Software / Adobe Old Software No Longer Legal

Old software no longer legal:
https://dazwallace-wordpress-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/dazwallace.wordpress.com/2019/05/08/the-great-adobe-purge-of-19/amp/?amp_js_v=0.1

So even if you purchased the software outright you are not allowed to use it!

Zero.

A shame. Storyblocks used to be a good earner.

How many exclusive files do you have?

Photography Equipment / Re: The Best Unlimited Cloud Storage?
« on: April 27, 2019, 14:55 »
Thanks for sharing your experience.

For photos I use SmugMug, it's $6 per month unlimited and I like the interface, it's also possible to store unlimited HD video there, but not 4K.

Unfortunately, Seagate constantly crushes... Well, they work for 2-3 years though, but not more :D in my case.

So I'm looking where to store all the 4K stuff online in addition to disks and Jottacloud has a wonderful price, but will they allow tens of terabytes?

Smugmug does not keep your original files. They convert the video to mp4.

FilmHero is more expensive than Storyblocks - and most of us supported them by uploading our footage.

Storyblocks: Unlimited HD or 4K = $198.96 for 1 year. That's $16.58 per month.

Shutterstock: Has an 'Unlimited' for business - no prices.
Pond5: 10 clips a month (HD or 4K) $83.25 per month.

Everyone's already doing it!

Where's the outrage?

56
Not true,  I am living on my stock and Pond5 is not going sub that is why they are going Exclusive! Yes I know I have talked with the owner

Pond 5 already has subs! ! !

57
Forget setting up an exclusive or a dodgy all you can eat subscription library.

Adobe should really shake up the industry and increase contributor royalties.

That would give the Pond5 Exclusive and the Shutterstock $1.50 sales a serious kick in the ass and show everyone (buyers included) just how serious Adobe is at creating a great library.

Hi,

Are there any video submission services that add keywords and submit to agencies for you?

Thanks!

WOW - Despite Videoblocks efforts not to sell my clips (now appearing at end of search). I JUST HAD A SALE! . . . first one this year.

Pond5 / Pond5 Wrong Price
« on: April 09, 2019, 06:16 »
Hi,

I just had a couple of HD $77 sales on Pond5.
I have no clips priced at $77 they are all $79.
The license just says the usual 'Individual License'

Any ideas where the $2 went?
Is this more greedy shenanigans?

Being exclusive with Pond 5 will never make up for the loss of revenue from Shutterstock and Adobe.

Their Exclusive Program is just smoke and mirrors to hide their 20% revenue cut.

I wish all those joining the program best of luck. But I'm out.

All an agency needs to do is give their contributors a royalty raise.
Then the exclusive/non exclusive argument would be a mute point.

The first agency to do such a thing would cause massive waves throughout our industry.

Disagree. Pond5 gave a royalty rate raise right from the beginning offering 50% and most everyone still uploaded everywhere. Even to those places with a MUCH lower royalty rate.

and everyone earned more money with no thoughts of being exclusive!

Adobe Stock / Re: Adobe Terms
« on: April 04, 2019, 13:12 »
I don't think a few people deleting a few thousand clips is anything for Adobe to be worried about.

Well, on the other hand, we really do care about making our contributors successful and would be delighted to have all contributors contribute directly, but want the market to have a choice.  We believe Adobe Stock will continue to grow and evolve to become the #1 destination and that contributing directly will provide the best benefit to you and to our customers.

Make sense?

Thanks,
Dennis

If you really do care about your contributors how about raising their royalty?

That would send massive ripples throughout the stock industry!

It would show just how serious Adobe is.

Below the page with new terms. The important part, the one we suppose read, is embeded in square window which use 10% of available space. Two possibilities:
1. Adobe's web designers are very bad.
2. They don't want us to read terms

I think the answer is both.

Sorry Dennis, just interesting timing. I agree with it anyways as I would be doing the same pond5 or not.

No, I just had to renew it again now it says "62 Managing Your Work. You may remove any of your Work from the Website at any time, provided, however, that you do not remove more than 100 items of Work or 10% of your Work, whichever is greater, in any 90-day period without 90 days' prior written notice to Adobe. We may remove Work or terminate your account at our sole discretion without prior notice."

Definitely a Pond5 reaction!

How can it be a reaction to Pond5 if the 90 day policy has been in place since 2016?

We need a "Let them eat cake" moment and then we can storm the Bastile.
Sadly, that moment is yet to arrive.

Markets don't lie so time will tell if Pond5 made the right move!

Markets can be built on lies and deception.

I do not understand why so many people think Pond5 is so good.
They just grabbed 20% of our revenue.

Well said Mantis.

I have been with Pond5 for many years. I am disappointed in their royalty grab. I have no intention of going exclusive with them. My clips can earn more going to all agencies.

73
I have a terrible photo that sells several times each day.
I'm not showing it to you - it's bad.  :-[

General Stock Discussion / Re: Pond5 "Good News"!
« on: March 25, 2019, 11:39 »
Just emailed this to Pond5 support and cc'd CEO Jason Teichman at [email protected]

Pond5 decision-makers,

As a long-time contributor to Pond5, I am writing in anger that you are cutting our profit share of non-exclusive sales by a massive 20%. Pond5 attracted artists in large part because it offered a fair 50/50 split, and now youre lightly dropping that as not competitive. Let me ask, is management also taking a pay cut to stay competitive? Do you hire employees and tell them, Work hard, do great, and maybe in a few years well cut your pay by 20%? You chose to take a huge amount of earnings away from the content creators in an effort to squeeze them into working for you exclusively. That is an incredible betrayal. On a basic human level you should be ashamed of your actions and greed.

Pond5 has repeatedly spoken against a race to the bottom in pricing. But by cutting artist pay, youre pushing a race to the bottom in how much artists are compensated for their own work. Did you really think it would be more acceptable because you simultaneously launched the 60/40 exclusivity offer? We see the earnings cut for what it is - a profit-grab out of the pockets of artists and an attempt to push contributors into exclusivity by making non-exclusivity less profitable. But for most contributors exclusivity would not cover the loss from leaving other sites, and so your greed is just part of a slow, inevitable disincentive for artists to create good work. Why would I sign exclusively with a company that betrays its contributors on the very day it launches the exclusivity program? You've just proven that contributors can't trust you to maintain commissions.

I received a personal response from CEO Jason Teichman, and we will have a phone conversation soon to discuss the matter. If you would like me to ask certain questions to him or make a certain point beyond what I've expressed above, please let me know.

Question 01: Why would I sign exclusively with a company that betrays its contributors with a 20% revenue cut on the very day it launches the exclusivity program?

Pond5 / Re: Pond5 login

They never sent me an e-mail about the problem.  I had to come to this forum to learn about it.

I contacted support, and they just replied telling me to enter "forgot password."
I have entered a "forgot password" request a few times.  It promises that a reset link will be sent, but it never comes.

I wonder if this affects customers also, or just us lowly contributors?

Remind me never to complain about Getty again :)

Check your spam folder would explain no email no reset.

I had the same problem. No 'reset password' email received.
I contacted support and they reset some email settings their end and now I receive their emails ok.
