if they are as useful as their peddlers say they are, the reviews will filter through the users, not the peddlers, and word will get out.
Thanks Leaf, I just hope you will be willing to police the situation to make sure no one signs up and abuses other places in the forum for this and they stick to designated area 253
Microstock Services / MicrostockGroup or internet marketplace« on: April 24, 2009, 11:20 »
Its starting to feel like this place is becoming an Internet Marketplace instead of a place where we can share information on microstock and argue about iStock exclusivity.
I don't want to be peppered with photosecrets stupid teleconferences and I would really like it if Leaf could please make a separate area where we can block it from our accounts for those people who want to peddle their 'services' here. And if they break the rules, I would want the post deleted immediately and the user banned from the forum. I'm just suggesting this because I'm very tired of seeing this place become a SecondLife for photographers where its just advertising, not good conversation about the industry - and I'm sure that I'm not the only one. 254

Wow, that routine is getting old. VERY OLD.
I don't know why sites think by having someone post saying this site is great, then having the owner or a representative come to their defense is a good strategy. I'm not going to go to the site because of these poor tactics, because I'm sick of it. 255
iStockPhoto.com / Re: How are the non-exclusives doing under best match 2.0?« on: April 21, 2009, 21:02 »I think I am doing ok. I have 886 images with iStock. 436 downloads in Jan, 427 in Feb, 519 in Mar and 332 so far in april. I am averaging $1.06 per download. To me BM2 does not seem to have an impact either way. It did get a little slower around easter brake but that's all. Denis This is a beautiful response. I think that this is how it should be posted if you want to post that you are doing well/poorly compared to x weeks/months Congrats on doing well so far Denis. 256

And I was at work (day job) so I didn't have much to do. Thats why I've been more active. I prefer to view from a distance in most posts. Given RT's lovely post, I'm just going to add that I'm the type of person that will not give up the keywording even though its a horrible task because it involves access to my personal information. I don't want to give that away. If you find someone willing, thats great, but I'm in the group of people that will never look for such a service. If I was, I would go out and hire a team. Thats my opinion, and I wish you well. 257
iStockPhoto.com / Re: How are the non-exclusives doing under best match 2.0?« on: April 21, 2009, 16:51 »how about some figures to back it up? how about everyone post some figures if they are going to say things are normal. Because seriously, I'm sick of guessing if the post is a legitimate one or something from someone who just wants to post we may all have started with one picture, but when you are still starting and have 40, 60, 100 pics, do you really think that getting one download last week and no downloads this week is a trend? And what some people may scream about, others will just say its normal Those little bars are lovely, but don't tell the story. I'm not the admin, moderator or whatever, but for you to post and have a meaningful post, then say yeah, I'm getting on average 5 more downloads or 3 more dollars per day than pre-best match 2.0 Its not hard. Back up statements with numbers. Its expected everywhere else in the world, why not here? 258

Day 1 was great - but after that its been looking pretty grim. How many images do you have online? I would like to be able to put a figure to comment above. Also, how many downloads do you have? What bothers me the most is someone with 127 images and 42 downloads in an year complain that things are slow. When were they ever fast? Seriously... 261

I don't like when people post 'enthusiastically' with referral in mind. I believe that goes against some written or unwritten code or some standard that this group used to be based on

Same thing as usual, the buyers need to learn to use it and utilize it to their needs. They will figure it out and sales will go back to a 'normal' level. some will gain, others will lose a bit

And contracts are so effective if I get ripped off and the other party runs off to a country with a) no laws, b) not a care for contract law, or c) just somwhere you cannot be found, what is that contract worth?
This is a horrible idea and someone is too lazy to upload their own photos, perhaps you should find some other way to make money. People are complaining they dont' make enough money per download. Add to it overhead of paying someone else to upload, where do you get to keep the money you earn in this business? 264

No one who is serious would do this
No one who isn't serious is going to pay you to upload their photos No one will give you their account and password I don't see where you are going with this 266

You also aren't going to publish crap pictures with horrible white balance. And the idea is to use the camera in situations where noise was a problem before. Maybe an arena, or outside at night, or something else, or something in daylight that needs faster shutterspeeds 268
Shutterstock.com / Re: would I do well on SS?« on: April 17, 2009, 11:12 »
I think you should check whether or not you would have to remove your portfolio because it is uploaded under the exclusivity status first. If not, and you feel like going through the pain of uploading to SS and their horribly subjective review process, go for it. I would stay exclusive and just shoot more. You will be GOLD soon too.

Hey all,
Leaving in 2 weeks for a 2 week trip through Spain starting in Lisbon. Just wanted to know if anyone had any favourite places to photograph in: Lisbon Seville Madrid Mallorca Valencia (will be going to the Arts and Sciences for sure!) and Barcelona for the F1 race I've looked up all the interesting places online, but would like to hear from anyone who's actually been. Hopefully I can pull together a large portfolio of stock worthy images while I'm there too. JG 272
