Would something like this pass?

I know they are silhouettes but include more objects...

Or some buttons:

You can try but I dont think they will, you need something original that show your illustration technique to the best.

Adobe Stock / Re: Fotolia Vectors?
« on: March 12, 2008, 13:47 »
I have also just started upload vector files but haven't noticed any increase in uploads at all. It would be great if other sites also accepted svg files because I find it a bit of a hassle doing different formats for different sites. I find that fotolia dosen't read the iptc data so it needs copy and pasting in and also you have to keep the files size under 1mb

I have a 1mbps connection but it can be a bit temperamental!

Nice flash animation, great idea but it loads a little slow for my liking (there is a long time between each picture flying in)

238
Scan stock are not a big earner for me but I tend to get an average of 1 download a day and it is so easy to upload to them its a bit of a no brainier.  As for the review times I dont really worry to much...they seem to be quite fast to me.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Vector Imaging Getting Swamped?
« on: February 27, 2008, 09:54 »
Originality is what it all comes down to.  Anyone can copy someone else, but if you can come up with something clever from your own initiative, you will have an awesome selling image (at least until someone else copies you...)  ;D

Originality is all well and good but it is so hard to make every image you do "new" and "original". I think it is more about taking the ideas that sell and moving it to the next level or coming at it from a new direction. I have people that have copied me before and I am flattered, if they can sell more than me then fine...I will steal the idea back!!!  ;D

99% of the work I do is vector based and like you I had concerns about over supply but I have found as long as you keep uploading (especially on shutterstock) my month on month sales keep increasing (except for december!). The joy of illustration is the only thing that limits you is your mind.

I have been having a really slow time for a while, my relative rank hasn't been higher than 1200 for the last 3 weeks! but I have had a couple of downloads today so maybe the tide has turned!

123RF and bigstock are about the same for me (both in the top 6) but they outsell Fotolia by a long way...quite often 3x

Stick with it, The amount of downloads to portfolio size is a personnel thing. SS and IS will give you a boost. Enjoy what you doing upload as much as you can and the sales will naturally come.

Computer Hardware / Re: What monitor type you're using
« on: February 02, 2008, 03:40 »
I am an Illustrator and have been using LCD screens for about five years now, part of that time within a repro studio and I would say they are more than good enough. The current one I am using is the beautiful imac 24" which I cant fault at all.

General - Stock Video / Flash or video
« on: January 27, 2008, 06:00 »
I have always done mainly Illustrations within the stock industry but now I am looking to diversify into another area. I have narrowed it down to either video or Flash. I was edging towards Flash because of my Illustration background (and because of cost and I have it as part of my adobe suite).

Does anyone do both? do you know how well flash files sell against video?

I am hiding from my girlfriend...she want me to do some diy!

I guess they are cracking down (which I have no problem with) because I just got a "massive keyword spamming" message too. I had a look at the file in question and nothing jumped out at me as being wrong so I took out the ones that are not 100% relevant and resubmitted.

I think it is a good thing that they are tightening up the keyword submissions but sometimes one person might see a word as relevant but another might see the connection as vague. This is the first file I have bumped for this reason...

I think Quality will always prevail over quantity. It dosen't matter how many images you have in your portfolio, the cream will alway rise to the top.

I have noticed a slow down over Christmas my sales dropped to about a third of the normal figures but the back end of January has really picked up and for about a half of the sites I submit to I will have a record month (but sadly not shutterstock).

I agree with the lack of FTP issue, Snapvillage cant be taken seriously until they sort it out.
