Hi, what with those 0.1 sales in SS?

For me iStock has a better rpd than SS. AS is better but my portfolio is very editorial and I'm not a pro so I don't have editorial on AS. (photos)

It was good for me as well but not the best. IStock is becoming my number #1 is that sad?

General - Top Sites / Re: Least Favorite Site to Upload to?
« on: December 22, 2019, 09:11 »
For me it was DT and 123RF, that's why I don't upload to them anymore. BS was VERY buggy and with a lot of problems, so it's a no for me too. iS is a pain in the ass but it works for me so it has to be done :(. So far DP and SS are the easiest.

first sales was $0.35 cents   :-\
Is that considered good or bad these days ?

Depends, do you live in New York City or rural Jakarta?  :)

In order to not perpetuate the misnomer, Jakarta is almost the same size as New York and it has a larger population. I'm not trying to start an argument, although inevitably I probably will, this is msg after all. Just saying there are so many more places way more rural and cheaper to live than the city of Jakarta.  :)
For example Colombia. That's why I do this even if I'm not pro, because with three dollars here I can have a nice lunch.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Adding an agency: Depositphotos?
« on: November 09, 2019, 12:17 »
Depositphotos and Dreamstime are very, very low and slow earners. The good thing about Deposit is that the submission process is very smooth and quick. On the contrary Dreamstime is a drag - very complicated if you want to use all three catagories.
Totally agree.

Newbie Discussion / Re: "Cityscape" KW
« on: November 04, 2019, 15:24 »
Hi:

Non-native English speaker asking for help again.

When do you use the kw "cityscape"? In all your city captions? Just in the panoramic ones? Do you use the kw "landscape" for cities?

When you use the kw "city" do you add the kw "town" too? In Spanish the meaning of these words is different f.i. In Spain we use "city" for villages. When I upload a shot from a city I use to insert both, but maybe "city" is a better option.

Thank you for your answers.

I usually employ them without thinking too much. City, cityscape and town, for any shot related to cities. Altought town is more related to small cities.

The rates are indeed an insult. However, like most of us, I do microstock for a profit, so I have a look at the numbers.

In terms of revenue, IS is the second highest earner. In terms of RPI, it's the first, ex-aequo with SS. In terms of RPD, it fluctuates, but it's usually the second or the third, after Alamy and SS.

So, yes, I have the feeling IS is taking a lot from me, and that the way they treat us is outrageous. However, there are some financial reasons explaining why I'm staying... more or less the same reasons that push me to have a main job where I'm not very well treated...

same for me

Why is anyone still uploading there?

These rates are an insult
It works different for each person. My RPD this month was 0.76. Higher tan SS and AS.

A video save the month lol. Also I have a small section of the pie called "under threshold". What is that? It is not credit, subscription or premium access

For the moment I only uploaded a hundred videos on Istock and zero photo, I should perhaps have started by doing the opposite ... do you think it is better that I stop uploder videos ? Is it so bad compared to other stocks? ok for about 15 dollars for one video but not much less ... on average in any case.

If you feed agencies that sell your work for peanuts you'll lose pontential sales on other agencies that pay you better!!!

I'd love to be on that way, but unfortunately it doesn't work on that way. The client who would buy your image in one particular moment on one exact search result in one particular agency, even will buy this image just because of the conviction in the moment.... this client will never buy your image on other agency searching you and your portfolio, or if yes will be in 1% of the cases.

I agree. I doubt very many buyers will chase individual contributors, as long as they still have enough choices they will stay with the site they like. It's unlikely a mass walk out of contributors will ever happen, D-day was the first and only attempt and it didn't work. For the big sites most buyers won't notice or care if individual contributors are gone. Even when Sean Locke left, I doubt it had any effect on istock's sales. Most buyers will be more interested in the site's prices, special offers and useful site functions than individual contributors.
Who talked about chasing a contributor??!!
It only takes few seconds to search for the same clip on different agencies...it's 2019,most of the buyers shop around...keep open few browser pages type what you need to search and boom, you find the same clip on different agencies...go figure where buyer will buy...
Actually it would be very interesting to know about this ind depth. My guess it's something like 1/4 of the buyers are actually very smart and trying to save more money. The other 3 don't care and want the asset fast and/or from the site they have the subscription

I don't think it's the 1%,but it's not everyone. I think it's more like the 20%...anyway istock is crap but for me it works. At least lore than DP, DT, BS...

I wonder how you keep  submit to istock guys...those reveneus are a joke...
I stopped the upload of new videos. And for photos my RPD is higher than most of sites. It is indeed the highest excluding Adobe Stock and SS.

To rephrase, for you IS has the lowest rpd from these sites.
Yes but others are worseee (less than 0.35)

I hope you find a way. I don't like Maduro but I don't find the US and European embargos useful, which affect people like you. Knowing that the corrupt are a few.
