 videos however sales are fairly consistent each month which is encouraging, and Duncan sounds like a really honest chap.

However, i can't help but think that if us video contributors were pushed further up in the search instead of being lumped at the very back of the search results (heck i'd even be happy if videos were somewhere in the middle) and in addition were given the ability to change thumbnail to represent what the video is about instead of a blank, I'm confident that my sales would be much higher. And course that would mean a higher margin of profit for you as well Duncan as video sells for much more.

At the moment i feel like we are being choked for some reason which i do not know.
