Looks like your working for depositphotos.

You should know with my w8 form I already identified myself. Depositphotos dont have to ask me again my passport.

Based on European law, I will sue depositphotos in France taking in charge by French judge according the French law 78-17.

Thats why as my lawyer said, all big stock agencies dont dare ask copy of passport.
FYI even in Germanys hotel they can not copy guests passports.

Depositphotos has another problem : the tax scams in USA

Please keep us updated on the trial dates.

but its not that simple like just the list - editorial rules (this is not a editorial shot anyway)
->as im not into editorial better ask a professional
also consider: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/General_Data_Protection_Regulation

actually image would easily fit within the choices of the weather news desk, so not sure how you think it is not editorial.

General Stock Discussion / Re: Wirestock Premium anyone?
« on: February 04, 2023, 07:51 »
but odder - after no sales last month, i've gotten emails for $20 over last 2 days. but the site says i've only earned $2 in last 2 days!

they are unable to coordinate anything!

they don't update sales as they come, but totally fail on communicating it. like Pond and DP sales are only monthly added.  By now it seems SS is only weekly.  But Adobe is back to ongoing.

why would i want to load only with them if they can't manage basics, including losing 6 weeks of Adobe,

dont always agree on your editorial statements
(esp. with recognizable people + non matter of public concern (and data privacy concerns))

but in this case (unless shots were on non-public ground) i cant see the problem

did you ticked theres property and you dont have a release
+ sell for editorial only ?

would you like to provide some more information for readers here
to avoid a maybe unseen mistake?

thank you!

Correct, unreleased editorial.

Similar to this, quite a popular sport in Brazil so it can be used for a story:

https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/coruripe-alagoas-brazil-01-25-2014-1972467716

did you specifically mark them as "for editorial only", or use the acceptable Alamy process of not filling the "Optional data" which would rely of buyers?

Thank you Noedelhap
I'm so sorry for my ignorance. But it's the basic meaning of this ASCRL that I don't understand.

I am not a US citizen, and I have never asked anyone to claim my interests in America.
Why did they give me $10 through Alamy? For what reasons and what merits?

Be patient please. tank you again

by signing on with Alamy you likely did agree to them representing your interest. I know this is how it works with DACS, the UK equivalent.

Hey Theo, thanks for posting a link to the post. Interesting discussion.

What I make from referrals is perhaps enough for a beer or two once a month and the way inflation is going soon will just be a chocolate bar/month! :D

so better than Dreamstime.

Going thru "normal" channels will only get you to another contributor who is representing Shutterstock.  I don't think Shutterstock has any contributor relation personnel on staff anymore.

These contributor liaisons will most likely give you a worthless canned response to any problem or inquiry.

At least, that was my experience when I tried in the past.

yep, and i even had one nastily write back because i rated his answer as useless, which it was, which it seems affects their internal rating.

Alamy.com / Re: Opting out of China in distribution scheme?
« on: January 10, 2023, 06:43 »
Also had these. I was warned when opting out that there could be payments for sales that already happenend before that time (August last year I think). I hope these are just late reported sales from before opt out.

this is the beauty of their random reporting and totally random deals they do, they always have a built in excuse.

An up to date list:

https://upstock.guru/information/stock-sites-list-for-contributors.html

Very nice list. Just one quick comment, Alamy is now 20% until people reach $250 in the past years sales total. Not commission, but net sales. You might want to change that to 17% to 40%? Because Distributor sales are even worse.

yep, distributor would be 12% at lowest,  40% for Distributor +80%*(1-40%)= 88% taken away from Photographer.

« on: January 04, 2023, 07:06 »
On my dashboard is shows that I am having fees removed from each sale (like normal). I just received a response from their contributor team that this is in error due to technical issues.  It is supposed to be a top up but their  system still took commissions. They said that was in error and will get back to me. Geeze.

"error"

probably hoping you don't noticed it,  Place really has gone downhill ever since PA bought them

Oh, tush, they only take c1.7 million per month, how could they possibly afford efficiency?  ::)

*extrapolated ::) from "We pay out over $1 million every month to our contributors"
https://www.alamy.com/become-a-contributor.aspx

 ;D ;D ;D

probably more since part of the $1million paid out is to themselves as they are using the platform to peddle PA owned copyrighted images- that in addition to the cheap $0.06 access to image to the licence under these PA "novel" article.

I

I'm just guessing, like everyone else, that these are make up payments for past licensing in 2022. I don't think they will become daily or anything else, but maybe every six months as SS has told us. Most of that is irrelevant, isn't it? I mean if we get payments twice a year from what's accumulated or once a month, what's the difference.

More important questions are about who owns the rights. "

the only impact is where the payment fit within the level tiers of SS, and how they affect the "number of download"

Related to the rights, there might be concerns when the original content was editorial and it ends up being modified for misuse.

Alamy.com / Re: your biggest sale on Alamy? and when was it?
« on: December 29, 2022, 06:56 »
Sorry to change the subject a bit I couldn't find the Alamy thread about sales for cents.
Having received another apologetic email from Alamy a couple of weeks ago along with a promise to pay a 100% commission on the Chinese distributor sales which they acknowledged shouldn't have happened in the first place due to being opted out, Alamay have sold another 17 of my images on 28/12/2022 for a grand total of $1.10. (gross)
How many more times will we have to go through this until they fulfil their promises to respect our choice to opt out of such sales.

also concerning are reports on their forum they sold images to their parent company for 6 cents who then syndicated the articles with image hundreds of times with no additional payment

"Hi,

This is to inform you that our account on Adobe Stock has been temporarily deactivated. We are in the process of adjusting our integration including a few technical improvements, potentially adding creator names under each image/video and etc.

Due to the holiday season, the process is taking a bit longer, but we expect to have everything completed in January. With the updates in place, the operations will become smoother and more reliable, allowing a long-term consistent workflow.

Wirestock team apologizes for the inconvenience, and wishes you happy holidays!

Thanks,
Team Wirestock"

you have to feel bad for those who trusted them with significant portfolio.  Also curious what they are doing with things like the SS "Contributor Funds:

How was WS supposed to know what SS was doing? We didn't. Give them some time instead of always being negative, finding the worst and accusing.

where is the accusation in "also curious".  by the way same applies to DACS payments from Alamy, ADAGP from IStock, which are Not new processes.

What's the justification for not telling the contributor which images were purchased for this usage?

Probably nowhere near enough space to list them all.

Are you implying that these line items we see correspond to more than one asset?
No images were "purchased".  Parts of our collections were used in training AI in generating new content.  So yes, more than one "asset".

Well one or more of our images were payed for and used for a purpose, I don't see the difference between an image being purchased to use in an ad, an article, or to train some AI....in other words they should still tell us which images were used regardless of purpose....not that it makes any difference in the end.

even more, each image used should count in level determination, and at time of usage, not every 6 months.

so much for once every 6 month.

Does anyone know if the "Contributor Fund" money is subject to the Earning Schedule/Levels? Will this also reset in January?

This is a valid question, which also shows that the communication on the part of shutterstock is abysmal.

The downloads from the Contributor Fund are counted. Presumably, this is why these revenues are also reduced at the beginning of the year.

In the case I described, however, it is relatively unimportant. It was once said that there would be no remuneration lower than $ 0.10 - regardless of the level.

Whether you get $ 0.03 at level 1, or as in my case $ 0.07 at level 5, it doesn't matter. With the other incomes mentioned here it plays a role of course.

what also counts is how they are treated in regards to number of download to reach levels.  If my images were used to create 17 different generated AI sales i should get a count of 17.

I had two sales today do far and I couldn't see what the other photo was. It said 2 but ut inly showed one. Then in the column to the right there it was. Contributor fund 0.58 😳
have an $11,05 one

it messes up the App.
On Monthly summary it adds a Download and the amount in the total, but when you click on the Day specifics the download is counted but not the Dollar amount.

ie,

Month Summary    Dec 17      3 ↓      $11.27
Day Specific page  Dec 17     3 ↓      $0.22  (and only 2 images showing)

46
Erm I too have the new dashboard. You can't see how much they owe you. Literally nowhere. You can see monthly downloads etc but not total since last payout. Vanished. And how can you tell if you reach payout. what. Most of it is them pushing their crap at you. They are complete hemorrhoids.

Upper right hand corner "Unpaid Earnings"

Here's a trick, another broken part of the new pages. Go to Earnings, now you have to click it again to see Earnings Summary, and then it's just numbers, but if you click the date, it finally shows Subscriptions, but not the rest, you have to click each column individually to finally see what sold. Waste of time. h.

ridiculous.  Just had a rare decent S&O sale.  4 clicks required from front page to see what image it was.

and yeah that back-arrow bug is a mess, nice find.

47
just got "upgraded".  This is totally unreadable.

48
some images there.  No sales to date, but with lag from IStock not surprising.

49

Till recently I was not thinking about stock photography and taxes, because I didnt withdraw any money and my income was low,
this is now changing a bit, and I want to prevent any bad surprises in the future.

make sure you understand when money is taxable in your jurisdiction.  Not withdrawing might not mean it's not taxable.  Check between earned VS paid VS vested

What's going on??

Getty sent me $1.22???

What???

Did any of you get your payment too? And are the numbers not right there either?

It's bad enough I had the worst month ever there. But they still don't have to screw me!!! Where is my money? I never had that before!

explanation

ADAGP Collective Licensing Payback 2022 September

Oh, thank you, it actually says that - I didn't pay attention to that. Then the correct payment will probably still come.

Or is there also a minimum payout amount at Getty that has to be over $100?

e-mail actually cam After the payment, so there was no way of knowing when the notice from Paypall arrived for me.
