I've been tapping F5 on my AS dashboard for a week now - still nothing. I can't wait much longer, I have cows to milk and pigs to feed!  :D

Canva / Re: Making Their Own In House Content?
« on: June 30, 2021, 13:23 »
If there's no mention of salary range in the job ad, I wouldn't even bother applying. The salary is probably paid in credits, which can be used to buy images and illustrations through them.

Anybody here brave enough to fill out their job application?

Shutterstock.com / Re: 0.25 USD per footage on SS
« on: June 28, 2021, 13:18 »
The month is not yet ended, and I have over 100 sales of footage at price 0.25 USD. What have I done wrong :)?

And you are happy to sell your footages at that price? That's almost the same as giving them away for free.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Buying photo/video portfolio

Does it ever happen that someone sells an entire portfolio or even part of it? I have never heard of such a thing. An interesting idea, though.

Any minute now an armored van will pull up in front of my house and bring me a bag of money from Adobe, lol...  ;D

31
It's not like, images with less than 4 downloads are bringing you bunch of money, so you can get 5$ for each selected or you can have them sit in your port for free.
Oh, but images with less than 4 downloads on Adobe actually bring me quite a bunch of money....just not on Adobe.

so if they're not selling on AS, why not take the $5?  it's not like most users go to multiple sites

Big companies with a 750 images per month subscription probably won't search for free alternatives as many might not even use up all their images and they have a large budget to begin with. But these are the 0.10$ customers I don't really care about anyways.
What I care about are the smaller customers who have a 10 image subscription plan or even buy images on demand because they actually earn me dollar amounts instead of cents per sale. And someone who is on a tight budget and  has only 5 or 10 images he can download within a month might very likely look for free alternatives.

No chance in hell I am going to ruin some of my bestsellers by offering them for free. If it's worth it for you, then good for you, take the offer. But for me it's a question of "Do you want 500$ for that image or 5$"? And that's not a hard choice for me. I have nominated a few images that don't sell well anywhere. In these cases 5$ is better than 0$. Doubt Adobe will pick them in the end. But I am not going to give away any image that sells regularly for me on other agencies for free for a meager 5$.

No one is selling their best photos. Read Mat's post again: "We will not be accepting any images that received more than 4 downloads in the past 12 months".

32
I'd quit my day job in a heartbeat if I always got $5 for every photo I took. After all, no one here is selling their best photos, only their mediocre ones.

33
I redeemed my code over four months ago and I still have that blue banner on my contributor portal. It's not a problem, but will it ever go away?  :D

The answer to your question is yes. Some day, it will go away. If you send a follow up question asking me when, I will not be able to answer that one. Thanks for your patience!

But, doesn't matter...I give up

No, no, no... You don't give up now. You'll contact Adobe's contributor support again as many times as it takes to sort it out.

34
Adobe would like to buy 160 photos from me that I took ten years ago as an exercise. With my current equipment, I could easily get much better photos with little effort. Without the slightest doubt, I'm more than happy to accept this offer.

Sales have remained the same for a long time, even though I regularly add new photos. I'm more worried that the new photos are selling so poorly.

123RF / Re: 123RF: Images not reviewd for over a month
« on: May 22, 2021, 14:55 »
If I may give my compatriot one piece of advice, forget 123RF. It's not worth it. Try MostPhotos, it works much better for Scandinavian images.

38
I couldn't agree with you more. I am also very disappointed with the future direction of Adobe. I would have thought that at least one big player in this field would have taken us into account. I guess I was wrong. This regional thing is just one more nail in their coffin.

39
This "exciting" new plan has now been published, but is it already in use? I can't find any time-frame on when it will be introduced.

40
Thank you for a very informative post, Pete!

I unsubscribe yesterday.
i had all apps but i was just using it for after effects. I find Davinci real better for editing.
But now I am going to try Fusion. it seems very good,  its free and it's more used here for commercials and movies.
I think there is no point of spending 36,89 a month when i can get better for free now.

starting cut somewhere.
love you too adobe :-)

Capture One on trial here. It seems that now is the right time to stop using Creative Cloud. I certainly won't miss it. Thank you Adobe!

But the original photography was this one by Dominic Kamp: https://www.dominickamp.de/?portfolio=manarola-night

It seems to me that there is no copyright control of the images ...

> 5000 images and tons of copyright infringement ...  :o

This doesn't give a good impression about FAA. D*mn I hate those thieves, they're on every stock/image website. Although some sites do things better and more efficiently than others.

43
Yesterday I started uploading my photos to POD sites and today I started exploring the possibility of selling my photos on book covers. Next month I'll probably be shining shoes on a street corner. Life as a stock photographer is not easy. Adobe just made it even harder.

How can I cancel my subscription so it doesn't renew after a year? When I paid my first annual subscription it said in the terms and conditions that you can cancel your yearly membership fee at any time, but now I can't find where to do that. Do I have to close my credit card because of this? I hate these kinds of fees, which are secretly renewed after a year.
What do you get when you are premium membership? I ask you, because i don't have it. It is worth?

Hi Alexander,

I just opened my account today, so I can't say whether it's worth it to pay for a membership. But at least I can upload more than 25 photos to my portfolio.  :)

I'm trying to find the positive aspects of this, if there are any.
Try "Adobe will make more money"?

That's obvious. Mat willl probably get a fair raise and a decent bonus too. No need to do microstock anymore...

Just joking, Mat is one of the good guys in this business!  :)

47
I appreciate it was Mat who gave us this exciting news, not by a forum moderator as was done on SS. It was a terrible way to announce something so important. That alone shows how much they value their contributors on SS.

I'm trying to find the positive aspects of this, if there are any. Perhaps the number of downloads will increase with this reform?

I might as well stop feeding the beast and give away my entire portfolio for free to Unsplash. It's a sad time we live in.  :'(

You mean you're going to give it away for free to Getty. Nice. Stop feeding the beast but keep feeding the beast anyway for free.

Oh, it's Getty now? I did not know that. We are truly living the beginning of the end...

Not a good place to sell photos in my opinion. No watermarks in the pictures and everyone can see them almost full size. And it's so easy nowadays to enlarge images with Photoshop, Gigapixel AI etc. I certainly wouldn't  upload any of my photos there, at least not any good ones.
